Recent Huntington Lake vacation rental reviews

The cabin is clean, great location, comfortable couches, & quiet. It had 3 beds & 3 baths (more than we needed). My wife really organization of the kitchen, no clutter. We'd say this condo is probably the best value in all of huntington lake.

This is about as far up into the mountains as a civilized dwellings can be. At the top of a road that is maintained all year round, at the end of the 168. The Lakeshore side of the lake is about as far into the mountains as civilization exists year round. Given its location, the fact that everything worked and was comfortable, even when snowing outside, makes me forget any minor issues I might have noticed in other locations. I used to visit a much more rustic cabin in the area that was only open during the Summer; so, being at Huntington Lake in this condo is a real treat. If you're used to 5 star luxury condos in less remote locations, you may find some things to your disliking here; however, if you enjoy being high up in the mountains and are accustom to what that is usually like, this might blow your mind (in a good way) that it exists up here. I mean, year round hot water, electricity, Roku/cable and decent Internet for the area. That's crazy-bananas cool.

Where is Huntington Lake?

Huntington Lake is tucked away in the Sierra National Forest, 72 miles northeast of Fresno, 113 miles from the Valley in Yosemite National Park, and 22 miles from the small mountain resort village of Shaver Lake.

Things to do at Huntington Lake

Known as one of California's primary sailing lakes, Huntington Lake is surrounded by mountains and boasts several marinas that offer rentals, mooring, and launching facilities. Kiteboarders can also take advantage of the lake's ideal wind conditions, while anglers flock here for trout and Kokanee salmon.

The network of trails around Huntington Lake is prime for trekking through trees to backcountry lakes alongside majestic granite peaks and stunning scenery. Whether on foot or on horseback (guided services are available), weave your way through this gorgeous wilderness looking for wildlife, and relax to the soothing sounds of nature. If you're in the mood for a picnic, the north side of the lake is the place to go!

While biking on the designated wilderness trails may not be allowed, bikers often make the challenging climb on the paved forest access roads to gaze out at beautiful mountain and valley views on the way.

In the winter, Huntington Lake's Sno-Park areas provide fun-filled days of tubing and sledding, while nearby China Peak Resort offers slopes for downhill skiing and snowboarding.
