Retreat is the perfect way to describe this property, it’s tucked back just far enough off the 290 to make you feel like your out in the boonies with a great little oasis outside your back door. For myself, I thought the location and ambiance was perfect… and I rent there again if it’s just myself, and my husband or just my adult children. There are deer grazing every evening and morning and it can be very peaceful when the other two properties are not in use. However, there a few items that people should take into considerations when deciding to select this property or either of its other shared homes (the Cottage or Studio) The properties have enough space between them not to encroach on each other… but the BBQ area, fire pit, and pool are shared. So you can’t really plan on BBQ’ing every night, using the hot tub or fire pit because another guest might already be grilling and/or hanging out. For ourselves, the first evening our neighbors consisted of a 30 year + man and two very young women… both of which where in very itty bitty provocative swim attire. And they pretty much monopolized all three of the outdoor areas. Thus we opted to eat out and stayed in doors as they were just there for 1 evening… things must not have gone very good, because one of the women left at the crack of dawn, her behavior made it very clear that she wasn’t a happy camper and basically whatever was going on at that property was enough to wake up our entire household… moreover, the the remaining occupants were also not getting along, so she ate her breakfast alone and stayed in the pool area, while he loaded the car and stayed in and/or around the front of the cottage house… and we opted to leave to avoid any issues. The next two nights our neighbors staying in the Cottage consisted of some workers who were just there a few nights to do work in the area, and it was easier for them to BBQ their meals, and they liked to use the hot tub… so since we had the area pretty much to ourselves all throughout the day, we tried to be mindful of their needs and grilled early or cooked supper in our rental, so they could enjoy the amenities. Look at my age I honestly don’t care who does what… swinger or worker… it doesn’t affect me, but this trip I had two of my grand children with me… so keep in mind you don’t know who your or what your going to be exposed to👍 In addition, understand that this is a somewhat remote area, thus the word Retreat. My daughter-in-law awoke to find a scorpion just above the bed on the wall, in the bed she was sleeping in. The next morning my daughter and my 20 month old grand son were greeted by a 5” circumstance tarantula hanging out on the wall in between the window and back door frame… so when she opened the door it was basically staring her in the face… NOT GOOD… needless to say the Tarantula did not survive the encounter, as she’s a pretty serious mama bear! And after those two events; two mornings in a row, she was pretty sure she and her children were going to die if they continued to stay there. So if you have small toddlers and infants, this is probably not a good choice for your family… but if you are traveling with children who have grown up outdoors and/or are old enough to respect and understand the dangers of these types of insects… it’s a terrific place for them to explore and enjoy the outdoors💕 It’s not fancy, and I wouldn’t say that the pictures aren't accurate… but maybe a little dated. I usually stay at the Barton Creek Omni or in downtown Austin… but as I said I was traveling with a 20 month old and a 3 month old… who needed access to a frig 24/7, breakfast at the crack of dawn without waiting an hour to get it (which actually offered food they would eat), and dramaless (non restaurant) suppers. So I opted to rent a home instead. AND I still think it was the better option, considering that my grandson is very mobile and needed to be someplace where he could move unrestricted and burn off his overabundance of energy. So I’m giving it a 5 star review, because I think it can be and probably is a great rental and location if you understand exactly what your getting.

Loved everything about the house. Nice and quiet lots of room. Close to the venue just needed the yard mowed.

Had a great time, plenty of space for 10 of us. The ping pong table, foosball table, and pool were a big hit. Would definitely recommend staying here.
