Recent Ellijay vacation rental reviews

Amazing view of the daily sunsets. Perfect environment to kick back and relax with family! King bed was very comfortable and we appreciated the pack and play for our little one. The large gas grill and kitchen stocked with dishes was a plus. The owner advised 4WD/AWD is needed and I certainly agree. The road to the cabin could certainly use some work as the loose rocks and pot holes caused a gash in our tire and we missed out on a day’s worth of activities. Make sure you have a spare tire/AAA in the event that this happens to you. Despite this hiccup, we would still revisit as this cabin was perfect for our little family.

The house is beautiful and very private. The porch was wonderful. The kitchen was well set up. The bedrooms were comfortable and both downstairs bedrooms had their own bathrooms. It is about 15 minutes to Ellijay and 35 minutes to Almicola Falls State Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Was disappointed that we were informed only after booking that there is a one mile gravel road to the house and that 4wd/awd vehicles are recommended. We had front wheel drive vehicles, and while we were able to make it, one of the vehicles scraped a couple of times on the way up. Also, if it had rained, the drive would have been extremely difficult for us. Also, the fire pit was nice, but the area was much smaller than it appears in the photos.

Very easy access to cabin, quiet and comfortable place to stay for a few days to unwind and admire the area.

Where is Ellijay, GA?

This small town is located in Gilmer County of Northern Georgia, where the Ellijay and Cartecay Rivers join to create the Coosawattee River. In 2012, Ellijay received designation as an Appalachian Trail Community, a program that aims to promote and protect the great Appalachian Trail.

Downtown Ellijay

The heart of Ellijay is its vibrant downtown district, where you'll find a variety of local shops, boutiques, antique stores, and art galleries. Strolling along the streets, visitors can discover unique crafts, handmade goods, and local produce at the farmers market.

Apples in Ellijay

When you think of Georgia, peaches may be the first thing that comes to mind. But Ellijay is the state’s apple capital and is especially famous for its apple orchards, and during the autumn months, it comes alive with apple festivals and cider tastings. The town hosts the annual Georgia Apple Festival in early October. For two weekends, hundreds of vendors gather to offer live music and arts, crafts, and food centered on North Georgia culture. Each year, the festival boasts a parade and antique car show while locals and visitors celebrate the Apple Capital with apple pie and cake contests and even an Apple Queen Pageant. An Ellijay cabin rental makes the perfect home base for joining in the fun.

In nearby East Ellijay, the beginning of apple season culminates with the Georgia Apple Blossom Festival, when people come together to celebrate the beauty of apple blossoms in the spring. Dozens of regional vendors gather to sell food, arts, and crafts, so if you're visiting this area around the beginning of May, be sure to stop by for a taste of apple country.

Outdoor activities in Ellijay

Surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and the meandering waters of the Ellijay and Cartecay rivers, the town is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, and exploring the scenic landscape are popular activities in this area.

Ellijay is also considered to be the Mountain Biking Capital of Georgia because of its many miles of trails—some of the best in the southeast. Mulberry Gap Mountain Bike Get-a-Way is certainly a unique mountain bike retreat. Situated in the Chattahoochee National Forest, Mulberry Gap offers guided single-day rides or multi-day tours. Mulberry Gap even provides shuttles to trailheads, and pets are more than welcome—so be sure to browse our pet-friendly cabins for rent in Ellijay.
