Outside the high level of vehicle traffic, this historic rental was perfect. It opened the door to the community’s history and challenges from its beginning.
Very comfortable bed. Extremely clean. Great location. Refrigerator needs to be upsized. Overall a very pleasant experience.
The location and history made it a special place to stay.
Cottage fits right in with the pioneer atmosphere of the town. Have to be careful with the uneven surfaces from car to back door and the busy street out front can get noisy. Otherwise charming and clean.
Thanks for sharing your feedback, Patricia. We're glad to hear that the home suited your needs. The convenient location does also bring some added noise, and we apologize for any disruption this caused during your visit. We hope to host you again soon!
This was our third time staying in the Oak House. We love the location, within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on Main Street. The space is plenty for my husband and myself, although the shower is TINY. The street adjacent to the house is heavily traveled late into the night and early in the morning, which can be disruptive to light sleepers. Overall, the house is clean and comfortable and I know we'll be back.
This cottage is right on Milam, with very very busy traffic and loud!
Comfy bed, but there were no coffee pods for the coffee maker.
Thank you for choosing our home, Susan. We encourage guests to plan on bringing any items not explicitly listed as an amenity that is necessary for their trip. Please note that perishables, including coffee and K-cups, are not provided in order to ensure our high standards of cleanliness and sanitation are continuously met. We are available to answer any questions 24-hours as well. We hope we can host you again!
Clean and cute. Good location- short walk to main st.
Only negative-Coffee maker did not work so we went to coffee shops.
Christina, we are so glad to hear that you enjoyed our beautiful space, great location, and the premium clean performed by our local team. We apologize for any issue you experienced with the coffee pot and thank you for letting us know that there is room for improvement. We have passed your comments along to our property manager for review and hope to host you for another great stay soon!
We loved the location, the coziness, and how clean the house was.
We really enjoyed our stay at Oak House. It was sweet and cozy for the 2 of us. Decent distance to Main Street and all the fun things in Fredericksburg. For others looking to stay here, be aware that is near a main road and you can hear just about every car that drives by, in addition to the shower being TINY. My boyfriend is 6’5 and a bigger guy and he was touching the walls and ceiling of the shower. Other than that we think Oak House is a greta place for a quick getaway.
This cozy little house has everything you need! We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back!
Vacasa was a great host for our long weekend stay at the Oak Cabin in Fredericksburg. We were able to walk to downtown from the cabin. The cottage includes a room with king size bed, a kitchen and bathroom with a shower. It is designed for only two people. There is also a front porch, patio, drive way with parking, and plenty of shade. It is called the Oak Cabin because of the massive oak tree that is like an umbrella covering the entire space. Deer come up the drive way at night.
While we enjoyed the cabin, it may not be for all people. The patio, front porch, and steps into the cabin my be difficult for people with mobility issues or knee replacements. The shower is very small. The traffic noise will bother some guest.
The cabin does include many comforts for guests. Chocolate muffins were waiting for us on the kitchen table. Bottled water, juices, and milk were in the mini fridge. Coffee, creamers, and sweeteners were provided along with a drip coffee maker. The cabin even had internet and movie channels. It was a great getaway for us.
Everything was great, shower was a tad small but not horrible
I had a lovely visit. I was there researching a book at the Nimitz Museum (a must see, once you're done hitting all the antique shops!). I really appreciated that the fridge was stocked with water, milk, and there were snacks to get me through the night till the restaurents opened! Please add a front porch light on a timer so the address is visible after dark. The oak tree is amazing but in the dark, on a moonless night, makes the house in visible. Once inside that's a bonus, but a little nervewracking when trying to locate the address.
I stayed here with a girlfriend of mine for the weekend! It was very clean, cool with ac, and they left out some lovely muffins and breakfast items which was great! The house was very close Main Street and walkable to shop and grab food. The biggest problem was that you can hear the traffic and cars passing by clear as day when you’re laying in bed! It’s a great placed to stay, but if you’re a light sleeper like me, I would bring some cozy ear plugs so you can get a good nights rest on busy weekends when people are driving around at all times of the night.
The Oak House was a nice place to spend a few nights! Other reviews were correct, Milam street is very busy and the noise will come in the house. It's close to main street and everything was in walking distance.. if you're tall, it bigger, be aware that the shower is VERY small and difficult to maneuver in!
