Gorgeous lakefront lodge with dock, deck, game room & firepit

Otter Cove is a retreat that provides the ideal setting for creating cherished memories with friends and family. Having over 5,600 square feet of living area on three levels, this lodge was built to accommodate several families by providing both large common areas and private sleeping quarters.

When you pull up the driveway, you will see how Otter Cove was designed to be a secluded oasis, with its large wooded lot providing your own private retreat in the woods. You’ll see the yard gently slope to the tranquil waters of Long Lake, with stands of pine, birch, and maple trees framing the gorgeous view.

A few steps into the home, and you’ll be in the spacious great room that is anchored by a two-story, wood-burning stone fireplace and flanked by a wall of windows so you can watch bald eagles soaring over Long Lake! With a farmhouse-style dining table and large breakfast bar, the great room provides all of the amenities you need for entertaining and large family gatherings. The big, open kitchen easily accommodates multiple cooks to relive fond memories while cooking a family feast.

After a full day of recreation, you’ll look forward to retreating to the comfort of one of Otter Cove’s five themed bedrooms that call on the nature surrounding the home. On the main floor, Moose Meadow provides a queen bed and large windows overlooking tranquil views of the woods. Or enjoy the lake view from Deer Haven, which easily sleeps six with its three queen beds and two double closets. Ascend the log staircase and walk through the French doors into to the enormous, black-bear themed master suite, which is appointed with a king bed, a twin bed, seating area, balcony, walk-in shower, Jacuzzi tub, and walk-in closet. Two more cozy bedrooms are tucked away on the walk-out lower level for the ultimate in privacy and comfort: Pine Hollow has one queen and two twin beds, and Angler’s Paradise has a king bed. The bunk room on the main floor means the kids can have their own accommodations.

Otter Cove rests on 600 feet of shoreline on the largest in-land chain of lakes in the world, the Eagle River chain of 28 lakes. In the summertime, this means you can enjoy fishing, swimming, kayaking, or just waiting to catch a glimpse of the otters that play in a their namesake cove adjacent to the property. You can spend your days relaxing on the three-season enclosed porch or on the wrap-around deck. Gather around a bonfire to roast marshmallows and enjoy the view of the Milky Way – if you are lucky, you’ll catch the Northern Lights too! For rainy days, the property also features cable, free WiFi, darts, foosball, air hockey, and a pub-style shuffleboard table.

Located on the western edge of Nicolet National Forest, this home will allow you to spend your days exploring hiking trails, biking trails, and swimming beaches. In the winter, Otter Cove is located just off the snowmobile trail system offering hundreds of miles of groomed trails accessible from your front door. In addition to abundant cross country ski trails nearby, Ski Brule (the number one Midwest ski resort) is less than 30 miles away, providing alpine skiing from November to April.

Our family had a wonderful time at the Otter Cove Estate. The home is spacious and well thought out for a gathering. The great room and kitchen allow the cooks room to prepare meals while other guests can relax and interact all together. The bedrooms are good size and well equipped. The grounds are beautiful and make guests feel as though the home is in a private setting. The lake access is a gentle slope from home and two piers make docking easy. The chain of lakes is great! Long Lake is a but quieter than the other bigger lakes but spacious enough to fish, cruise, or ski without interference. A sandbar (party-sand-bar) is a 6 minute pontoon ride away and gas to refill the boat around 10-12 minute boat ride.
The local property manager was great to deal with and attentive to a few concerns (minor) that arose. She was quick to return a call/text and very informative.
I highly recommend this property to large families looking for a roomy, higher-end home with great chain of lake access. We would love to return to the Otter Cove next year! (see below).

The remaining review is relative to Vacasa and NOT Otter Cove. This is our second time renting through Vacasa. Each time we've rented, we were impressed with the house and decided to return the following year early in our visit. Each time, however, we were sent a message from Vacasa that to rent the same house during the same week the following year the price would be $4000 more than the current year. I complained to Vacasa the first time this happened to us and the complaint fell upon deaf ears. Apparently Vacasa has an algorithm to set prices and the program attempts to get current guests to re-book at a MUCH higher rate. I have not found this to be the case when one books through VRBO where you likely interact with the owner of the home directly. The home owners on VRBO are likely to re-book at a similar rate as they don't use a computer program to assess demand but would rather secure a booking for a returning guest a year in advance. For this reason alone, we are likely moving along to a different house next year. We would have re-booked on site at the end of our week should rates have not fluctuated so drastically. Vacasa must be good for owners but not so much for returning guests....

Great location, great house, and great local manager.

Loved the stay. Some issues while we stayed- Washer didn't work, The wall mounted animal head fell down-was poorly anchored to the wall. Other than that was a amazing house had everything you need in a vacation home.
Manager response:
Hi, Sampoornima! We are so glad you enjoyed your visit and apologize for the disappointments. The parts needed for the washer are on order, and the wall mounts have been secured. Thank you!

