I already did this.. I not reviewing again
Cozy and charming house, with fully stocked kitchen and comfortable beds. And, you cannot beat the location - the house sits literally on the central street in Cayucos, 5 mins walk to bakeries, pier, ocean, bars etc. Very reasonable restaurant (Lunada) is basically located in the backyard. Very convenient, especially for a larger group and with kids. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a family-friendly accommodation in the downtown area.
Just steps from the beach and town, yet in a relatively quiet area, this home was ideal for our mini-family reunion. Loved it!
This is a great house in a small historic town on the Central Coast. The Vacasa management was outstanding and special kudos to the maintenance person who came on Sunday to fix an inoperative TV and replaced it with a new one - couldn't ask for any better service and response than that!
We have stayed at the Salt Box House 4 times before this vacation. Every time we find something more enlightening and wonderous. It is an old classic that has much to share. The new management company is "on it". Check in is so easy, lots or fresh clean towels and easy checkout. The town of Cayucos is adorable and charming, so relaxing. Always my go to place! Thanks you!
This is the second time we have rented the Captain's Quarters and we loved it both times. Last time we only had four people, so we actually closed the door to the bedroom we did not use. This time we had eight people (four under eight years old) so we used all the space. Our family also rented the Carriage House, so we had a wonderful family stay. The house is charming and has lots of character. At night you can hear the ocean that is only one block away. There are private patios for each of the three separate accommodations, so you can BBQ or just read in the patio while enjoying a bit of alone time.
Cayucos is a wonderful place to vacation, especially in the fall months when the town is pretty quiet. We recommend renting from Vacasa and its Cayucos point of contact - Cayucos Vacation Rentals. Their staff is always available and helpful. It's a great area with many amenities close by - a must for those who want a relaxing and pleasurable vacation experience. We always look forward to our family vacation there and hope others will too.
It was the perfect get away for relaxing
This place is very rustic but has a perfect location, close to everything in Cayucos. Mattresses are not great.
The house is old, built in the 1880s, which could be charming if the house is maintained correctly. The size and location drew us to it, however we won't stay here again. The house smells dusty and musty-- furnishings and carpeting need to be professionally cleaned. It was unseasonably warm while we were there-- most windows were inoperable and need to be replaced, screens need to be added as well. Spider webs/spiders in and around the house. Not all of the doors lock properly. The mattresses were comfortable enough and I was surprised at how well the older stovetop/oven worked. The location is great, except for some late night noise from the bar across the street. Overall, this isn't a home I would choose to stay in again. Hopefully the owners will be able to provide some needed cleaning and updating.
This guest's stay was during a record breaking heat wave, and in a 100+ year old home it will be a tad bit more susceptible to the weather. We did get most windows opened, but due to the heat there just wasn't enough relief. Only about 3% of Cayucos homes have air conditioning since the ocean breeze is typically sufficient for cooling. A deep clean is being done at the beginning of November. We have replaced a few of the missing screens and have also added mattress toppers to the queen beds.
A nice and excellent located rental residence. Large and well divided with plenty of privacy. Located steps from beach, restaurants, pier and highway access, across from Friday's Farmer Market. View of ocean from the small porch and front yard. Has washer and dryer machines on premises.
