Those with a love of water will want to high-tail it to this beautiful Jamaica Beach vacation rental. Situated directly on the canal, this home is the perfect launch site for an aquatic adventure!
This lovely canal-side home is about 15 miles from Galveston, right next to Galveston Island State Park. The public boat launch and public beach access are less than a mile away, making this an ideal rental for sailing, boating, and other water-based activities.
This split-level home offers a boat slip for convenience. Guests may even fish off of the upper and lower back decks.
The interior of this home reflects it waterfront location with a blue palette and wicker furnishings. Ocean fish are illuminated by the wall lamps, adding a sense of wonder. The beamed ceiling creates extra space, and the windows bring in natural light to create airiness.
The main living area on the second floor boasts an open floor plan perfect for entertaining. Set atop a new wood floor, guests may enjoy cable or DVDs on the flatscreen TV or spread out a board game on the dining table. The home has its own selection of movies and games to pick from. A CD player is available for mood music, or you can stream your favorite tunes or radio station via WiFi.
This home has four outside areas. The first level has a patio out front with a gas grill for cookouts, as well as a back patio with lounge chairs. The second floor has two balconies with plenty of space to entertain or relax quietly morning and night.
The quaint kitchen is cozy with soft lighting and model ships sailing across the tops of the cabinets. Although compact, this kitchen packs a punch with extras like a blender, a coffee grinder, a waffle iron, and a dishwasher. Eat casually at the four-top breakfast bar, or family style at the dining table set for six.
Up to nine guests will sleep comfortably in this home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. On the second floor are two bedrooms, each with queen beds and private TVs with DVD players. One even has deck access for morning coffee or reading in the afternoon. Downstairs is a single large room with a twin-over-full bunk bed, a futon, and a full bathroom, making it a great space for a family to share. (This room can only be accessed from the outside of the house.) There's also a private washer and dryer for your convenience.
If you're traveling with a large group, consider renting this house together with the home across the way, We Shell Sea (ask us for additional details).
This home is close to Jamaica Beach's community pool and park, which guests may use for a small daily fee. Beach access is less than a mile from your front door, and there's a boat launch even closer. Of course, with your own boat slip, any adventure via watercraft can start right past your door!
For other outdoor adventurers, you can hike and view wildlife at the nearby Galveston Island State Park. The urban delights of Galveston are only a short distance away, including shopping and gallery viewing on the Strand, and theme park adventures at the Historic Pleasure Pier or Schlitterbahn Water Park.
For beach goers who desire quick access to the water, this Texas vacation rental is the perfect fit.

Great location, very clean and spacious.
The location was great! The dock out back is on a canal with easy access to Galveston Bay. We easily launched our kayaks and enjoyed exploring the neighborhood and a little bit of the bay.
We prepared lunch and breakfast easily in the big kitchen. My family sat at the bar to eat, and while I was cooking. There is a dining table as well. We used the grill for some fresh shrimp from Alex's seafood market. It worked well. Bring your own grill tools and foil.
I enjoyed the back deck over the dock. It has a large sitting area. I also did a little sunbathing on the lower side deck.
The bedrooms are split with the bunk beds on the ground floor. The upstairs beds were comfortable enough. I didn't try the beds downstairs. The bathroom on the first floor is much more spacious than the one on the main level. The laundry is on the ground floor as well.
A drawback is that the stairwell is outside so a family with young children might not be able to use the bunk room without an adult rooming in.
Some of the outside furniture was showing wear - I imagine the climate is hard on the wood. There was a cushion missing and some stains on the light colored cushions on the upper deck.
I couldn't figure out how to turn on the outside shower on the side deck (after kayaking) so I'm not sure it was working.
I wish we had more time here. We arrived late in the evening, had one more night, and left the second morning... The neighborhood is quiet. A great place to relax!
Im not sure that the other people stayed in the same location because this house is disgusting. We were there for 2 days and completely overwhelmed by roaches. The downstairs bedroom smells like mildew so bad its actually unusable. When we first got there the downstairs area was covered in trash and empty beer bottles. Those cute colored chairs? Yea - those are thrown around on the porch. 3 of them actually. Covered in rotting leaves and flowers. The cookware was caked in so much food and filth we actually had to go buy stuff to cook with. The BBQ pit doesnt work. So bring one or drive 30 mins to Wal Mart and buy one like we had too. The bedroom closet doors are all broken off and just proped up on the wall (look closely and you can see this in the photos) The kitchen cabinets are actually falling off and the couches are ripping apart. DO NOT put food in the fridge downstairs. It doesnt work and we almost lost $100 in meat. Fortunately we caught it and we were able to save it. It was hands down the filthiest rental we have ever stayed in. Hopefully Vacasa makes this right and changes the pictures to be acurate. And hopefully the homeowner reads these reviews and sees that the house is in need of major repair and cleaning.
