Recent Southern Maine vacation rental reviews

This home is within a mile of close relatives; making it so convenient for visiting. Use of the garage was a huge plus as it rained most of the first couple of days. House was spacious, well stocked, spotless, and easy to access via a ramp, if needed, right off of the driveway. Great water views, and lots of waterfowl action. Not one complaint from anyone about anything. We thank you!

Kittery, ME

Often your first stop when entering vacation land in Maine is Kittery, a small coastal town near Portsmouth, NH. From lobster shacks, delicious restaurants, and shopping to kayaking and hiking, this great town has it all. Plus, it offers all the amenities of Maine with close proximity to New Hampshire and the city of Boston just 60 miles south.

Inland Maine

If you manage to tear yourself away from the rugged coastal attractions, inland Southern Maine has much to offer adventurers of all types. The town of Bethel provides a winter retreat with a great cross country ski scene, along with golfing in the summer. About 22 miles west of Portland, Sebago Lake also offers summertime fun with boating, swimming, fishing, and more.

Coastal towns in Maine

With 230 miles of coastline stretching from New Hampshire to Canada, it's easy to see why Maine's border with the Atlantic Ocean is its central selling point! Southern Maine vacation homes gravitate towards the adorable fishing towns and small cities of the coast.

Take a road trip along the many coastal towns from Kittery up to Portland, and enjoy great beaches, shops, and restaurants along the way. The small town of Ogunquit has a beautiful walkway along the ocean called Marginal Way. Nubble Lighthouse in York is also a popular historic site.

About 30 miles north of Portsmouth, the scenic coastal town of Kennebunk offers an array of fun activities. If you're in the area, stop by the President Bush Compound out on Walker's Point to take photos from a distance, then stroll through the picturesque streets of beautiful sea captain homes. From golfing and mountain biking to fishing and seafood, this historic coastal town offers something for everyone.

Portland, ME

Further north, about halfway up Maine's coastline, Portland is the state's most vibrant and populous city. The harbor provides lovely views of fishing and tourist boats coming and going, and nearby Commercial Street has plenty of shops and restaurants where you can enjoy the scenery.

With the ocean at hand, it's no wonder that Portland is known as a foodie heaven - there are endless options for dining on fantastic lobster, crab, clams, and more, not to mention numerous breweries to check out. There's also a wonderful arts scene to keep you occupied on rainy days. Our South Portland vacation rentals are always a nice home base for your visit.

Whether you're sampling lobster, hiking along the glittering coast, or exploring the deep woods, Southern Maine vacation rentals will not disappoint travelers of any age and interest.
