Rustic retreat at Bear Mountain w/ private hot tub & dog-friendly attitude!

This cute and comfortable, dog-friendly three-bedroom Big Bear Lake vacation rental is tucked away in the San Bernardino National Forest, right near Bear Mountain. Rustic yet refined, it's the perfect mix of classic design mixed with updated architecture. You'll enjoy WiFi and cable TV right along with the wood-burning fireplace in the master bedroom and the decorative, gas fireplace in the living room with its beautiful, slanted wood ceiling. When you stay here, you'll also discover that the wooded views from the front deck and yard are a perfect backdrop for morning coffee or an afternoon glass of wine.

This quiet Big Bear Lake neighborhood is just a five-minute drive from the lake for swimming and boating. In winter, Bear Mountain Resort is only a five-minute drive away, with Snow Summit Mountain Resort only a few extra miles down the road. The downtown area around the lake (also minutes by car) is dotted with restaurants, shops, and galleries.

But really, this Big Bear Lake getaway is so welcoming and charming that you may be content to put your feet up and spend your time snuggling in front of the master bedroom's fireplace. The open floor plan features a comfortable living and dining area with plenty of cozy spots for curling up with a good book. There's also a wall-mounted flatscreen TV with both cable and a DVD player, as well as a movie library in case you forget your favorite flicks from home. There's even a gas firepit and hot tub outdoors!

The full kitchen is spacious with updated appliances (including a dishwasher), an absolutely gorgeous bamboo wood floor, and access to a large back deck, complete with a grill. Sleep late in the mornings, then head to the kitchen to prepare a hearty pancake breakfast for your whole hungry group. You'll have room for kitchen helpers to chop vegetables or even just keep the chef company.

This three-bedroom, two-bathroom home sleeps eight people. Guests can travel with up to two furry companions- though a nightly fee per dog and minimum fee per stay will apply. The downstairs bedroom has a king bed. Upstairs there is a room with two full beds, and a room with a queen, a twin, and a queen-size sleeper sofa. There's also a futon.

A gem in Southern California, Big Bear Lake offers activities like canoeing, boating, swimming, and fishing. Just under 100 miles from Los Angeles, Big Bear Lake is the ideal weekend getaway to unwind, relax, and take it easy in the great outdoors! Spend peaceful afternoons grilling on the deck, canoeing down at the lake, or take a nature hike through beautiful forests - the stunning fall colors are especially picturesque. And of course there's winter skiing at the two resorts, cross-country skiing trails through the forest, snowshoeing, and even sledding!

Don't feel like cooking? There are a number of restaurants near the lakeshore - everything from taverns to small bistros to take-out joints. You'll also find a movie theater in town, as well as shops and galleries. You can find the perfect memento to bring back from your Big Bear Lake vacation!

For a memorable time right in the San Bernardino National Forest, a Southern California vacation rental in Big Bear Lake offers both year-round activities and relaxation!

We had a small group stay for the weekend. The cabin was great. Very close to skiing and town for supplies. Everything was very clean and inviting.

Great house for the price we paid on MLK weekend.
Level driveway and easy access to vehicles, no stairs outside, as it snowed on us the morning we left. Master bedroom was comfy, but upstairs beds were small for 5'10" adult. Hot tub and outdoor fire pit was a nice feature to sit around. Everything worked.

The outdoor fire pit next to the Jacuzzi was great and we loved the games provided. Everything we needed to get cozy for a few days was provided. Blankets, towels, stocked kitchen etc.

Gorgeous, homely cabin tastefully done in an authentic mountain home style. Super comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed the deck surrounded by trees, and the hot tub with the fire pit!
Vacasa were nice to deal with too.

We loved this cabin felt rustic and just far enough out of town. We had all the amenities and more. Management Company was on it start to finish.
Shara C. Jul 2018
I loved everything about this house from the deck to the bedrooms it had everything you could possibly need!

Beautiful home with great spa and deck

Good size, cozy, and fun. Vacasa & team were great and very responsive. We'd be thrilled to stay there again.

In the spirit of positivity and continous improvement we would like to make the following reccomendations: turn up hot water temperature, improve hot water pressure especially in the shower. Increase the lighting in the kitchen, and bedroom. Replace couch (not comfortable). It's time to get a new filter for the hot tub (pool guy came out, cleaned, treated, and tested the hot tub which was great; but the water still seemed murky).

