We had a fun, weeklong stay at Ferris’ Retreat. The pool and hot tub are great and there are plenty of pool toys and games provided by the hosts.
There location is great too. You’re about a ten minute walk or a couple minute golf cart ride to a beautiful beach that we spent hours at over our stay.
The area provides everything you need for a relaxing getaway - breweries, wineries, restaurants, ice cream shops, shopping, golf courses and a whole lot more.

The Ferris Retreat is a fabulous home. It is beautifully decorated and spacious . The large English walkout basement with 2 bedrooms, full bath and spacious family room allows for multi-family use. The backyard is completely fenced, very private and wooded. The walk to the beach is quite steep and the beach is rocky, but the large pool and hot tub kept our family busy all day. I hope to stay here again as our family of 10 really enjoyed our time together.

Unfortunately, we did not have the best stay at this house. The golf cart didn't work and the main reason we booked this place was the pool and it was extremely dirty and cold. I even called Vacasa twice the night before arrival to ensure that the pool was open and heated to the advertised 80 degrees, which I was assured it was. We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and I know opening of pools typically occurs around this time, so I just wanted to be confident that the pool was up to the listing description's standards.

When we arrived to the dirty and freezing pool, I notified Vacasa immediately and they tried their best to get everything fixed, but it seemed like communication was difficult between Vacasa, the owners of this property, and the third party pool vendor. Nothing ever got fixed for us.

I would have only given this place 2 stars, but Jon from Vacasa went above and beyond to try and get everything resolved, which I appreciated - especially over a holiday weekend.

I feel like the owners of this property were the ones who dropped the ball and I wouldn't stay here again just because I wouldn't want to give the property owners any of my money after this bad experience.
Manager response:
William, we are so sorry for the disappointment, that the pool was not prepared properly prior to your arrival. We have addressed your feedback with the appropriate parties, and we appreciate you contacting us so that we could assist you to the best of our ability. We will continue to make corrections and improvements, and we hope to have the future opportunity to host you and better serve you with a truly enjoyable stay from start to end. Thank you.

Ferris' Retreat was such a great fit for our multiple generation family. The two family rooms (upstairs and down) gave us spaces to gather but yet separate when we wanted. The five bedrooms provided our families good options. The backyard is a magical and secluded space. The garage game room was like a third family room for us with the TV/darts/ping pong. The bathrooms were recently upgraded and top notch. We enjoyed the hot tub, can only imagine what the pool would be like in warmer times. This house has a great combo of indoor amenities and serene outdoor spaces. Can't wait to return during peak summer months.

I stayed here with a group of adults for a long weekend. The house was as advertised and was in a great location. Unfortunately, we did have a few issues with the property.

Firstly, the internet was very spotty to the point of being functionally unusable. We took all the steps we could as detailed in the book to improve our luck but nothing seemed to help.

Secondly, we ate on the back deck (which was very nice) but unfortunately the picnic tables did not seem to be well-kept; one of the benches was wet and rotted and the entire bench broke under the weight of two adult men. Luckily none of us were injured but it is definitely a safety issue and I would be cautious with future use.

As mentioned in another review, the house was uncluttered but definitely could have used a better deep cleaning. There was dust and dirt that was noticeable after walking around. Also, while there were travel-sized shampoo and conditioner, some small soap/body wash toiletries would have been much appreciated.

Overall, the listing was a decent representation of the property but a few issues prevent us from giving a higher rating. Our advice to the property owner is to take steps to improve their internet and wifi connection, and make sure that things are cleaned and inspected to make sure they can be used safely.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Adam. We're sorry to read you had some difficulties during your stay. The bench has been repaired and internet restored. A deep cleaning will be scheduled for this fall. We hope to host you again someday!

Ferris Retreat is a great vacation home for all members of the family from young to old. The owners have carefully considered comfort and functionality for guest while continually making improvements. The new updates of additional beds, hot tub, and foosball table this year were greatly appreciated. Our favorites of Ferris Retreat are the views from the deck with a cup of coffee, large clean pool, great downstairs family room, and a living room for family members to gather and socialize. The kitchen is well appointed with cooking supplies, as we enjoy the house so much we rarely go out and eat. The owners are wonderful people and very responsive to their guests’ needs. After a power outage the owner drove from his out of state home to help with a Wifi problem and then fixed some very minor problems. The local VACASA team are also wonderful, especially Jon and Maria. During the same power outage, my granddaughter needed health treatments which requires electricity. After contacting Joh and Maria about my concerns, they reacted quickly in the middle of the night to meet her needs. Wonderful people! Overall, the weather could have been better, but vacationing at Ferris Retreat made it seem like it was sunny everyday.

The house had ample space for our family vacation which included 6 adults and 5 little ones. There was plenty of space to spread out and play, plenty of beds for everyone, TV in the basement was great and equipped with a DVD player. We brought our FireStick and had some movie nights which were perfect for the kiddos while the adults made a fire out in the fire pit! It is set in a wooded area which did not always get the best sunlight. However the hot tub came in handy during those shady times and everyone had a blast!

It was a wonderful house for family and kids. Would be great for bachelor/bachelorette too.

Thank you for providing such an amazing property for our week away. It was perfect for our family of four and my parents to reconnect. The location was secluded yet close to everything we needed and the house itself was just as advertised -- quaint cottage feel with a huge pool surrounded by trees & nature. We will definitely reach back out in the future. Thank you again!

Favorite part was the pool. Consider a queen bed in one of the bedrooms instead of twin beds. Need to post instructions in the house about using the coin operated washer and dryer - we didn’t realize it was complimentary at first.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Bridget! We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the pool! We are pleased to report the homeowner has since added a new queen bed so the bunk room can now accommodate 4 guests. We have also adjusted the signage for the operation of the washer and dryer to make it easier for guests to use. We appreciate your feedback and we hope we have the opportunity to host you again!

We had an amazing experience. The house was so clean and welcoming. The owners were so thoughtful about leaving information and instructions around the house, and they even left a gift for my in-laws` anniversary. The kitchen was well stocked - we cooked every night. Loved having the ping pong table. Lots of pool toys. A truly enjoyable experience!

The pool area, fire pit and the lot backing up to the ravine really make the home so very special. We enjoyed the pool very much every day. We had friends in the area that we visited with so we didn`t do much. We did play golf one day in Grand Beach. The golf cart was VERY much appreciated! Everyone was so helpful during our stay. We had a plumbing issue that was taken care of during the stay and the gas tank for the grill was replaced quickly. We had a wonderful experience. I would absolutely stay at Ferris` retreat again!