Hi Scott, We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit! Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us. The convenient location does also bring some added noise, and we apologize for any disruption this caused during your visit. We passed your comments along to our local manager to review and we appreciate guest’s preferences as a means to continually improve. We look forward to hosting your next stay!
Location was close enough to Main street. House was clean and fresh pastries were a nice surprise. The area around the front porch has a lot of steps and uneven walking areas so probably not a great place for elderly.
The setting...a genuine rare and huge specimen live oak tree, shelters and lends its name to the little house where the bed is perfect and the temperature truly chill to combat the Texas mid-June heat! Extremely neat, clean and unique place to book your next night in Fredericksburg, Texas. Highly recommended!
Very nice little house. Clean and neat. Coffee pot wouldn't work, so went to office and they gave us another one. Really the only thing I didn't like about it is the traffic noise. But all in all it was quaint.
Cute little house with all the amenities. Great location. Clean and friendly help.
Cute small cottage. Close to Main Street in Fredericksburg.
What a cute little place. Very nice proximity to main st. We enjoyed it very much!
We loved the Oak House and the comfort of it and the proximity to Main St. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because of the street noise. The house is on a very busy street. We tried sitting on the front porch enjoying a glass of wine but the car noise was so loud that we had to go inside. The microwave was not working. If the noise level had not been an issue, we would definitely stay there again so if noise doesn’t bother you then I recommend this place.
Hi, Ken! We are so glad you found the home comfortable. We will follow-up with the homeowner regarding the microwave and the possibility of a sound machine. Thank you!
This house was adorable and was loaded with character! It was so cute and quaint. The bed was comfortable and the front porch was so inviting!!
I was a nice stay very close to main st. Only downfall the shower was way too small. Definitely needs more outside lighting at night. Last thing, it was a noisy at night when trying to go to sleep due to traffic. Other than that it was a cute little house.
Hi, Maribel! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at The Oak House. The homeowner is interested in getting a sound machine to help drown out street noise, but ear plugs are also advised. We are currently looking at exterior lighting ideas and hope to have something in place soon. Thank you!
Wonderful location within walking distance of Main Street. Perfect setup for 2 people looking for privacy as well as proximity to all downtown Fredericksburg has to offer
Lovely furnishings and perfect size for two.
Super clean and everything perfectly organized.
Nice to have breakfast cinnamon buns, juice and coffee provided.
It was right in the middle of town, easy to walk to restaurants and bars. Loved the front porch.
The house looks super cute when we first arrived. Then we started having problems: 1. 1/4 roll of toilet paper for 2 night stay, so we had to go buy our own. 2. Bugs crawling on us at night. 3. Stale mini boxes of cereal for "breakfast". 4. Absolutely no response when trying to contact property owner about our problems even when we sent pictures of the bugs. We would not stay here again or at any other Vacasa properties if this is how they run their business. We understand things happen but when we tried to communicate our problems we received no reply at all. Days later we still have had no reply.
Hi Kavin, we are so sorry about the pest situation you experienced. We will let the owner know so he can take the necessary steps to remedy this issue. We appreciate your feedback and hope to host you again soon!
The cottage is absolutely perfect for a weekend get away. It was very clean and all around beautiful. The only downside was the noise coming from the street at all hours of the night. Me being a light sleeper, I was up a lot throughout the night. Other than that the house itself was adorable and we would definitely recommend it.
Quiet small and very cozy home. Close to downtown. Was nice to get away, definitely recommend staying here.
Charming little Cottage with own driveway. A little noisy in the morning with trucks driving by but not a deal breaker in staying here! Super easy checkin and checkout on site!
The Oak house was as advertised!! Everything we needed. Easy check in! Easy Check out! Comfortable bed!!
We will be back!!
Such a picture perfect little house. We truly loved the way it was decorated and how everything was vintage. Great location to the historic area. I especially loved walking the neighborhood. It is on a very busy (loud) road but we did get used to it, and turning on a box fan helped. Will stay there again.
Good location, only two blocks from Main St. Inside appearance led us to assume preparation was completed as stated. Front porch was an added charm. Very pleased in most aspects.
Loved our short stay here, particularly the comfy bed and the gorgeous Oak tree that the house is situated on and under. A taste of history
House had cute set up and was conveniently located to Main St. Back door did not feel secure/safe, could hear every bit of traffic, satellite went out second night of our stay, shower was very small, bathroom door did not close, lots of issues flushing toilet, And microwave shut up every 10 seconds when trying to heat anything up.
