Two-Story Beachfront Home w/Water Views, Gas Grill, Spacious Deck - Dogs OK

Owls Nest is well-loved, neat, and comfortable.

It feels like a throw-back to simpler times when vacation homes weren't about being exactly like your year-round home — your beach house was about being steps from the beach, a green lawn to play on, rocks to climb, comfortable beds and furnishings and windows that let in the sound of the waves and crickets at night.

The most spectacular part of Owls Nest is the fact that it sits right on Crescent Beach — one of the most spectacular beaches (not to mention views) in Owls Head and the Midcoast area. Just over the rocks, the beach stretches out with sand to sink toes into, calm water to swim in and rocks to find crabs and periwinkles under and on. You won't need to pack a lunch or a bag — if you forgot something, your house is right behind you.

The house sits on an unusually large parcel of grassy waterfront — a great place to cook out, play a game of badminton or just watch the sailboats pass by and the sun set. The front deck has plenty of comfortable seating and a large umbrella for hot days.

On the first floor, there is a laundry room with a washer and dryer, a half bath, and a cozy den with cable television. The kitchen is well-equipped with full-sized appliances and the conveniences of a year-round kitchen. A dining area off the kitchen has seating for eight, with spectacular views of the water and the islands beyond. The living room has a large flatscreen television, cable, board games, books, and direct access to the yard and the deck. The house is also equipped with Internet access for those who need to check in with the 'real' world while on vacation.

Upstairs are four bedrooms — the front two rooms have unlimited views of the water and queen beds. The other two rooms each have two twins — the mattresses are comfortable and all rooms have darkening shades, as the sun comes up early and bright over Crescent Beach. There is a large full bathroom on this floor as well.

The location of Owls Nest is ideal; Owls Head is a small, quiet community just minutes from Rockland, Thomaston, and Camden. These larger towns offer museums, restaurants, shopping, festivals, and endless cultural activities.

Owls Head, which extends to the immediate south of Rockland, is noted for its historic lighthouse with unparalleled views of the Penobscot Bay islands, its scenic working harbor, and the world-class Owls Head Transportation Museum. Just five minutes from the house is Birch Point Beach State Park, which has a sand beach framed by a secluded natural setting. The small village common, at the end of North Shore Drive, is the gateway to Owls Head Harbor and the Owls Head Light. Owls Head's unique location on the coast makes getting to Camden, Rockport, Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde, and Bar Harbor very easy!

This location is outstanding. Quiet beach feels private even during Lobster Fest. This is best beach for kids we have ever been to and you have your own entrance from the yard!! House itself is older and fault can be found, but it is a find you cannot replicate and I have been on a search for the perfect family spot for many years with 4 kids. We would prepay for the next 3 years if the owners would allow it.

True ocean-front cottage. Nice lawn and deck to sit on when you don't want to sit at the beach. Calm waters with great low tide beachfront. Good for young children and parents. We enjoyed kayaking around the islands. Loved being able to walk and run along Bellevue to the General Store, Harbor Park and, if ambitious, all the way to Owl's Head Lighthouse. Stunning views from there! Only negative criticism would be that the furniture in the living room is not comfortable for reading at night. Upgraded couches/easy chairs with better lighting would make this a 5 start review for me. That being said, if you looking for a true coastal Maine getaway, this is it!
Manager response:
Hi, Matt! We love hearing the fun your family had while staying with us at Owls Nest. The homeowner updated the flooring, couch, curtains, and kitchen lighting this spring with more work to come after the summer season. Hopefully you'll return to see the continued improvements. Thank you!

From the bedrooms at night you are so close to the ocean you can fall asleep to the sounds of the crashing waves. From the living room and the deck you can watch the ocean all day. The gift of Owls Nest is that you have a beach home. I would come back in a heartbeat.