We apologize for the several disappointments this guest appeared to have experienced during their time here. The grill is working, it was simply out of propane which has been refilled. The manager has hosed off the Adirondack chairs and deck and is planning to discuss trimming oleanders with the owner to avoid the old foliage falling all over. We discovered no sign of mold in the downstairs bed or bath. We did clean the window unit/filter with mold & mildew remover in case smell came from that. All closet doors are properly aligned except one that is scheduled for repair. The baking ware has been replaced, and we are discussing furniture updates with the owner. Thanks!
Loved this little place the whole weekend!! Neighbors were fantastic too!!
We loved the home and the views from front and back deck. The home had droppings in the kitchen and I seen 1 roach. Also the home had 2 nails in the back of the deck sticking up very dangerous if walking with no shoes. If that was taken care of the stay would of been perfect. Other than that the stay was great for our group.
The nails have been hammered back in, and the home has been sprayed for roaches. Thank you!
Me and my family stayed here for a week and we loved it. Everything was clean and in order. We had everything here that we would have had at home. The fishing was great behind the house. The location was awesome. The house next to us was been worked on but the work crew kept the noise down when we were there. The beds were comfy. I can't wait to go back in a few months. I will recommend this house to my friends and family. The washroom was great and came in handy with us being there for 5 days. We were able to check in early which was a plus. No late checkout was available which was kinda a bummer but it was still a awesome stay. Even though the house didn't have the fishing light we were able to use the neighbors by just casting over to the lights. The front deck was awesome to sit out on and have dinner outside and drinks outside. Great neighborhood. The house was very clean when we got there.
We stayed over the Christmas weekend. The home was spacious, very clean, and nice location. We will definitely stay here again!
I would not recommend this house to any one.
Will not be back.
This home suited our needs with the exception of non working grill, no ladder to get out of canal while swimming and fishing lights not working we had a great time.
House is nice outside and in a great neighborhood. Needs a good cleaning inside and some TLC. Killed two roaches when we first walked in. Dirty baseboards and door frames. Upstairs shower has water damage and wall is peeling. We have been going to Jamaica Beach for 7 year's and have stayed in newer and older canal homes. This one will be at the bottom of the list.
We had a good experience at Stolen Moments. Our kids had a great time fishing and swimming. We'd definitely stay here again.
We had such a wonderful time here in this home. The children swam, the adults caught a few fish, only live shrimp in this canal though, nothing else works. Easy access to west at for fishing if you want to chase reds and trout all day or like my kids a little jet ski . We got a little noisy the first night however the the officer was very polite and just advised us to keep it down and soft. Everyone enjoyed so very much that they all can't wait to do it again. Great stolen memories. Lol
Great property. Gated balcony was safe and wonderful for children to play and adults to relax. Open concept great room and kitchen made it accommodating for two families of four. Sounds of the breeze , water and wildlife were amazing and relaxing.
First time staying on the canal. Loved it will not return to the beach after this stay. Stolen Moments is by far the best place I have ever stayed in the Galveston area. I plan on returning soon.
Good fishing, great for kids. We brought a kayak and explored the canals. Close to great beaches.
Fishing off the back deck around dust was great for the kids, we caught a ton of fish. Use shrimp and fish off the bottom. The kids will go wild!!!
Had a great time! My family of 6 thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. We kept a 21' Kenner in the slip for ultimate convince.
our stay was more than extravagant! the house have everything needed and very comfortable. My friends and i are already looking to book this exact location next year. Thank you all so much.
We loved spending time on the back deck overlooking the canal. Many like to fish but we enjoyed watching the frequent avian visitors. Also, it was great to jump into the canal for a cooling dip after a trail run in the adjacent Galveston Island State Park. A few maintenance issues related to operating the blinds and shutters should be addressed. Overall a very enjoyable experience.
Rented this place for the weekend with a few buddies just to relax. So here's the goods and a couple of bads. The first bad(wasn't that bad), I called and spoke to a representative to check if there was an opportunity for early check-in, which she mentioned there shouldn't be a problem since it hadn't been rented since last week. Needless to say I received an email shortly thereafter saying that we could not because the property was being cleaned, go figure. We were there waiting 2 hours before our check in and there was no cleaning because it had already been done. Any way the second piece was the fishing light did not work...real bummer for a canal home. All in all, the place was very clean and everything we needed was provided. Can't beat the price for this property.