Hi, Vanessa! We appreciate your feedback so we know where improvement would most be appreciated by our valued guests. Maintenance has handled the bathroom door, toilet, and microwave. We will also be installing a separate lock on the door. Thank you for staying with us!
The Oak House was the perfect place for a much needed 2day getaway to unwind and relax we cant wait to stay there again. Its located a block off main street in Fredericksburg which makes it easy for walking to the downtown shops and wineries. The people at Vacasa were easy to work with and quick ro respond to any questions we had.
Great location, comfortable bed, nice porch!
Loved the house. Great location and a perfect weekend getaway for me and my girlfriend. The details made the house very beautiful and relaxing.
This house was overpriced and unprepared for guests, with no trash bags, kitchen soap, broken coffee maker, no running kitchen water, no cushions on the front porch and the smell of mold throughout the whole house, it was a total disappointment. It was liked they weren’t expecting anyone to show up.
We are sorry to read the home was not better prepared for you and understand what a disappointment this must have been for you. We will follow-up with housekeeping regarding properly preparing and inspecting the home prior to guest arrival. We hope the compensation offered you shows our desire to care for our guests. Thank you, Michael!
We booked at the last minute and this little gem was still available. We loved the grounds with the ancient, beautiful trees and the front porch is a good size. The bed was comfortable and the inside was really cute. Good closet space. This house with wonderful charm is really only for one to two people. Anymore than that and you will be cramped. We loved everything about this charming little house, with the exception of the noisy street, which the front of the house faces. Enjoy!
We really enjoyed, it was cozy, comfortable and we found the house romantic. We really enjoyed our stay!
My husband and I loved this little yellow house! It was perfect for our weekend stay. The amenities were plentiful and the home was very comfortable. We will definitely stay there again.
The location and the coziness.
Thank you so much. The visit was very nice. And a big thank you to Vacasa for calling us about the medication we had forgotten.
We really enjoyed our stay at the "Oak House!! It was clean and check in was really simple. It was easy walking distance for shopping.
Private, quaint and convenient.
We stayed here on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! It's near downtown and everything that's happening. It's a quaint lovely home and we enjoyed the complimentary croissants on our arrival date. The home was stocked with everything we needed!
Perfect location ! Walking distance to food and fun . Quaint, very clean and such a cozy , romantic feel to this place. Walked in to find a folder of activities and maps ... and we’re even greeted with some some delicious pastries to eat on the table ! I would highly recommend. I would absolutely stay here again !
The location was excellent because it was right by down town. Traffic noise was a little rough but still liked having coffee on the front porch in the morning.
Cottage nicely done, three things that were slight inconvenient. One, road in front of cottage is very busy/noisy, two rear entrance needs to be updated-hard to use, three in middle of wine country and no wine opener, had to purchase one. Otherwise it is conveniently located and would consider staying again.
This is my second time to stay here, and it was just as nice the second time!
We loved the comfortable bed and bedding. The house cooled quickly and comfortably.
'Loved the history of this Sunday House. It was well cared for and extremely clean and comfortable. The OAK TREE! What a treat to see the size of the tree and wonder about its age. At this site we actually saw a herd of deer and heard an owl in the evening.
Very nice little house. Access is a little inconvenient if you have limited mobility.
I loved the location to Main Street and the front porch. If you like to walk and leave your car parked, this is a good house to book.
The cottage is very conveniently located a few blocks from Main Street. There was road noise at night but it didn't bother us. It was very clean!!! The bed was big and comfy! The only complaint was that my husband barely fit in the shower, he's 6 ft and 2XL. Great first visit to Fredericksburg!
We loved our cute little house. The bed was SO COMFORTABLE! Shared the bed with my mom and we both agreed that it was the best sleep we’d had in a long time. We love a cold room so we we’re also thankful for the box fan left in the closet. The pastry was such a yummy surprise and a wonderful morning treat. The gorgeous old oak tree outside was such a majestic sight that we had to get pictures. Would definitely stay here again.
We loved the entire historical ambience, it only lacked a few details that were forgivable, lol
(Needs good coffee, better/fresh coffee condiments) but this place was clean as a whistle though!
Great location and very clean.
Great little house..loved the town.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the charming Oak House. The only two drawbacks were that the house faces a busy road, which can get quite loud around 7 in the morning if you’re trying to sleep in, however it is quiet during the night. The other issue was that the toilet was finicky. The tank wouldn’t fill up with water on the first flush, but give it just a minute more and it worked fine. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this house to anyone who plans to get up early and explore the town!
