Lots of room
Sona S. | Jun 2026
The house was in a great location and very clean and cozy.
Nick P. | Apr 2026
This home has the right amount of space and coziness at the same time. The open floor plan with the kitchen, dining area and living room together allowed all five of us to be together while prepping meals. The front porch is like having a bonus room! We spent both mornings on the front porch drinking coffee, eating breakfast, reading and talking. The home is located in a neighborhood that is within walking distance to the West Tomichi River Park so that makes for a nice evening walk. We enjoyed our stay.

Explore our Gunnison vacation rentals

In the winter, Gunnison and its surrounding area is a veritable winter wonderland of opportunities for all kinds of skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and ice fishing. The Gunnison area offers plenty of other adventures for all seasons, too, like mountain biking on the excellent trails with stunning views in Taylor Park. Our cabin rentals put you close to it all.

Where is Gunnison?

At an elevation of 7,703 feet, Gunnison features a convenient, central location, just 180 miles from Colorado Springs and 200 miles from Denver. It's about 30 miles west of the Continental Divide where the Gunnison River and Tomichi Creek converge. West of Gunnison, you'll find the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Monument 62 miles away and the Curecanti National Recreation Area 16 miles away. Plentiful skiing can be found at Monarch Mountain and in Crested Butte, 42 miles east and 28 miles north, respectively. Of course, the famous ski resort of Breckenridge isn't far north, either.

Things to do near your Gunnison rental

Partake in the snowy fun at Crested Butte, and strap on your skis or board to carve your way down the mountain over pristine powder and 1,547 acres of terrain. Take a guided snowshoe tour and learn about the history of the area and alpine ecosystems as you trek your way across land untouchable by skis or snowboards, or glide your way through the silence of fresh snow on cross-country skis. For a more adrenaline-inducing activity, rent a snowmobile and careen through the backcountry for some of Colorado's most stunning mountain scenery.

Summer brings a plethora of outdoor activities to the area, and those who gravitate toward water will have more than their share of things to do. Taylor Park covers all the bases for water enthusiasts, offering premier fishing along the Taylor River with its meandering streams and the stunning Collegiate Peaks as a backdrop. Settle in for an afternoon of tranquility as you listen to the mesmerizing sound of flowing water and breathe in the sharp scent of pine pitch.

Make your way to Gunnison River and Tomichi Creek for more excellent fishing, then head home with your bountiful catch and cook up a mouthwatering fish dinner in the kitchen of your private vacation rental. Other options include renting a raft, tubing, kayaking, or canoeing down the river. If you enjoy peace and quiet above all else, you might check out our homes in the beautiful wilderness of Mt. Crested Butte.

Hundreds of miles of single track and mountain biking trails are offered in Gunnison County. Rent a jeep or four-wheeler and make your way through seldom-traveled roads in Taylor Canyon, explore the many trails by foot to encounter desert views and fascinating rock formations, or get back in the saddle and go sightseeing by horseback. After you've sufficiently explored Taylor Park, head to Hartman's Rock for similar activities, as well as rock climbing and motocross.

The summer months offer a fantastic whitewater park on the edge of town. Slather on some sunscreen and rent a pontoon boat or wakeboard on Blue Mesa. In the fall, visitors will be treated to some of the most beautiful autumn leaf viewing in the country.

Whether you're coming for vacation, just passing through, or visiting your student at Western State Colorado University, Gunnison holds a special charm and charisma that will appeal to everyone. Our vacation homes here provide travelers like you with a perfect home base during your travels. Book today.