I can't even say enough about this place. The pictures don't even do it justice. First of all, it's the most darling cabin I've ever seen...bears and wood everywhere. It's so adorable. It's impeccably clean, which is so important and we had absolutely everything you would need in a home. We spent a lot of time in the house and really enjoyed our stay. There had been a power outage the day before our arrival and the hot tub and fire pit weren't working due to a circuit breaker, but they had a maintenance guy over in less than 5 minutes and he fixed it just like that!! Thank you so much!! We will definitely be back!

Kitchen is tiny, but overall was a great size for 5 adults and 3 kids. Both bathrooms are downstairs and there aren't many outlets in the bedrooms. Love the hot tub and fire pit!!! Also bring your own "beach" towels. There is no washer/dryer.

In a quiet area just outside the base of the mountain, this cabin is great for friends or family looking to have a fun weekend. Some fun games at the property, hot tub, fireplace, you can't go wrong!
Rene M. Oct 2017
Very clean, close to everything, very cozy. Would recommend it to anyone!!

We enjoyed our stay in the mountains with our two small pups. The cabin was very clean . We loved the hot tub and fire pit on the back deck. The BBQ was great for grilling every evening.

The name says it all. We enjoyed our stay and appreciated how clean the cabin was.

Cute and fun old school cabin that is decorated in a classic cabin theme. Very nice and good for families. Great time

This cabin is by far the nicest, biggest and cleanest I've stayed at in Big Bear. Its close proximity to the slopes, both Snow Summit and Bear Mountain is prime. Easy access to the resorts, nice and quiet neighborhood. The bedrooms are spacious and kitchen, deck, spa were all just phenomenal. My family, especially my parents (my parents are hard to please), enjoyed the cabin very much! Would stay there again. The only issue we came across with was that the shower by the stairs going to the bedroom had very low water pressure and the shower head made it worst because the water just trickles and not enough to even get you wet. Hopefully they can check the water pressure and change the shower head. Otherwise, our stay was very pleasant.

great home

Had an excellent week at this house. Hittng the hottub everyday after a 5 hour session of snowboarding was the coolest thing ever. Would definitely look forward to rent this house again.

Everything you see online is just as how the cabin is. We were worried the hot tub simce there were reviews that said the tub wasn't working. But the hot tub worked just great. It was the highlight of our stay.
Timothy P. Jan 2017
It is a wonderful cabin and well furnished. We had two families, 4 adults and 4 kids, and the accommodations were perfect!
James E. Jan 2017
Very nice property. Close to everything. Kids lived the video game console. Hot tub was wonderful. Would stay again!

This cabin was perfect for our stay. There were 6 of us and two dogs and the cabin was roomy and comfortable. Great location up by Bear Mountain with a little view of the slopes. It kept us warm and cozy during a nice snow storm. Very close to skiing and to town. The kids loved being in the two rooms upstairs and my wife and I took advantage of the nice fireplace in the master bedfoom on the first floor. Kitchen was well stocked with new appliances and everything we needed. All we had to do was fill the fridge with food. Great weather for a Thanksgiving weekend. Beautiful and clear when we got there and snowing on the weekend. We have already recomended this cabin and Vacasa to friends. We will certainly stay here on our next trip. Summer or winter.
Jason R. Nov 2016
Absolutely loved the property. Only issue that we had was there was no propane tank in the grill so we couldn't grill any food. Otherwise, everything else was great.

This cabin is Amazing ! the attention to every detail is not overlooked at all ! I feel bad for even having to say anything bad, cause this place is amazing. For my purpose though everything was ruined ! I could have booked a cheap cabin anywhere in Big Bear but I had 2 sole purpose requirements. #1 Jacuzzi for our anniversary to sip Champagne in the forest under the stars. #2 allow my Dog to come with us. # 1 was never accomplished and known one hour into check in. No attempt to rectify this was ever made ! The whole reason I chose this place was the Jacuzzi and Vacasa knew this. No phone calls back,no attempts to fix it, NOTHING ! Another thing I have a problem with is Vacasa having a 4pm check in. I paid for a day that I can not start til 5pm. Check in at office and go to grocery store then arrive. I paid for this day ! I can get a motel if all I wanted to do was go there to sleep. They will tell you about early check in, LIES ! Not here in Big Bear, only after a face to Face meeting and a copy of your ID is make, then your get the code. So, If you are going to enjoy the cabin and forest to get away and not be around people, then rent from others that are NOT VACASA ! we have had great times at other cabins where they send you the code the night before, for this very reason. All in All this Cabin has everything great and entertaining for Families. Awesome place, really had everything, Accept for working Jacuzzi,To Bad for the Management dropped the ball. Once the Jacuzzi is working, This place will be a definite WINNER !
Manager response:
We are incredibly sorry that the hot tub was not working for this guest's stay. The amenity was brand new and had some electrical issues that could not be sorted out until after the guest's departure. The hot tub is working perfectly now, and this guest has been refunded for the inconvenience.