We enjoyed our stay. It was our 1st time booking a house vs a hotel. The house was clean and functional. They even left a treat for us. We enjoyed having the place to ourselves for sure
Quiet neighborhood and remind me of tiny homes!
Even better than when we stayed 25+ years ago. Then called "The Little Yellow House."
Walking distance from Main St. Had a great time!
The house was so quaint and comfortable. There was a freshly baked pastry waiting for us upon arrival, along with maps and guides for local Fredericksburg attractions. The shower is in fact extremely small, but the water was hot and there was plenty of it. The bed was a little springy for my boyfriend's taste, but I thought it was comfortable. I will definitely plan to come back when it's warmer to take advantage of the adorable front porch.
The house was quaint and clean. Too close to a noisy road though. The shower was terrible. The shower head would not stay in position even after moving it. Other wise it was a comfortable place. The bed was comfortable for sure.
This wasn't our first choice but it is what was available for our last minute trip. "Quiet" is a big priority for us and we knew there would be noise issues being on a fairly hi traffic street and we are light sleepers but we slept pretty well in spite of it. Nice to have the coffee cake waiting for us and assortment of drinks available. No hairdryer but they did have the softest sheets I have ever slept on. The down comforter was too hot so we had to turn the a/c down to 65 to sleep and the bed was comfy. We laughed about feeling like we were sleeping in the middle of the street but we did sleep. No insulation at all to the building and it is not as immaculate and beautiful as other places we have stayed but it was fine. Really, no big issue.
It is soooooo cute! Just 2 blocks from Main street shopping and restaurants/wine tasting. They leave a fresh Pastry for Breakfast the next morning that is to die for. Along with milk, juice, cereal. The tiles in the kitchen and Bath are awesome. The linens are of very good quality. And there is a FRONT PORCH that was so fun to sit on. Kind of like a semi B & B, has a kitchenette and they leave your bfast. You arrive to lights and music on. Even has a BBQ and bistro table set out back. The few downsides are the front sits on a road that has alot of steady traffic for a residential area, and the mosquitoes were biting on that cute porch. But overall the cuteness/quaintness outweighs the few negatives. Great memory!
Clean, cozy, & great location. I would definitely book here again!
I would never stay here again. The entry steps are too steep. The shower is too small. The bedroom is next to a noisy street. There is no security or good locks to prevent intruders. The television is chained to a dresser. Vacasa’s management is good, but the property is a dump.
Very close to Main Street made it easy access to walk to restaurants and shops. The house was lovely the added bonus was the coffee and breakfast goodies provided.
The Oak House was a quaint German Haus. Exceptionally clean and very nicely decorated. Was very, quiet, comfortable and homey. Within 2 blocks of the main street. We would definitely book again.
This was my first time staying here. I am glad I chose the Oak House. It provided the privacy I wanted for the weekend. It was clean and nice and cool. A wonderful place to stay for a relaxing weekend.
We would absolutely stay here again! It was perfect for a mini vaca in Fredericksburg and we could walk to downtown.
We LOVED staying at this house. It was very private, beautifully appointed and very comfortable. The proximity to town was awesome; once we parked our car we never got back in. We would rebook this home and recommend it to others.
We found The Oak House when looking for a new place to stay for a quick getaway to celebrate my husband’s birthday, and we loved our stay. It was the perfect location, a private home that let us cook our first night there and we found everything we could need. Thank you for a wonderful place to relax and celebrate!
We loved our stay at the Oak House. Comfortable, clean, easy walking distance to main street. We loved the puzzles and scrabble. Thank you!
toilet tank wouldn't fill so they fixed it. Local staff didn't seem a to be familiar with the property. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the old house to others.
Oak House was very charming. Everything we needed was provided. Yes, however, the shower is small. We needed assistance operating the TV and called Lissa. She came right over and showed these two old ladies how to work it. Thank you again, Lissa. Enjoy the old charm of this Sunday House. We sure did!
House is quaint and charming. Enjoyed the location, walking distance to local attractions.