House was nice and big for our group of 8. Beautiful location on the lake. Based on the pics, however, we were expecting the atmosphere to be higher end. The appliances are very dated, TVs very small or nonexistent in main rooms (despite pics showing otherwise), minimal amenities and worn decor. The outdoor space is in need of upkeep and better furniture (rusted metal tables and chairs). Vacasa was very responsive to fixing a broken washing machine and a key issue. Thank you! Bring dish soap, dish detergent, paper towels, and laundry soap!
Manager response:
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. Guest's feedback regarding their particular preferences is always considered and passed along to our local manager to review, in order to make necessary upgrades for future guests' pleasures and comforts. We hope you'll give us another chance to host your next stay. Thank you!

We loved all the space. We were three couples and two kids. Each family had its own floor and bathroom. Our grandsons loved all the bunkbed choices, the game room downstairs, and the huge bathtub in Grandma and Grandpa's master bedroom.

We loved everything about this place! For our group of 8, the big open spaces, ample kitchen, and beautiful lakefront setting were all ideal. We're already thinking of returning not only to the region but to this house next year.

The photos don’t do this property justice, it’s a wonderful home, large, on the lake, with all the amenities. Fantastic property

The drive on a secluded road sets the scene for this beautiful and spacious lodge. You are immediately greeted with a large field stone fireplace, and beautiful open kitchen and dining table for preparing and sharing meals with family or friends. Beds, pillows, linens are high quality and comfortable. Tasteful upscale north woods decor. Inviting kid spaces.

The house could not have been more perfect. The home itself was gorgeous and spacious and well stocked. The waterfront was spectacular. We never left the property for the entire week. A perfect place for two families to join together for a relaxing and fun vacation!

Room for all. The cabin accommodated our large family comfortably. There were bedrooms that each individual family has their own space and that is important to us when two of our families have young children. The great room is amazing. Meal time is enjoyable when everyone is together. A new play set outside entertained the kids for hours. Most of our week is spent outside. Fishing, tubing, yard games and a fire to end every night. Can’t wait to get back.

This is our second year coming to Otter Cove. Our group is made up of five different families, and we had plenty of space to spread out. They have added a play set for the children which was used everyday. Plenty of room inside and out for the entire family to play games or just run around. If you are interested in hiking there are trails close to the house. You will find many people biking in the area. The house is located on a chain of lakes which allows for all types of water activities, boating, swimming, tubing, skiing, jet skiing and fishing. The town of Three Lakes is a short trip if you need something. Three Lakes has groceries, ice cream, restaurants, gas stations a winery and shops. Eagle River is about a half hour away. Our family looks forward to gathering again at Otter Cove next year!

Gorgeous! The cabin was beyond our expectations and comfortably held our party of 20 (ranging in age from 1-80). Large bedrooms with beautiful wooden furniture and plenty of bathrooms made spending a week with our extended family a breeze. The large dining table and beautiful kitchen were perfect for meals together. An open great room with stone fireplace was warm and inviting. My favorite though, was the peaceful view of the lake while having my morning coffee and listening to the loons! With 2 docks, there was plenty of space for fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, and more fun on the water. The play set and yard area was perfect for our young kids (ages 1-9). This cabin was simply perfect and we look forward to returning next year!!!

A wonderful vacation stay for our large group. The location is great. Not too far from town to run in and pick up things as needed, but far enough away to “get away”. The house is beautiful. With our group of 5 families we do not feel like we are tripping over each other, there is plenty of space. There is a lot to do outside. The piers are great for jumping off and it’s a quiet spot for a swim. You can fish off the pier too. There are lots of places to enjoy the view and relax. The game room area is wonderful for the whole family on those days you can’t be outside. Would recommend for sure!

This place was amazing. It was so comfortable for a larger group/family get together. It has everything you would need. Great decorating details made each bedroom unique and fun. The house itself was situated on a great part of the lake and views were magnificent. Highly recommend!

We had our first winter cabin experience here and we are now hooked. The cabin is beautiful, cozy and spacious (the pictures don’t do it justice!) with gorgeous views of the lake and trees. There’s something magical about being in a cabin in the winter and our 3 kids agree. Our favorite activities were hanging out by the fire with friends, reading a book while looking out at the lake, enjoying amazing meals, and playing games downstairs. This cabin does not disappoint!

Great place for our family of 20, ages 1-81. Dining room/kitchen area large and room for all to eat together as one big family. Bedrooms spacious with a family in each room. The house is located on a bay. The kids and young adults loved the lake and had a great time jumping off the pier and swimming. The lower level has a large open area for the young kids to play. There is a very comfortable deck which can be used for many different things. There is plenty of room outdoors for eating and just playing. Will come back!

It was our first year at the cabin and entire family of 18 came up. The lay out of the cabin is great. We are outside all day. Since the cabin is in a cove we could trust our young kids to paddle board, kayak, and swim without worry of boat traffic. Two docks gave enough room for everyone to enjoy the view and pan fishing off the dock. The cabin is awesome. Each family has their own private room. A space to ourselves if needed. The basement is large enough for all the kids to play when there is a rain shower. One of my favorite things in sitting on the deck looking at the water and having my morning coffee. This place is perfect for our family vacation
