We really enjoyed staying this place.... it accommodate all of us very well... kitchen had all kind of cook wares surprisingly for all of us to cook and eat... place was maintained very well....

only glitch we had... couldn’t access beach shore from this property by walk... we already know there is no access road but we thought to walk through woods to get shore but there was a deep cliff after couple of meters so couldn’t get in to shore...

Where to start...Normally the reviews are nice that I write. This one, not so much. I do a lot of research ahead of time on the properties I book. As I thought I did on this one. To let you know, I am a photographer and I book these retreats for myself, and 4 others every year. First off, there were problems from the start. I originally booked this house through VRBO. After making my first deposit, I received a suspicious email stating that the house had been moved to Vacasa. And even so, I should complete my booking through VRBO. I reached out and finally got a hold of the previous booking agent on the house to verify that it was legit. Made my second payment on time, only to be told 6 days before arrival at the house that they had no record of my payment. (paid to VRBO as instructed) After a bunch of emails it was sorted out. No apologies though for THEIR mistake. When looking up the address which includes a zipcode on VRBO google maps puts the house in Cross Village, no where near where the house actually is. Luckily, I use maps all the time and was able to I.D. the house by it's roof line and the satellite image from google maps. When I asked about this, they assured me the address on the website was right, when I can easily prove it is not. Enter the address with the listed zip code in google maps...then enter it without the zip code..

When we arrived, we inspected the house. Noting right off the bat that the floors were sticky and dirty. Even though there are signs at the entrance to remove shoes (which we did) the floor ended up making our socks nearly black. The second night as we were sitting around the kitchen table several of us smelled natural gas. One of the people on the trip is a safety inspector for natural gas wells so we knew right off what it was. At that point we attempted to call Vacasa but there is little to no cell service at the house, and the wi-fi is on a metered connect that was constantly booting us off or not working. We finally got one of our cell phones to work for a bit and since the smell seemed to be coming from outside the house so we called the utility company and had them come out. The house is on propane and they could not find anything, but still..a little worrying. To make things worse the heat in the basement was cranked and would not turn off. The thermostat that we could find was set to off. It was in the high 80's during the day and low 70's at night so there was no reason for this. Upon calling Vacasa about this I was told that someone would be out and they would talk to ME about it. I found this quite irritating since it was running since before we got there and it is the owners responsibility to provide a safe environment. With a day of our vacation basically shot and a visit from the utility company at 11:30pm we all headed to bed. At 3:45am the intrusion alarm on the house went off, waking myself and my wife up. After finally figuring out how to shut it off (there are no instructions), we searched the house and found that all the doors were locked. It left us wondering what triggered the alarm. Was it an intruder? Or was it the furnace running out of control? CO2 alarm? A night of sleep was lost and put both of us completely on edge. This plus the lack of sleep ruined yet a second day of the retreat. All-in-all this property needs a LOT of work. I have stayed in multi-million dollar homes in Idaho in the Tetons, and 100,000 homes in Maine and California that were better maintained, documented than this place. And this place was more expensive than all of them. I am personally responsible for organizing and leading these photography retreats and this place made me look like an idiot. In addition to the problems above, in the kitchen, conflicting instructions on checkout requirements. No paper towels, only 2 rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom for an 8 day stay. The garage was infested with spiders and spiderwebs. And to top it off lawn care people showed up at 10am on one of the days without warning. This just isn't acceptable at this level rental. We will not be recommending this property, nor Vacasa, ever. It should be worth noting, ALL of this was sent in a private review of the property, with no response from Vacasa, thus leading to my public review.

House was nice and well kept. Neither of the ice makers worked but we managed. It was a family vacation and there was plenty of room for all of us. A nice yard to set up the volleyball net. A good time was had by all.
Manager response:
Thank you, Emily! We apologize for the broken ice makers. We are providing ice for our guests until technicians are available to repair the ice makers. Thanks again!

The Storybook Cottage was perfect. It was clean, bright and cheery. There was plenty of space for 2 families with lots of kids. The beds were comfy. There were great spaces to gather together for family time games and meals. The house is tucked back into the woods and we loved all the property for the kids to run and play in the snow. There was a little hill to sled down while the parents sat by the outdoor fire. The entire week was perfect! Phone and internet reception isnt good so it forced the teenagers to play with the rest of us. Loved it!!!

Let me know if it's ever for sale! I've never said that about another property.

Beautiful home that handles a group perfectly . . . We enjoyed a long weekend at the "Story Book"....it was beautiful. We had 3 separate families with kids, so 6 adults and 6 children. This home worked out perfectly as each family essentially almost had their own floor with plenty of space for everyone. We were there for a ski weekend and while its a bit of a drive to Nubs and the Highlands it wasnt too bad. The space and beauty of the location were worth it. My only advice would be not to plan on getting much done if you need internet, the wifi was pretty much nonexistent. We are already looking at dates for next year and will be renting this house again when we do it!!

The house was very spacious for 10 adults and 3 children. The land around the property was beautiful and we enjoyed several small hikes. 30 minutes from Harbor Springs which had cute shops and a small yet fantastic beach. The kitchen was well stocked. We had plenty of linens and towels.

We loved the property and our experience there in general.

It was Lovely! The perfect home for our retreat. Very welcoming, beautiful and fun dcor. Very comfortable arrangements, the bedrooms were sensational. Our weather and the color was not as anticipated. We had high wind warnings and rain so Mother Nature was not kind. However the comfort and beauty of the home was relaxing enough! Lots of comfortable swings and soft chairs to melt in and read or visit! Wonderful!

Wonderful unique home. The property lived up to the online pictures. Every level and every room in the house was an adventure to be discovered! There was nothing boring or run of the mill - we loved it!
