After countless issues and subpar results with an on-site management company, Michele and Mike Moriarty sought a better solution for their vacation condo.
Located in Panama City Beach, Florida, their oceanfront home is part of the area’s only full-service resort and offers pool and hot tub access plus a host of other amenities. Once they partnered with Vacasa, they got the care and attention they feel their home deserves.
The final straw
After purchasing their condo in 2008, Michele and Mike Moriarty immediately began renting it out to make some extra income when the house was empty. Living six hours away, self-managing was not an option.
While they valued the 24/7 availability of the on-site company’s management and maintenance teams, they found the rest of the experience seriously lacking.
Over eight years, they dealt with nearly every type of issue: damages to their home, extra charges, poor cleaning, and underwhelming revenue. “If we had been a guest in our home, we would have walked out upon seeing it,” Michele said.
Finding a more reliable partner
At the end of 2016 the Moriartys finally started contacting different management companies to find a better fit. When they first spoke with Michael at Vacasa, “he was very informative and honest about what we could expect.” They made the decision to sign on with Vacasa, and their unit started renting almost immediately.
Another perk? The Moriartys no longer have to worry about the condition of their condo when they come to visit.
“[In the past] we would often arrive at our unit and items would be missing or broken with no explanation which always stressed us out. In April, before our arrival Vacasa notified me that a guest had broken one of the glass mirrors in the living room and it was being taken care of. This is the type of customer service we expect.”