We stayed here for a guys trip and had a great weekend!
The house was nice, but it could have been a little cleaner, dirt on floor in one bedroom and ac filter very dirty and needed changing. The houses are very close together, we had loud people across the water and workers at house next door working all day and into one night with loud tools, there were times we wanted to be outside but because of noise stayed inside. We realize that is no fault of house and can happen, just be aware you are surrounded by other people all the time. Overall we had a nice time.
Truly enjoyed our time here and will definitely consider if we return to Jamaica Beach.
The location was great and it was in an area in the canal that did not have a lot of traffic so you could fish without too many boats going by. We did have issues with cable not working in the bedrooms and the night fishing lights were not working. We really wanted to fish from the house at night in the lights. The house is nothing fancy but it was perfect for our needs and very accommodating for two couples. The price was reasonable and we really did enjoy our stay.
great vacation about 30 minutes from downtown galveston was nice and cozy
It was in the process of being up graded. We were happy to find the laminate floors instead of carpet as in the original pics. The downstairs bath has been remodeled and up stairs bath had a new vanity with 2 sinks which was an improvement over the pics. The main reason to stay here is the deck and boat slip at least for us. It was quiet and peaceful and a nice retreat.
Overall a good experience and good house for a vacation weekend with our boys.
Unable to check in early because the unit needed to be cleaned, then upon arrival the rental was filthy. The downstairs bathroom had dirty towels and wash cloths on the floor and sink. A full trashcan with dirty diapers and the shower curtain was half torn off. The floor was in need of a sweep and the toilet had what I can only describe as pubic hair on it and was in need of a scrubbing. Upstairs large cob webs hanging from the light fixture above the kitchen counter. Batteries missing from several of the remote controls. Cable box was disconnected and no instructions for set up or wifi access. There was a binder on the table that was filled with nothing but restaurant menus. A binder with cable and wifi instructions as well as checkout procedures would have been much more helpful. The refrigerator also smelled of fish. The boat lift under the rental property was damaged and not operational.
The bedrooms appeared clean and the sheets and bathroom towels did as well. There was an empty chip bad stuffed in the couch cushions also. The pictures on the website give you the feeling that the view is better then it really is. The best part was the sound of the wind and water while your going to sleep, very relaxing. The neighbors were great and mostly kept to themselves. We stayed on new years eve and other then a few fireworks at midnight it was very quiet. Was a little annoyed they offered me a late check out of 7pm if I paid an additional $30.
Long story short, looks can be deceiving. We would not stay here again.
PS: I have pictures of the mess in case anyone wants to see them.
Thank you for your review. We sincerely apologize that the home had not been properly cleaned prior to your stay but we appreciate you letting us know so we could have a housekeeper come in and get the home completely cleaned for you. The home does not come with a boat lift but there is an included boat slip that can be used. We apologize for any confusion regarding that. The homes amenity information is included in that digital binder that we share with our guests before the start of each reservation. This is where information such as the cable instructions and wifi password are located. We hope you enjoyed your time at Jamaica Beach and made some wonderful memories!
I had rented the property directly across the street, however it was infested with bugs. The management company quickly came over and moved me to this home. It was a bit dated, but it was insect free! Overall it was a great home if you looked passed the dated look and furniture.
i don't want to be rude but I'm not very happy with this house. Even though the rate is reasonable but the whole house is so dirty. It looks like no one clean up after guests leaving. Also it seems like the owner doesn't care about this house at all. No one check on us when we arrived, and I think that's weird. I rented before and at least the owner give me a call or I could call them and they answer right away. If next time I come back here & need to stay for longer days I wouldn't rent it again, sorry to say that but I can't stand the dirtiness and the ac is so loud. The front door makes creaking noise when open/close. The only thing I like is the living room is very spacious, 9 to 11 people could stay comfortably in this house. If you don't care about the dirtiness and the beach view/front, then this house is very good for its rate & location.
Thank you for taking the time to review this home. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with this property. At Vacasa, we like guests to enjoy their stay with minimal interruptions, which is why we adopt a self-serve approach and only contact guests when absolutely required. We will take your other comments into consideration and forward them to our local manager. Thanks for staying with Vacasa!
We visit Galveston every summer for our junior beach volleyball tournament. We have stayed in Jamaica beach for 2 years now and love the location. Great place to relax. It is a fun and safe location for children.
