This is a beautiful property! It was perfect for our belated Christmas family gathering. The house is beautifully decorated, very clean and very spacious. There was plenty of room for all of us and the Casita was perfect for our bachelor son to get away and have his own space from time to time! The deck was perfect for fishing and just sitting a visiting. The property is perfectly located to travel for groceries, dining and general supplies. Nothing was no more than a few miles from the house. We would definite stay here again! Thank you for an enjoyable weekend.

We had a great time at staying at Arva’s Retreat. The weather did not cooperate as it was very cold although the games, internet and TV were great ways to keep the kids busy while the weather passed. The last day was beautiful and we were able to spend time down by the lake and relax. The yard has some thorns so make sure to wear shoes and watch where the dog goes although the extra items to play in the yard and float on the lake in the little shed is a plus to staying active.

With breathtaking views we settled into this ample size home to enjoy our holiday weekend. The home is nestled in a lovely neighborhood, perched on a high bluff. The sunrises and sunsets were memorable. The home is nicely furnished with up to date appliances. The downstairs den with pool table was a real hit with the family. We easily found everything that we needed in the kitchen. Can’t wait to return.

Places to Explore Near Lake LBJ

Lake Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ for short) is one of six Texas lakes formed by dams along the Colorado river, including nearby Lake Buchanan and Inks Lake. It’s surrounded by several laid-back towns, including Kingsland, Marble Falls, and Horseshoe Bay. A Lake LBJ cabin or lakehouse in one of these towns is your ideal home base for water activities and lakeside relaxation. This lake is a favorite among Austin residents, since it’s less than 60 miles from downtown Austin - an easy day trip.

Things to do at Lake LBJ

It’s all about the aquatic life on Lake LBJ. Zoom across the waves on a jet ski, take the family out on a motor boat, try your hand at water skiing, or cool down at your favorite swimming hole. If you don’t own a boat, simply rent one from a local rental company like Splash in Kingsland. After a long day in the sunshine, grill out at your cabin rental or explore the local dining options (Texas Hill Country barbecue is not to be missed).

Locals love bringing a beach chair and a cold drink down to “the Slab,” a low-water Llano River crossing in Kingsland that’s a safe swimming spot for kids. Horseshoe Bay Lighthouse is one of the lake’s landmarks, and it happens to make a great background for a family photo.

Lake LBJ charms visitors with its slow, sunny afternoons and abundance of water activities. Save your spot at a vacation rental here, and be forewarned that you may not ever want to leave.
