Well located, home is just like the pictures here. Hot tub was easy to operate and a nice bonus to our weekend. Plenty of towels for use. Thank you!

Upon our arrival, we were very impressed with the cleanliness of the Ski Barn. All surfaces seemed to be dust free, the kitchen and fridge were clean, and the bedding was clean. The hot tub was so nice and we enjoyed playing ping pong and darts downstairs. My first disappointment was with the bathtubs. The first bathtub I tried to use for my daughter had hair in it and would not plug to hold water. The second bathtub also had hair and a disgusting clump that had to be pulled from the drain. My other disappointment was the air conditioning. AC (for health reasons) was one of the reasons we selected the house, but no matter how low we set the temp, it was still very warm (78 degrees). Overall, not completely disappointed but it could have been better.
Manager response:
Hello Danielle, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We will be sure to pass your suggestions along to our local manager who will work with our homeowner to make necessary upgrades. We look forward to hosting you again!

Beautiful house, tastefully decorated, thoughtfully equipped, very comfortable, with all amenities, a game room, a hot tub, located 5 minutes from the Sunday River base lodges.... Perfect for a family getaway during the Holidays.
The house was perfectly clean and ready when we checked in at 4pm as advertised.
Nice touch, the homeowners provided a book full of maps, trail suggestions, restaurants menus, etc

Being able to bring our dog made Christmas special. The whole family got to go. The house was spacious and clean. Vacasa, the property management company, added many nice features like bathroom toiletries, kitchen and laundry supplies along with a welcoming bouquet of flowers. Kitchen was stocked nicely with necessary pans etc. My grown kids loved that the game room was downstairs giving them some space. Darts and ping pong were enjoyed nightly. Location to the mountain is wonderful. In a great neighborhood without the steep mountain road you usually get with these homes. It also made walking the dog easier. There is a nice logging trail just beyond the house which made for a wonderful walk. Just an FYI the TV is not in the main living room but in the loft on second floor. Not a deal breaker but did change some of our traditions of cooking, eating and watching TV. It made for more lovely conversations. We will definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful cozy off-season stay filled with good hikes followed by relaxing times in the hot tub and by the fireplace. Very clean and comfortable stay exactly as advertised.

We had a very relaxing fall weekend at the Ski Barn. The location is great for exploring western Maine. The hot tub and fire pit made for some cozy evenings. We definitely want to stay here for a ski weekend sometime!

Let me just start out by saying that I had such high hopes for this cabin. In the website, it looked perfect. We loved the fact that it was in an isolated area, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Although it wasn’t cheap, I thought the price was still reasonable for our three night stay. Since we were driving up from downstate, NY and wanted to beat the weekday traffic, we left super early. About three hours into our drive, I received a text from Vacasa stating that the cleaning team was “dedicating extra time to cleaning” so we wouldn’t be able to check in earlier than the standard check-in time of 4PM. So, we made several stops along the way just to give them enough time to clean. When we finally arrived, we thought we would be walking into a cabin that would be ready to receive guests for the weekend, but boy, were we wrong! We had bought groceries for our stay and as soon as we opened the fridge, we were horrified to find disgusting spills on the shelves. Not only was the fridge not cleaned, the dining table still had crumbs left over from previous guests, the seats were gross and the floor was a mess. We contacted Vacasa immediately to notify them about the state of the cabin and the rep told me that someone from the local management team would reach out to me. About 10 minutes later, I received a call from Eric, the manager, and he told me that he would come by to check. When he did come, he saw the condition of the kitchen and even he looked disgusted. He was kind enough to wipe down everything so we could get situated and while doing so, told me that he would obviously deduct the cleaning fee from our stay. Then while we had Eric over, we started going into different bedrooms to see if the beds were clean, and noticed that some sheets were not cleaned and the trundles were disgusting. Eric told us he would bring some clean sheets for the house and he was prompt in doing so. Then we noticed a lot of other things such as that one of the coverlets had a piece of gum still stuck to it (yuck!), cigarette burn on another coverlet, stains on sheets and comforters, random strands of hair on sheets. We spent good part of our first night doing sheet and duvet cover laundry -- not what I was expecting to do on our first night in Maine. The next evening after fantastic day of exploring the town, we came back to sit in the hot tub. At first, I didn’t notice since the jets were on and it was getting a little dark, but when we turned off the jet, we saw that the water was very, very murky. Another yuck! I had my family come out immediately. One would expect the tub to be clean after paying additional hot tub fee, but that was not the case here. Not only were the basic cleanliness lacking here, while we were sitting at the dining area on our last night there, one of the vintage signs on the staircase fell down. I am so thankful that my kids and our dog weren’t playing under there or else, someone would have gotten seriously hurt!! While I reached out to the cleaning service when leaving, and was promised some sort of compensation, no one from Vacasa nor the local management reached out to me. Although I loved Bethel, ME, I would not return back to this cabin and will not use Vacasa again. Vrbo is way better in communicating with customers and the service as well. I have been traveling for years and this is the first time I had to complain about basic necessities. TRAVELERS BEWARE!! Do not fall for the pics.
Manager response:
Hi Helen, thank you so much for your feedback. We apologize that the cabin was in this condition upon your arrival. Please note that this is not in line with our Vacasa standard. We have reached out to our local housekeeping staff to ensure that the kitchen has been deep cleaned, along with all the bedding in the cabin. We do apologize that these details were missed prior to your arrival. We hope to have another chance to impress you in the future.

We just wanted a change of scenery for our kids who've been stuck home all summer. They were thrilled and impressed with the post and beam style and the open loft. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub and playing ping pong. We also enjoyed wading through and exploring the Sunday River which is just down the road.

Great house, just as described. Has everything you need. Perfect location - quiet but close to Sunday River.
Kaitlyn F. Mar 2020
This was a beautiful home with plenty of space for friends and family to join! Includes a hot tub, garage and fireplaces. The location was perfect to ski at Sunday River -it took us just over 5 mins door to door. We never wanted to leave!

We really enjoyed our stay in The Ski Barn, the home was full of amenities, cookware, games, and more. Hot tub was perfect and the fireplace was spot on.
Helen G. Mar 2019
The Ski Barn was a perfect fit for our family of six. Spacious and light with privacy from the other homes in the area. It's clean, comfortable and well appointed. We got over a foot of snow on our first night, and the driveway was plowed clean promptly. Loved the proximity to Sunday River (5 minute drive) and only about 15 minutes from the excellent Carter X-Country center. Fire pit and hot tub were both outstanding. Property is perfect for four-legged folk too :). When we had a small problem (ice took down a wire, no power loss) the response was speedy. An excellent rental experience.
Misa B. Mar 2019
We rented this home for a Family Ski Weekend to celebrate our daughter's birthday. The house was immaculate, well stocked, and convenient to Sunday River. There were helpful notes placed around the home providing instruction on how to use the thermostat, gas fireplaces, and hot tub that were appreciated. The rental binder was also filled with usable information about the home and the area. We enjoyed parking our cars in the garage, protected from the weather and found the hot tub and its privacy to be a nice relaxing spot to end the day.

Renting via Vacasa was also a pleasant experience. Emails with our stay information were timely and accurate and someone always answered the phone the few times we called. We will rent this home again on our next trip to Sunday River.

Loved the home...close to Sunday River. Plenty of room for everyone. The hot tub is great after a cold day skiing.
Sophia C. Oct 2018
We couldn’t have had a better stay. The home was spotless upon arrival and provided everything you could possibly need. The worst part was the fact we had to leave.... We will be back!!
