Great location, right across from where the elk converge and a visitor center with a ton of great redwood hikes. Also a ton of stuff to the north and south. We only stayed 3 nights and realized it wasn’t enough!! Had a great hiking guidebook that we used. Very clean, we used the kitchen just fine and the bed was very nice. The furnace heated the space quickly and was lovely to sit in front of. We were just a couple but would work for a family as there are three spots across two couches to seep in if needed. Really enjoyed our time and communication was great!

The wildlife during July- literally walk right through the front yard. We saw 60+ elk, 2 baby bears and just a 4 mile drive south and there is an amazing beach to watch the sunset. Here we saw a seal or two. This all happened in 1 day. House is beautiful and something from a dream. We had everything the we needed. Market and gas (x1 each) in the small town of Orick. We willllll be back!

Cozy, quiet and all amenities in the middle of the forest! Tastefully decorated and so close to the trails. It was nice to stop back for a quick lunch and hit the trails early in the morning. We loved this vacation rental. The warm stove kept the nights cozy. Everything was cleaned very well.

Exterior looks like a barn. Maybe was a barn at some time. But it's not a barn inside now. It's nicely designed and sturdily built. Useful kitchen, clean and inviting shower, loft bed comfy, dining table great. Quiet even though close to road.

Host provided bottled water since tap water is less than great.

A pleasant place to rest at the end of the day

The location was great. Close to several redwood attractions. The house is really cute. We arrived at night and had a little trouble getting in the gate and figuring out where the front door was. The water had a yellow/brown color to it so just make sure to bring some drinking water if your own. The fireplace was great and kept the room and the loft nice and warm.

What a great location and setup! The check-in process was easy and the unit was comfortable and clean. We only stayed for a couple of nights, but it worked perfectly for 2 adults. The loft bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room to relax after hiking in the Redwoods all day. It is close to HW 101, but I didn't notice any loud car/truck noise. The wifi is slow, but you don't come to the Redwoods to steam movies. There are limited options for food nearby so plan ahead. We would stay here again!

I drove around all of Orick area and I couldn't see a better cabin. It's really charming. Loved the fireplace and the loft design. Kitchen was functional.

Lovely location, even though close to #101. Charming and comfortable, although water pressure was occasionally inadequate.

This was a lovely home and perfect for our visit to the Redwoods. About 10 mins drive to the trailheads at prairie creek. The home was very comfortable and clean. Manager was communicative. Would recommend and return!

Location is ideal for hiking and visiting Redwoods. You wake up to seeing the elk on the property which is beautiful. ; however, the open space where the bed is faces the balcony windows and no curtains are provided. All of the cars are seen passing and they do stop to take pictures of the elk and they can look inside.
Manager response:
Hello Brian, We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. We passed your comments along to our local manager to review and we appreciate guest’s preferences as a means to continually improve. We look forward to hosting your next stay!

The location is ideal for exploring the incredible redwood forests. There are terrific hikes literally outside the door and Prairie Creek State Park with spectacular old-growth hikes is just a few minutes up the road. However, the rental is just next to the road, which is Highway 101, and although through that stretch it's just a two lane road there are a lot of log trucks and pickups hauling campers that are quite loud all night. I found it hard to sleep even with earplugs. I was traveling solo and looking for peace and quiet but I felt chased out by the noise and spent all my time in the forest hiking. For many people, they don't really notice this kind of noise or with a group it would just be in the background. Depends on what you're looking for. It is nice to have a hot shower and a kitchen. It's a vacation rental but quite functional and bed is comfortable. NOTICE: there's no coffee grinder. This is the ground-floor unit with a loft for the bed. There is an upstairs unit in the building.

We stayed for three nights and absolutely loved it! The location is fantastic- close to many of the best hiking trails in the area (some of them are within walking distance). The loft itself was very spacious, comfortable and the kitchen well-stocked with everything you need to prepare and eat basic meals. The fireplace/heater was particularly enjoyable. Just bring your own food (and drinking water) and your hiking shoes for an unforgettable experience!

