This place was a disgrace. Dirty, filled with roaches spiders and filth. They did not keep the place up or care about the comfort or cleanliness at all. Used a black light on the comforters, couches and bed spreads and found residues/ evidence of human bodily fluids. There were numerous spider webs and cobwebs with dead insects all over the place. The toaster was gross and there was the presence of German cockroaches and feces. We did not stay. It was disgusting and really disappointing as the area is beautiful. Don’t stay here!

Over all a wonderful place. Lots of wildlife. Despite previous reviews, we only saw 1 spider. The outside of home looks trashy. Mattresses under deck, and landscaping unkempt. Inside was nice. Need to leave detailed instructions for electronics and fireplace. Biggest disappointment is that I booked through VBRO and the home is actually through a 3rd party vacation rental company that is overseas. I had specif questions to the home and area and had to speak to a foreigner that had never been to the area.

The cabin was very cute and we were very excited about our stay until I tried to plug in my phone charger in the kitchen. It was dim in the kitchen and when I went to plug in my charger I could see something move. I turned on the light and moved the toaster and lots of roaches scurried. Yuck!! I killed as many as I could. Needless to say we decided to eat out for all of our meals. The rest of the cabin was cute and appeared to be clean. I just noticed the roaches in the kitchen. I think once an exterminator is called and eradicates the pests. This place would be a great place to stay. It is in a great location and is easy to access.

Nice place and good location. There is no AC, so opening the windows in summertime is a must. The beds do need to be updated for more comfort and less "squeakyness" , but overall, I would stay here again.

I would like to start with the fact that my family is pretty easy to please. We HATE leaving bad reviews as we own businesses ourselves and we know what it feels like to receive a bad review. However in this case we feel we need to speak up. We loved the place the first night that we arrived. We did not notice any issue's then. However in our opinion we found a HUGE issue on the 2nd nights stay. On the 2nd night we returned to the house after being gone all day only to find roaches all over the floor of the kitchen and the shared bathroom. It was not a nice find when we just wanted to relax after a long day of fun. We wanted to feel more comfortable in the house so we tried to clean them up ourselves but we quickly learned that the roaches are living in and under the kitchen cabinets, the stove, the fridge as well as underneath the bathtub in the hallway bathroom. There is no getting rid of them without the help of a professional it appears. The baby roaches never go away at night. We would kill all the roaches that we saw. Then sweep them up only for more to return right away! At night they are very active. You kill them. More just come out! The last night of our stay some roaches even made their way into the fridge and the freezer going after what little food we did bring into the house. We barely ate anything in the house. We stopped eating inside all together once we found the roach problem the 2nd night. This did not keep them away at all though. Again they are very active at night. I'd really hate to see how many bugs show their face when food crumbs are introduced into the kitchen. The house had a nice location and feel. I just couldn't get past all the bugs. This issue needs to get fixed! I wish I had seen the June review that was left by another renter before we paid for our booking. It states the same issue about the rental !!!!

The review asks me, "Tell us what you loved". I loved the $88 cost when I needed it during the off season for one night. I did not love the $140+ cleaning fee when the place wasn't cleaned and I had to call for sheets on the main bed, and the old sheets and towels on the floor to be removed. Have asked for the cleaning fee to be reimbursed and nobody has gotten in touch with me. No AC, so you'll need the windows open (if you can get them open) with all the fans on in the summer. Shower curtain fell down during the shower, and one window is completely broken and open to trespassers. This is my second bad experience, of two, with Vacasa and will be sticking with AirBNB from this point forward if I don't at least get the cleaning fee back.