This cabin felt like home, very Comfortable and Cozy, with a beautiful deck and view! Loved the had that cabin feel we were looking for!

I would stay here again.

This house was beautiful and it was very quiet. It was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back.
William M. Jul 2016
Beautiful, clean and quiet! Would definitely stay here again!
Christopher C. Jul 2016
Great location, very cleaning
Kimberly U. Jun 2016
Beautiful cabin, perfect quiet location and close to everything you need!
Kristin D. Apr 2016
This cabin was perfect for our weekend getaway! We would definitely stay here again. The video game machine is fun and the location is beautiful. There is not a DVD player, so don't rent any to bring up. We made that mistake because it says that the property has one. The bedrooms get cold in the winter nights, but there are plenty of blankets to keep warm. Overall, this was a great place to stay!
RAVA D. Mar 2016
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. It is very clean and had 3 beautiful decks and a big kitchen if you decide to cook. Our only complaint is the mattresses were not in the best shape in the third bedroom w no deck. It is def worth staying there though. It is very close to Bear Mountain if you snowboard or ski. And there are 2 grocery stores and nice shops at the village just a few minutes away. We will be back next winter for sure!
Lindsay W. Feb 2016
The house was very clean and accommodating for our two families. We took two, one year olds and it was nice to be able to put them in seperate rooms. The house is in a great location! It's far enough away from town so it's nice and quiet but only a 5 minute car ride to the Village and Lake. If you are going for skiing/boarding, you couldn't pick a better location. The house looks at bear mountain slopes and is a 5 minute car ride to snow summit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our few nights away at this cabin!
Heidi L. Feb 2016
Adequate, clean, roomy cabin. Great backyard for sledding in winter. We were one family with four kids and found the cabin comfortable and roomy for our family.
Cynthia S. Feb 2016
We enjoyed our stay and were thrilled that there was snow on the ground when we arrived, enough for the kids to make a snowman in the front yard and do some sledding in the backyard. Location was convenient and close to everything we needed. Took the kids to the Big Bear Snow Play and had we had more time we could have easily taken them skiing as it was just down the road from us. The property was spacious and with plenty of room for the 8 of us. My only advice would be to make sure to bring your own essentials (toilet paper, paper towels & napkins) as there wasn't any when we arrived. And if you're staying with more than a family of 4-5, you'll need additional bath towels. This was our first time renting a cabin and overall were pretty happy with the experience!
David L. Jan 2016
The property is in a great location but unfortunately the property was so dirty and not maintained very well. The price I paid per night, understanding it was a holiday season, was so ridiculously high given the properties poor upkeep, that I would never stay there again.
Manager response:
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for us. We sincerely apologize if the home was not as clean as it should have been for your arrival; the Property Manager has been made aware so he can follow-up with housekeeping regarding our cleanliness standards. The home has great space for a couple of families and a wonderful deck to enjoy!

This cabin made our trip to Big Bear extra relaxing and special. We loved that it was on a very quiet street, and that the house felt more secluded than most of the cabins we saw driving around. The decor of the house was just lovely, with lots of little details that made the place very inviting and warm. We absolutely loved eating out on the deck or just relaxing there in the evenings. The pac man arcade, recliner and fireplace are nice extras. Only tip is to bring enough clothes because we were told there's no washer/dryer. This is a great place to stay in Big Bear!
Leonor L. Aug 2015
Our family of 8 had a wonderful stay in the cabin. We loved the balconies of two bedrooms. The cabin had a great open layout, especially the furniture in the living room, video play area, and dining area was very inviting and cozy. We prepared fantastic meals in the lovely kitchen and enjoyed eating them on the awesome patio deck. The master bedroom's bed was super comfy. The cabin's location was perfect! Not too far from the lake, but just enough distance from the city to enjoy the forest's serenity.
Tina S. Jul 2015
Once we figured out how to get up and down the mountain it was a piece of cake leaving and returning back to the home. We enjoyed the fact that it was far enough away from downtown and yet close enough to get to everything within 15 minutes. Very quiet. People friendly. Instructions easy to follow on opening and closing up facility. Definitely beats a hotel.
A positive experience!

Everything was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Cabin Sweet Cabin. The service was great and the cabin was very clean. The only drawback is that the cleaning fee was a bit excessive ($160).