Booked for a birthday get away in and around Fredericksburg Wineries. Upon booking, I was called to make sure we had entry information, where I also asked about early check in since we'd be out and about at the wineries for most of the day. The staff was more than accommodating and even called us the day of, hours before 'official' check in to let us know we could get in. The Oak House itself was incredibly cute and comfy. I would absolutely recommend to anyone staying in Fredericksburg for the weekend! (My only disclaimer is that there is not an official side walk that goes all the way up Milam to main.)
Cute house! Agree with other review, street noise a little loud and small shower. But we locked ourselves out of the house and the owners were very responsive as quick to let us back in. Def recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at the Oak House on a recent visit to Fredericksburg. The house is small but perfect for a couple. The bathroom has been recently updated, don’t be scared off by the reviews about the shower - it’s small, but workable and has good water pressure. We’d happily stay here again and recommend it for your next visit to town.
Very convenient location in walking distance to west main and easy in and out parking
I loved staying here and would do so again. It's very quaint and well kept. Shower is small for anyone over 6' tall or really wide.
Loved this cute house! Within walking distance to the main drag. We can’t wait to stay here again soon!
This little cottage is adorable. It's very little - just a bedroom, small kitchen, bathroom, and nice patio - but very nice and clean and comfy. You can walk up the street to Main Street and its a very short drive to everything in town. The bed is comfy! For a couple looking for a place to sleep, its perfect!
The complimentary coffee cake was delicious and almost did last until breakfast. Super nice treat! They provided coffee, juice, milk, and popcorn too, which I thought was a nice gesture!
We only stayed one night so the very small shower was fine, but I could see wanting something bigger for an extended stay. The bathroom itself was remodeled and great with nice complimentary toiletries. The street noise that some reviewers mentioned did not bother us all, but I suppose it was pretty loud.
Great cozy little spot. Amazing cinnamon rolls waiting for us in the kitchen. Nice amenities and complementary food stuffs. Nice front porch! Careful on getting up the driveway!
Very nice, romantic stay for a short vacation.
If you want to be able to shower and sleep, the Oak House is not the place to stay. It is an adorable little cottage, and the coffee cake is amazing, but that is the best it gets. The shower is too small to fit into (literally 24 in by 24 in) and the road noise will keep you up ALL night.
We are sorry to see this guest was dissatisfied and wish they had reached out as we might have been able to find a unit better suited to their needs. This home is not ideal for light sleepers as traffic can be heard from time to time. The plus side to this is our guests are very close to Main St. The shower is a smaller walk-in one, but it is very nicely tiled and well-maintained. Thanks!
The Oak House was a perfect weekend getaway for us. The house was very cute and cozy. It was well stocked, very clean, and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful, accommodating, and nice during the check-in process as well. I will definitely be staying here in the future!!
A great place for couples or a friend weekend. Close to main street with tasting rooms, restaurants, and shopping.
Cute as a button, a fantastic stay, we loved it.
The adorable nature of this cottage cannot be overstated. It is a perfect size for two people!
My only complaint, and the reason I would not rent this particular unit again, was the noise from the street. Texas trucks are loud in general, but when your only sleeping hours are from 12-3:30am that volume get amplified.
If you are looking for a. quiet, peaceful retreat, I would recommend one further off a main road.
My fiancé and I really enjoyed staying at this little cottage just a little ways down from Main st. We were able to walk anywhere on Main St. from this location. Would definitely stay here again.
So quaint and lovely. Most definitely will be staying again. Perfect!
Our trip was enjoyable starting at check-in. The staff was courteous and helpful. Fortunately we were able to check-in a little earlier than expected which was perfect. Main street was a short walk away from the house. The house was cute and cozy. Perfect for two. The coffee cake and small continental breakfast was a plus. It is facing a busy street so you will hear the traffic but it quiets down at night and that was not a problem for us. There is no sidewalk if you want to walk to main street but just be a little more cautious since the cars do come in kinda fast. Again that wasn't a issue for us since we didn't have kids with us. It was a perfect little house that was close enough to everything so you can explore Fredericksburg on foot. We truly enjoyed our experience.
This cottage was adorable. It was the perfect location, convenient to main street, but off the beaten path a bit. The continental breakfast and stocked fridge and cabinets provided everything we could want. All the conveniences of a hotel room, but way better!
Cottage is very well maintained, but it is located on a busy road, so you hear all of the traffic all night and at 6 a.m.
Perfect spot for a romantic weekend getaway!
We will definitely return. This was a most perfect house for 2 people. We love the location and overall feeling of the house!