We arrived here right before sunset and everything seemed very pleasant at first. My friend and I went to dinner and when we came back, decided to pop a snack into the oven. I went into the kitchen and turned the light on over the stove and 2 German roaches scurried across the stove top. I called my friend over to see this. We then noticed a different breed of roach sitting on a small box (not food) we had sitting on the countertop. I was beginning to get worried when all of a sudden two more large flat roaches scurried from the corner and slid between the oven and the granite. It is safe to say I slept with one eye open. I reported my findings to Vacasa and it has honestly been nothing but hell trying to get compensation or refund of any sort. In fact, I found it laughable when the local management offered to give me back 50% of the cleaning fee. 50%?!? I think 100% of the cleaning fee returned to me is the bare minimum. Especially since your home is now 6 roaches fewer than when we arrived. I’m disappointed because I’ve stayed in banner elk/ beech mtn before and with Vacasa. But, this experience was embarrassing.

To top it off — one of the white pillow cases on the guest room bed had a brown scuff mark across it. Yes, that too grossed me out; but the roaches took the cake.

This small cottage was in the best area of Beech Mountain. It is unfortunate that the home doesn’t seem to have been up kept very well. Literally the worst mattresses I have ever slept on in my life. And the bathroom had bugs crawling up from the sink. Long story short… We left an afternoon early. What a shame to waste this great location.

We hate to give bad review but we have family members booked updated huge house for just a bit more and this place had One parking, no Queen beds but Full size linens were not clean in beds and pillows were bad and kitchen supply from cooking knives to pots short. It has NO dishwasher or AC and SMALL little fans. We found White Claw cans in bedroom so I guess cleaning well was missed. The pathway up needs to be in better shape and lit and deck needs fixing. Just a lot of maintenance for safety reasons.
We managed to stay but it was the most uncomfortable stay we have ever had and we paid 4 nights at $2K you would expect to get what you paid. We stayed with family most of the time at another vacation rental and they had a HUGE fully equipped place for 1/4 more and 5 nights instead of 4! Please just do your research before booking!

Few things to improve,

Nice size property for the two of us and pup. Good location, close to everything at Beech Mountain resort.
I’m short, so had trouble reaching the dishes that were stored on open shelves in the kitchen. Keurig didn’t work, left a note for housekeeping. Should bring your own trash bags, no extras provided.
Looked like the place was in the process of being updated - fixtures in bathroom were removed, but wall not yet painted. Lots of “crud” along floor, under kitchen cart & table, found dog toys under the couch while retrieving our own dog’s toy.
Saw deer each evening, felt like we were “in the woods”.

Up to date appliances and comfortable beds. Really enjoyed the peace and quiet around there. Other people have mentioned it but you need to have a drying rack in the kitchen if you're not going to have a dishwasher.

The linens and towels were really nice. The house was very clean. Wish there had been some trash bags, but we left what we bought. The bathroom sinks didn’t drain very well. I couldn’t sleep on the bedroom mattress in the room with the half bath. Was very soft and I kept rolling to the middle. Maybe needs replacing but the sofa bed was very comfortable. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The area was super quiet. If I could give it 4.5 stars, I would.

Vacasa's communication, emails, and texts made the check in and check out process completely seamless. The cabin we stayed in was convenient to hiking trails and local restaurants, and the neighborhood was very quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife visitors.
There were a few housekeeping items that were concerning for us, but other than those, we were satisfied with our stay and we will stay in the area again!

Good stuff first. Place was easy to find and get into. Super cute little house. Woke up to White tail dear walking thru the neighborhood every morning. Each room has it's own thermostat for heat. The Décor is great. All the basic cooking supplies you need. Now the negatives. They are not queen size beds as listed. Did not know we had to bring toilet paper. The one and half rolls didn't last. The coffee maker is not a standard coffee maker as I assumed and was prepared for. It is a Keurig coffee maker which I not use. Seating out on the porch would've been great.

We really enjoyed our weekend in the mountains. Check in was smooth and we were welcomed by a very clean and cozy place to stay. This condo lives much bigger than it really is. Also, great location!! Just a minute away from the lifts at Beech Mountain and Frazier’s Tavern was a great place just around the corner to grab some beers and good pub food. We will come back for sure
