Recent McHenry guest reviews

Loved the walk out to the lake and the use of the dock. The dock created a barrier for grandchildren to play while still giving us access to the shore to launch kayaks. Great location for access to boat rentals and proximity to shops and activities in town. We also went to 2 nearby state parks (a beach and hike to waterfalls) which added variety to our activities.

Recently rented this home to stay for a nearby family wedding in Friendsville, MD. Home was very nice and in a great location. Some minor cleanliness issues upon arrival that have been reported to Vacasa. Very peaceful and quiet, short distance to shopping center and necessities. Enjoyable stay.

The view is beautiful. It was nice to be able to cook meals and use a dishwasher and to have clean clothes! The hot tub and the pool table were a hit!

Nestled on the northern shore of Deep Creek Lake in the far northeast corner of Maryland, known for its plentiful waterways and coastlines, McHenry is easy to reach from a number of major cities nearby. Driving distance from Cumberland is 42 miles; Morgantown, WV, is 44 miles; and Pittsburgh, PA, is 97 miles.

Things to do near your McHenry vacation rental

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of Baltimore, Maryland's most populous city, and head a McHenry cabin or lake house for plenty of year-round fun. In summer, hardcore rafters will want to head to Youghiogheny River, while those still perfecting their skills may want to visit Adventure Sports Center International to practice in a controlled environment. Other water sports include boating, fishing, and water skiing on the areas abundant rivers and lakes.

In the winter, hit the mountain at Wisp Resort and ski and board your way down its 32 slopes, groomed and waiting for snow bums of all skill levels. If you prefer more off-the-grid winter fun, do some ice skating, ice fishing, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing.

Check out McHenry's artful side and visit Simon Pearce Glassblowing Workshop to see artisans at work, and take home some beautiful utilitarian art for yourself or family and friends. Then head to Spruce Forest Artisan Village and take a step back in time. Wander through the aged log cabins to the ping and clang of anvils and hammers as craftspeople employ their skills and perform their old-world trades.

And at the end of the day, return to your McHenry cabin rental to rest up and recharge for another action-packed day, steeped in natural beauty and teeming with indoor and outdoor fun for everyone.