The cottage was so cute, perfect for a couple's getaway. Bed was fabulous, the coffee cake was delicious, and we loved being able to walk to everything on Main Street. There was an issue with the website giving me the discount that was advertised for a last minute getaway. I emailed Vacasa with screenshots and all the info and after an initial response, they've ignored my last three attempts to correct this.
Perfect location, and perfect size for a romantic get a way! The cinnamon strudel was delish and loved the feel of the place. Bravo!
Enjoyed the Oak House Cottage. We will definitely be back! This will be a special place in our hearts from now on. After 41 years of not seeing each other, my now boyfriend and I reunited on FB. We've been dating for almost a month. He asked if I would be his girlfriend during our visit to this beautiful cottage Of course I said yes! Thanks for the device pastry, OJ, coffee, etc.
The oak house is a charming cottage with just enough space for a cozy weekend. It's an easy walk to Main Street. The natural light was so nice as was the cross breeze on the front porch. We loved it.
Perfect for two, but the hole in the ceiling needs to be repaired, as well as the driveway rut. The house is on a busy street; people may want to bring a noisemaker. Otherwise, great place. The fresh pastry was much appreciated and enjoyed. Nice touch!!! Vacasa is the way to go. We'll never stay at a hotel again.
My stay was excellent. Bathroom too small and need blind over kitchen window but overall excellent.
My wife and I stayed at this beautiful home that was absolutely perfect for our needs in terms of convenience of location, small space requirement, etc. Upon arrival (and after their cleaning), they had a streussel cake gifted to us on the breakfast table that was delicious! So the consideration of the management, cleanliness, and quality of the house was outstanding. Convenience was also incredible and we walked to a number of places on West Main Street. We very much enjoyed those aspects of our stay.
The only two things we'd recommend considering are that 1) it is 2 blocks off of Main street, on another bigger street that comes into town so it can be pretty noisy early in the morning or at odd hours (from commuters). My wife is a light sleeper so she had a tough time sleeping the first night and 2) the shower is pretty small - to the point where it was pretty difficult to properly shower, BUT there is a removable nozzle to help with all that.
Other than that, loved the property as it was and the management team was incredibly considerate!
Very peaceful property, well maintained and homey.
I had such a nice time at Oak House! The house is so sweet and the owners provided some nice little touches to make me feel comfortable. What everyone says about the shower is true - it's very small! But I am an average height woman and it was fine. The rest of the house is very comfortable! I especially loved sitting on the porch!
Overall, very good place. Nice location. Quaint house.
I could not give a 5 star rating simply because of the same issues previous reviewers noted.
1. Street Noise, quiets down in evening, but loud in the morning.
2. Shower is so small I felt like Alice in Wonderland :)
3. Needs window covering in the kitchen window, we used a trash bag.
4. There is no plug in the bathroom, a dressing table/small desk in the space would be helpful.
There are positives.
1. Perfect location at the beginning of shopping if you like to walk.
2. Danish and coffee provided.
3. Clean and Comfortable.
4. Parking is no problem
5. Refrigerator, microwave, dishes provided.
6. Blow dryer, vanity mirror and long mirror in bathroom, plenty of natural light, and lots of robe/towel hooks.
7. Sufficient closet space
I really enjoyed staying here. Its probably around 500 sq ft, but for 2 people for the weekend it was perfect. The King size bed was great, everything was very "homey" and clean. I loved the items in the fridge and the apple pastry was delicious. Only 2 blocks from main street- great location and a great place to have your car parked! My only suggestion would be for the back door- it doesn't fully close all the way and the lock isn't great. Also I would suggest adding some kind if blinds for that door since its open and you can see straight into the house. I know some complained about the noise, we heard 2 loud trucks our entire stay. We loved the board games and decks of cards and overall the Oak House made for a great weekend trip!
This was such a cute, romantic getaway within walking distance of Main Street. Would definitely stay here again
We loved our weekend at the Oak House. It was the perfect size and had everything we could need. The bed was very comfortable and the AC worked well. We really appreciated all the breakfast foods too - there were plenty! We enjoyed sitting out on the porch and watching the sunset before dinner. Our time spent here was exactly what we had hoped for and we plan to come back soon!
Really enjoyed the pastry and stocked fridge upon arrival. Nice touch, cozy place.
Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage it was, cozy cute and the tree and the yard we, really enjoyed thank you for everything!!
