Fascinating local history meets the beauty of the Northern California Coast at this five-bedroom Albion property, a 19th-century estate with lovely outdoor spaces, multiple fireplaces throughout the home, and sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. This unique property was also the location for the filming of House on Haunted Hill and has a rich past as a spot for history and paranormal buffs.
Built in 1850 and completely renovated in recent years, Fensalden Manor is the site of a 19th century stagecoach stop on the hilltop meadows of Navarro Ridge Road. This tranquil property, which sits 400 feet above the ocean in Albion, is shared with three other homes - the one-bedroom Tower House, the two-bedroom Seashore Cottage, and the one-bedroom Bungalow House - which can be rented separately or together by a large group or an extended family (please call Vacasa for details).
Whether you're planning a memorable holiday celebration or a quiet summer vacation, you'll relish in the beauty that surrounds you. Begin each morning with breakfast at Queenie's Roadhouse Cafe in Elk nine miles south, wander the charming streets of Mendocino nine miles north, and stop to admire the natural scenery of Van Damme State Park along the way.
Aptly named for the "land of the sea and the mist," Fensalden Manor offers a welcoming, light-filled living space with contemporary updates throughout. Grab a book from the shelves in the library and retreat to the sun room for an afternoon game of cards (please note that the parlor fireplace is out of order).
When you're not dining at the Little River Inn and Restaurant six miles north, you can whip up feasts of your own in the modern kitchen with granite countertops, a six-burner gas range, and a Bosch dishwasher. Use the free WiFi to look up new hiking trails, watch for whale spouts from the deck or the porch swing, and spend the evening by one of the gas fireplaces (which are in each of the bedrooms save the master suite).