Location says it all, beautiful scenery, prime hiking hot spot, abundant wildlife, there is just so much to explore. Was worried about the noise from the freeway being literally right there, but it wasn’t bad. When reading the reviews before our stay I was worried about the comments claiming the front door does not have a lock, but relieved when we discovered this issue has since been resolved. Didn’t realize at the time of booking that there is another upstairs unit, it was vacant the first night but when our neighbors arrived the next night we realized how much you could hear from the other unit. Overall they were considerate and the occasional noises didn’t bother us much. Don’t expect to be able to stream on the WiFi that is provided and there is little to no cell service around the area. The bed was comfortable and I appreciated the sensor activated night lights for when I had to get up at night to use the restroom. The only major con would be that the dishes were still a bit dirty due to poor washing from the previous party, not the first time I’ve experienced that with a vacation rental. All in all, we had a great time, thanks for hosting us.
Manager response:
Hi, Kendra! Thank you for sharing your feedback. We strive for a high standard of cleanliness and apologize for any oversights. We appreciate you letting us know about the dishes. We will notify our housekeeping team to consider this area of improvement and ensure quality visits in the future. We hope to host you again!

We could not have asked for a better landing spot. This home is within a stones throw of several extraordinary trailheads so that you would probably never have to get back into your car. However, that wasn't even the best part of this location. There is an entire herd of Rosevelt Elk that believe this is their property as well. The last day we were there, the herd visit numbered somewhere between 90 and 100 individuals. They were magnificent!!!

We had a very nice time at this lovely converted barn near Redwood NP. Charlie was very proactive in keeping us happy.

The location and ambiance was amazing! We will absolutely be staying here again!

Great place to stay! Loved the location. Close to hiking trails, the beach, general store. Everything you need is right there. I'd definitely stay here again! Loved watching the elk pick and eat apples from the trees.

This is a unique space that could not be closer to Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, which was our primary goal for the weekend. We enjoyed a comfortable three-night stay here.

We spent two nights at the Berry Glen Redwood park loft. The space is spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom/kitchen set-up is on the funky side but fully functional for our needs. great to have access to a washer and dryer too. The best part is being so close to all the wonders of the state and national parks surrounding the property!

We loved our stay. Within walking distance to several Hikes.
. Aug 2019
We spent three nights here. We wanted to view as much of the redwood forest in the area as possible. This was the perfect location.

Centrally located in Orick off of 101 and right in middle of star attractions. Quick & easy access to redwood national & prairie creek state park. Fern canyon access (Davidson) road and Trillium falls trail are literally across.Instructions were clear so check in & out was a breeze. Doors had keyless lock. The outer shutter did not have a lock which made me a bit anxious, but we felt safe and faced no trouble whatsoever. We stayed towards the front/bottom of house, whereas back/upper part was rented out by another larger party. No party/quiet hour house rule helped. Rental is clean, spacious and absolutely gorgeous inside & out! It only got better when we were surrounded by large herd of roosevelt elk throughout morning, we obviously kept our distance. Kitchen & space itself was well equipped with all bare necessities for our 2 night stay. A small grocery store is accessible in town, otherwise restaurants are a bit of a drive. It's a secluded spot engulfed by hills lined with redwood trees except for 101 passing in front of house, otherwise quite peaceful. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

There are 2 rental properties. My wife and rented out both. Both were clean. However, the entrance to the downstairs rental was unsecured. Simply push, and it opened. Because of this, we opted to remain upstairs. I alerted management, and trust it'll be addressed.

A note to management: improve the kitchen ware. Sharpen the knives and/or invest in better ones. More glassware and the addition of more basic pots and pans is a must. Restaurants are scant in Orick. Your guests will cook. Accommodate them.

Aside from this, the stay was quite pleasant. Again, everything was very clean. We enjoyed the elk herd that congregated outside on our last morning there. That was quite special. Also, if the Prairie Creek area/Newton Drury are your primary destination, there's no better 'home base' than here.

Great place to stay. Location was perfect for hiking in the redwoods. Was able to access trails directly from rental property. Management was super helpful. Came right away when we called with an issue due to blown fuse.
. Oct 2018
Very good location. Spacious living room area and nice comfy bed, but really small bathroom. Having one shared sink between bathroom/kitchen was at times inconvenient. Can get cold in the house, even with the heater on. Neighbors with kids sharing unit next door were very noisy - could hear stomping, running up/down stairs, loud voices. Other than that, the stay was great. Would recommend owner provide a multipurpose chopping knife for cooking.
. Aug 2018
This was an excellent location across the street from practically everything we wanted to do. It was awesome.
. Jul 2018
Great rental managers, accommodation were nice and an absolutely fantastic location!