The small cottage is adorable, but in my opinion slightly overpriced. The mornings, sitting out on the front porch, are relaxing. The other reviews are accurate with regards to the tiny shower and noise. You can hear everything. Curtains in the kitchen and better lock for front door would've made me feel a little safer. Aside from these details, the property was in great location and good condition.
Though tiny, we found the Oak House to be a cute fun house to stay for our two night stay. It's somewhat noisy from street noise, but, with Fredericksburg's restaurants and fun shops we actually weren't in the house but for sleeping. Walking to the main part of town is a five minute walk. We would go back in a heartbeat
My husband and I booked this house for a weekend getaway. I thought it was closer to Main St. There were some spots we could walk to but the main stores were a little further. The house itself was nice and comfortable. The only thing we did not like was how extremely small the shower was. It was very uncomfortable and sometimes unmanageable to use. The staff was friendly though and we did enjoy being there.
Everything about this property was fun and functional for our weekend stay in Fredericksburg. Some guests complained about the traffic next to the house, but the noise did not bother us. We loved the breakfast treats and the clean and cozy environment. The shower is very small, as other reviewers commented. But the shower was not a deal-breaker for us, we will definitely book this property again!
the Oak House is a nice little place to stay.. very quite
We loved staying in this adorable little cottage for our girls weekend getaway! It was close enough to main street that we could walk there if we wanted! The house was so clean and had everything we needed to our quick stay, and it is kept up very well. We had read in some other guest reviews about it being pretty loud at night because of the house facing a pretty busy road off of main street. It did get loud during the night, so if you are a light sleeper it might not be for you! Once we fell asleep it was no problem for us, so it wasn't a deal breaker in our case. The house manager left a delicious breakfast pastry, and we devoured it! That was such a sweet gesture, thank you! The kitchen also had coffee, milk, OJ, creamer - we were set for our mornings! Thanks again for helping us to have a great stay.
Lovely one bedroom cottage in great location. The only problem that if someone is over 6' 1" tall the shower could be an issue. Literally the smallest shower I've ever used. And the bathroom does not have much room for getting dressed etc. We were there for a wedding and there are not enough mirrors for two people getting ready at the same time. The place however is very cute and clean.
We spent our 14th wedding anniversary here. It was perfect!
Everything about the house (location, charm, fresh coffee cake :) was generally great. The only (2) complaints I have about the property are:
Street Noise: Milam is a very busy street and there are a lot of cars whizzing by. It settles down at night - but for a majority of the day (including the morning) - there is a lot of street noise. Plus it is next to a school/church so on Sunday - there was a large activity of cars.
Shower - This has to be on par with showering in an Airstream/Winnebago. It is so incredibly small - I could not raise my arms up to wash my head! The shower head was literally 4 inches from my face - Im a 6' person of average build. To me - this was the worst feature of the entire home.
Outside of those 2 things - the place was great!
We had a wonderful time. The cottage was quaint and cozy and fit our needs perfectly.
We were very happy with our stay at The Oak House. The grounds are beautiful with a peaceful environment. The small house was perfect for our weekend getaway, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I'd recommend it to anyone who would like a clean and tranquil place to rest overnight.
If you want to relax and sleep in, pick another property. If you are 6' tall or over, forget about taking a shower, you won't fit.
We had an absolutely wonderful and peaceful weekend at the little yellow house! It was very clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed cooking out on the grill! We will definitely be back to visit this quaint little home.
The little Oak house was a delight to stay in and we would recommend it to anyone looking to get a way. Keep in mind that its on a busy street so if you like sleeping in and your a light sleeper that might be something to bear in mind. That didn't bother my wife so we thoroughly enjoyed the house and its placement was perfect. Enjoy!
We enjoyed our stay at the Oak House. It is a very quaint house nicely appointed - just enough room for a couple. It is located just a bit of a walk into town, but not bad at all for those who don't mind a little exercise.
Get a name and number of the local office in case you have an issue. The number provided for Vacasa is useless as no one will ever answer. Other than that we had no issues.
We apologize that we were difficult to reach during this stay. We are hiring more staff for the phones so that it is easier to get in touch with us regarding questions or concerns.
This place is a perfect little home for the weekend or longer. It is a charming cabin on a fantastic lot so close to everything.
Great place and great location. We just stayed at the Oak House for the second time and we were not disappointed. It is perfect for two people to have a great stay over a long weekend. The staff is very professional, helpful and the place is spotless. I highly recommend the Oak House.
