Much of Vermont is verdant and lush, and the Lake Champlain region near the Quebec and Northern New York borders isn't any different. The Lake Champlain Islands are known for their majestic seashores and gorgeous mountain views. The area boasts 200 miles of pristine coastline - you might even spy Champ, the mythic monster that is said to reside in the lake! - as well as apple orchards and farmers markets galore.

Spotted by Samuel Champlain in 1609, the area was strategic in the War of Independence and was home to several pitch battles during the War of 1812.
