It was nice to have three full baths. The house is nicely furnished and the large deck was good for our family.

We had a lovely stay in McCall. The house was just right for our group of six adults and four kid (ages 4 to 9). There is a nice selection of games and toys and the playhouse was a big hit. We made s’mores at the fire pit and found the kitchen well equipped for meal prep. The dining table is on the small side for a big group, but we made it work. The appliances are all new and everything is in working order. The deck is spacious with a nice gas grill and comfortable seating. We saw deer feeding in the woods below the deck. There is a great kid friendly beach 1 mile from the house. We went there every day. We enjoyed swimming, hiking and picnicking at Ponderosa State park and rented kayaks at the north shore concession in the park one day. Overall, a beautiful and relaxing experience. Thank you for creating such a warm and comfortable environment for our family to enjoy.

Great location. Great family memories. Living/dining furniture needs repaired/replaced. For $$$$ paid would like to have had hot tub. Otherwise great location and space. Parking is a challenge if more than one vehicle.

Close to town and activities.

Overall the cabin was in beautiful location and was large enough to accommodate our large family comfortably. The cabin had adequate amenities to provide us with a comfortable stay, and despite the kitchen floor and curtains needing cleaned the rest of the cabin felt clean.

There were nine of us staying at Sheps hideout ages from 3 years old to ninety. All of us loved it!! Deer greeted us in the evening and we made s'mores around the fire pit. Great location with easy access to the lake. Highly recommend Shep's hideout.

Our extended family (ages 6 to 84) spent a long weekend at the cabin and it worked very well for us. It was very clean and comfy, had lovely views of the trees, had very good comfortable beds, had plenty of parking and was in a very good location. The kitchen was amply supplied with dishes, cookware, etc. It is a shame that even though the river was close enough to see through the trees, all the property near the river is private so we couldn't walk down to the river. We failed to notice before coming that there was no DVD player, which would have been nice to have. The abundance of toys were very much appreciated by the 6 year old. Following are some of the downsides - none of which were huge issues for us. The master bedroom had a couple of problems - the curtains had fallen down before our arrival and the sun was very bright early in the morning which made sleeping in problematic. Also the bed in the master is extremely high which was a little hard on the 84 year old. The bedrooms could use a table or two, but there was plenty of closet and storage space. We were given only 2 garbage bags which with 11 people was not close to being enough. I called about the curtains and the bags, but did not receive a response. We brought our own blow up mattress which we put in the loft which had lots of room. We are glad we did since one of the adults would have had to sleep on the futon which didn't look super comfortable.

Had a great time. The bedrooms are all good size, comfortable beds, great water pressure, nice deck......loved the fire pit and appreciated having wood already there. The lock was tricky at first, but we got it figured out. We made sure all the doors and windows were locked, blinds closed, and everything was in order, we cleaned up as best we could. A nice, very comfortable place to stay.

We spent every evening on the deck playing card games. It's surrounded in a peaceful wood and the deck is nicely furnished.

Our experience at Shep's Hideout was exceptional!! Lots of room to stretch out, was clean, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, having a washer and dryer was wonderful and the location was great!
The local staff were very accommodating! My sister, who lives nearby, purchased supplies to make our stay more comfortable but was unable to gain access using the code on the day we were to arrive. She had to leave everything on the front porch as she had to get to her daughter's wedding rehearsal. I called Vacasa and explained my dilemma and asked if they could send someone from their local office to set the supplies inside as we were still at the airport in Boise. Upon arrival all had been taken inside and set on the kitchen counter!! A BIG thank you to the local Vacasa staff!!
The only things we wished for was an ironing board and hair blow dryers in the bathrooms. A couple of the chairs in the living room could use a cleaning but we just covered them with extra towels. The driveway is a little tricky when backing out so be careful.
Would definitely stay again!

This was our first time renting and we where very pleased with our accommodations, it was very clean and it had everything you would need. Loved going outside and seeing all the wild life right there in front of you. We would love to stay here again in the future and would definitely recommend it to others. Thanks you again for a wonderful experience.

This was a great location for family. We had plenty of room for children. The deck was an added benefit for evenings. The fire pit was perfect for roasting marshmallows. The driveway is narrow for parking boats and ATV trailers. Two or three trees could be cut down to make parking easier.

We really enjoyed our weekend! The house was great with tons of space for everyone. The deck, BBQ and fire pit made for great memories outside and the kids loved the playhouse. The kitchen was fully stocked so it was just like cooking at home. We would love to go back!

This was a great vacation home, especially for large groups and families with small children. Many rental properties come with the bare minimums, not this house - there was more than enough of every amenity, toiletry and small child option you could ask for! Very happy.

Our family had an amazing time at this property. We have small children and this property is perfect for them. There were toys upstairs, kids plates, bowls and utensils in the cupboards and the house is already baby proofed! We relaxed by the fire at night and enjoyed coffee on the large deck in the mornings. We spent our days on the lake boating and it was so nice to have this place to come back to and relax. We will definitely be back to Shep's Hideout someday.

Our group had soo much fun at Shep's Hideout! We are a group of 7 friends from High School who are now in our 30's. We have managed to stay close friends over the years mostly due to annual backpacking trips. This year, we decided to change it up a bit, and Shep's Hideout was exactly what we were looking for.

When we weren't participating in the many outdoor activities that McCall has to offer, Shep's served as an excellent base camp for the variety of activities such as: BBQ'n, fire pit, socializing on the deck (which has outdoor speakers), poker, and bag toss on the front lawn.

We had an amazing time and would recommend Shep's Hideout to anyone.

We stayed at Shep's Hideout for surprise 60th birthday party and family get together. We were extremely pleased with the clean, spacious, beautiful home. The deck is great for chatting and soaking up the sun. We were also very thankful for the kid friendliness of the cabin. Child proof cabinets in the kitchen, baby gate, potty seat, as well as dinnerware for the kids (including bibs which was great because we forgot ours.) The owner's obviously think about the little things for children which made it feel very "home away from home." The fire pit and play fort made it perfect for spending time outdoors. The location was great because it was out of town but not too far, making trips to the store very easy. We absolutely loved this place and plan on returning in the future. Thanks for the great memories!
Manager response:
Thank you for this great review. I hope the surprise party was a great one. It's so nice that your family enjoyed your stay in this great home. We are pleased that the kids enjoyed the play fort and extras. Thanks for sharing your memories with us!

Location is in an amazing foresty area with an amazing floor plan. Very nice place with lots of sleeping and set up for a very good social atmosphere. The area is right above the river and when you walk out on the deck you have an amazing view and a nice little fire pit down from the deck. Very happy with the cabin and am planning on staying here again in the near future. Drive way is narrow and if you have multiple cars you have to be strategic on which cars you need to get out first.

We really enjoyed our stay at Shep's. We were allowed to check in a little early so we didn't have to arrive in the dark. We were given the wrong lockbox code and because it was Christmas day, we worried no one would be available to help us, but we called Vacasa's local branch and we were given the correct code. Whew! The house was roomy and in a nice location. It felt secluded but was only a minute or two from downtown McCall. The kitchen was very well stocked. We had a variety of baking dishes, pots and pans and serveware, and there was a variety of spices and oils and sauces as well, which was very helpful. There were even recycling containers in the laundry room which I thought was a bonus. We would definitely stay here again.
Manager response:
We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are always happy to assist our valued guests and it looks like everything worked out in regards to the lockbox code mishap. Thanks for the great review and we hope to see you again soon.
