Cozy, dog-friendly cabin in the woods with privacy - close to adventure

Pack your bags and charge your camera to capture the beauty of nature when you book your next getaway to this family-friendly Big Bear Lake home. Nestled among the trees in a quiet neighborhood, up to seven guests will be close to hiking, skiing, and water excursions while being surrounded by tranquility. The family dog is also welcome to come along for an additional nightly fee.

About three blocks from the Bear Mountain Golf Course and a mile and a half from the slopes at the Bear Mountain Ski Resort, this home gives you easy access to all sorts of outdoor fun without hassle. During the colder months, we recommend using a 4x4 vehicle to access the home safely.

Let the stress melt away as you enjoy your morning cup of coffee under the swaying pine trees on the deck. When the sun is shining, you can head out for a day on the lake with some jet skiing or fishing, or drive down the fairways at Bear Mountain Golf Course. If snow is covering the ground, head over to Bear Mountain Ski Resort for some fresh powder shredding. Afterwards, warm up by the wood stove while you use the free WiFi to check the forecast before your next adventure. Fire up the charcoal grill or prepare a quick bite in the convenient kitchen then end the day with a nightcap on the deck.

Fill your days with hiking through tree-lined trails, cutting through the fresh powder, or paddling along the shores, this Southern California home will make it easy to make your vacation memories!

Agree with another reviewer - photos are not the reality. VERY DARK inside. Best parts were the outside decks and upstairs room. No drawers for clothes - be prepared to work out of suitcases. Stained area carpets. Peeling deck with all kinds of pine needles and pine cones. Outside not maintained at all. Windows filthy. No TV's working. Houses VERY close together. NO mountain view. They don't show a photo of the front of this home. We saw it and said - Oh MY God!!! After a 6 hrs. drive we just wanted to get settled. We had unpacked and said we would just stay. Not worth changing to another cabin. We left a day early. Can not recommend this property at all. I cannot even imagine staying here in the winter when you could not use the decks. Another reviewer was right - back yard view was of junk! Not a fenced in property. We had to walk our dog on a leash.
Manager response:
We are sorry to see this guest was so displeased with their accommodations. We have changed out the light bulbs for higher wattage ones, there are drawers for clothes in the bedroom cabinet and in the seat in the master bedroom, the carpets are scheduled to be cleaned, the yard has been cleaned up as of mid-August, the TVs work (though there is no cable), the mountain view can be seen best from the upper porch, both back decks are gated for pets, and we are working on adding a picture of the front of the home to the website. Thank you!

The cabin was clean, cozy and just as we expected (even better actually!). The owner and management were easy to work with and very accommodating! Check in was a breeze. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts. I’m looking forward to staying here again!

We had a blast as always in Big Bear. Loved the Hawks Nest. It was a perfect place to stay. LOVE the fact they allow dogs! wish more places where like that. Perfect closed in deck for our dog.

This house is not nestled in trees. It is sandwiched between neighbors. There are chain link fences surrounding it. There are weeds for lawns and a red cardboard sign in the front that says, "Private Property." I can imagine only that it is there to keep homeless people away. It was like we were plucked into a bad area in LA County. I did not feel safe at night. It is a hodge-podge of additions with different flooring in every room. The view is of neighbors. Not at all a vacation cabin and definitely NOT "cozy."

This home is in good condition and in a good location. Spacious deck and balcony. Very unique layout. Kids loved the hammock in the backyard.
The mattresses were a bit uncomfortable.
