The most enticing aspect of Owls Nest is the fact that it sits right on Crescent Beach — one of the most spectacular beaches (not to mention views) in Owls Head and the Midcoast area. Just over the rocks, the beach stretches out with sand to sink toes into, calm water to swim in, and rocks to find crabs and periwinkles under and on. You won't need to pack a lunch or a bag — if you forgot something, your house is right behind you. The house sits on an unusually large parcel of grassy waterfront — a great place to cook out, play a game of badminton, or just watch the sailboats pass by and the sunset. The front deck has plenty of comfortable seating and a large umbrella for hot days.
Lounge comfortably in the living room and indulge in your favorite shows on the TV there, or try your hand at some board games and card games. Take advantage of your serene setting and grab one of the provided books to catch up on some reading. The kitchen is well-equipped with full-sized appliances and the conveniences of a year-round kitchen. A dining area off the kitchen has seating for guests, with lovely views of the water and the islands beyond. When it's time to retire for the evening, several of the bedrooms have picturesque views of the water, the perfect sight to begin and end every day.
Owls Head is noted for its historic lighthouse with unparalleled views of the Penobscot Bay islands, its scenic working harbor, and the world-class Owls Head Transportation Museum. Just a short drive from the house is Birch Point Beach State Park, which has a sand beach framed by a secluded natural setting. The small village common, at the end of North Shore Drive, is the gateway to Owls Head Harbor and the Owls Head Light. Owls Head's unique location on the coast makes getting to Camden, Rockport, Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde, and Bar Harbor very easy!
