Beautiful home, the kitchen is huge! Easy to check in and out. Location was close by. We all loved staying here. Would come back again!

I rented the Beacon Court Townhouse for my son and his family who were coming into Douglas for a wedding. It w as perfect. It was convenient to all of the planned events for the weekend and close to our condo, which is also in Douglas. The town house was beautifully appointed, felt like home and helped to connect our many family members who had been separated through most of this pandemic. It became a safe place to help us celebrate.

Pros: Proximity, space, amenities, check-in/out, prompt reply from local management. We spent most of our time on the front porch relaxing while the kids had easy access to the beach. The place was clean/sanitary when we got there. The backyard updates are fantastic. Cons: Electrical needs to be updated to be safe. Nothing is grounded and the entire upstairs is on one circuit. Fine if you own the home but not if you are renting to the public. The porch was our favorite place but it needed a good clean/sweep to clear away the spider webs and cottonwood on the screens. The yard could use some love. Pick up the mess (old carpets, siding, paint cans). It takes away from the awesome place that it is. In general, I can tell this is a labor of love and the things you have done to the place are great. Looking forward to the fixes for the porch, bathrooms, and kitchen! We would rent again.

Things to do in Douglas, MI

Perhaps the best way to experience Douglas is by just getting out and exploring on foot. The cute downtown area is filled with eateries, antiques, and more. Don’t forget the arts scene that Douglas is so famed for—peruse the many galleries or hop over to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts to catch special events, film screenings, and exhibits.

For an aerial view of the quaint streets, harbors, and shoreline, head to Mt. Baldhead. This one-mile trail is great for a run or just to stroll and enjoy the almost 360-degree views of the surrounding town. You can even take a hand-pulled chain ferry to reach the trailhead, before climbing the stairs and ending at Oval Beach, which was voted one of the 25 best shorelines by Condé Nast Traveler.

When it’s time to experience the local food scene, you’ll find something to satisfy any craving. Start the morning off with breakfast—and maybe a mimosa or two—on the porch of the homey Pumpernickels restaurant. Grab Appalachian-inspired bites in the cute interior of the Southerner or make a dinner reservation at the chic Grow restaurant, complete with waterfront views.

No matter how you spend your time on Lake Michigan’s shores, our Douglas vacation rentals are ready to host your perfect getaway. With wineries, art, lake activities, and amazing food, it’s hard not to fall in love with this town. Browse our Douglas cabins and start planning your trip today.
