We had a wonderful vacation here! The house was beautifully updated (and very clean) and the view was the absolute best. The location was great because we could pick whether we wanted to go to Saugatuck or South Haven. We would totally go back!

This is the perfect getaway home! The view of the Lake Michigan is phenomenal, the house is extremely clean and newly updated. We loved how remote the home felt yet so close to South Haven and Saugatuck. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat!

A good getaway. The house is clean and comfortable and situated on the Lake. Since it was cold and windy, we enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace. Location is between South Haven and Douglas/Saugatuck.
A heads up: The sulphur smell of the water is very strong and needs treatment. Very creaky but nice, refinished floors.
We enjoyed our time in the house, watching the waves of the lake and the sunset.
Manager response:
Hi, Marjorie! We're so glad you enjoyed your vacation at Overlook. We are glad to confirm a new Culligan filtration system has been installed to take care of the sulfur smell of the water. A Brita filter is provided in the refrigerator for drinking water to help as well. Thank you!

We stayed for a couple days and for the most part thought the place was fantastic. Right on the lake, exceptional appliances (we cook a lot!), great outdoor space. And the fire pit was a welcome addition given we were there for some cooler weather.
Two things about the house itself I kinda wish I’d known beforehand so I could’ve prepared a bit: first the floors are pretty noisy, which I imagine would be no big deal if it were just me and my wife, but with two couples and kids, it made nighttime a bit tough. Second, the water smells pretty funky. I don’t think this is uncommon for well water, but, possibly because we were the first guests in a while (?), the smell and taste was pretty striking. I’d recommend bringing a gallon or two of water. (There’s a filter in the fridge which was remarkably effective, making it mostly the smell that was intense rather than the taste.)
Those two things were really no big deal, though, compared to how amazing the place is. So we’ll definitely be coming back.
The biggest problem with our stay had nothing to do with this house, and everything to do with vacasa. We needed access to the garage and couldn’t find the key anywhere. Also, we planned on grilling the first night and noticed the propane tank was almost completely empty. We probably could’ve gotten through that first dinner, but didn’t risk it, and asked support for a new tank by the next day. It took over 24 hours, several phone calls, and text messages with what I’m guessing were at least three different people, because every time I reached out for a follow up I had to explain the situation again. Turns out there was an extra tank in the garage, but no one knew how we could get in there. We eventually found it buried under a bunch of stuff in the kitchen.
My advice for the owners is to leave the key on the counter or a note somewhere. We were grateful we didn’t need the garage til the second night, or else that would’ve been pretty disastrous. I’d also consider using a different management company because that was a terrible problem-solving experience for what should’ve been a pretty trivial problem.
Manager response:
Peter, we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed this lovely home but we're sorry if we fell short in any way. We appreciate you letting us know how we can improve, and we confirm a new Culligan filtration system has been installed to take care of the sulfur smell of the water. We will see that the garage key and propane are placed in more visible areas. We look forward to better serving you in the future!

Such a beautiful home on a gorgeous piece of property with an amazing view to the lake and private beach. Everything is brand new and very high quality. The design of the home's interior was beyond our expectations and so comfortable for a little family vacation. Definitely will be returning to this little slice of heaven.

This house was amazing for the views and just steps down to our own private beach. We enjoyed the outdoor seating on the balcony, back porch, and front porch. The fire pit was a hit a night. We would love to stay at this property again!
