The Pictures didn't lie Truly a Beautiful and Cozy House with a Breath Taking View.
Nicole P. Sep 2020
The view at the house is breath taking. Our daughters enjoyed all the wonderful toys; although, I was a little nervous with our 1 and 3 year old on the porch as the fence was corded. Great access to a wide variety of hikes.

The house is beautiful, to say the least!!! Has amazing scenery.
The house had everything I could ask for. The central air system works *toooo well* in the master bedroom downstairs but not so well upstairs. Also, the fridge wasn't as cold as we needed it to be at first but it def got colder the second day. Perhaps it was turned off for a period of time then turned on the day we showed up? Not sure.

Also there's a door to the crawl space/central air pipes etc in the Master Bedroom that creeped me out! I feel they should have a better door knob. The one there only had a magnetic one, I would have slept better if it had a better/sturdier one.

Anyway, the stay was lovely. Jacuzzi was super relaxing. We saw bunnies, iguanas, squirrels (gray ones, not brown ones we see in LA), and also saw two coyotes.

We took beautiful pictures and had many memorable moments. Would probably stay here again bc our drone took amazing photos of the mountains and sunset!
Manager response:
Valeria, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Idyllwild Overlook! The refrigerators sometimes take a while to cool back down after being loaded with groceries. We are sorry you did not feel as safe as you wanted to in the MBR due to the crawl space doorknob. Your suggestion is noted. We look forward to hosting you again! Thank you!

My wife and I were able to take time from our busy work lives and get away for 2 nights and there could not be a better place. You really have to go out of your way to see any neighbors around. We enjoyed the jacuzzi both nights and enjoyed the fire pit one night. Their stereo system was amazing and we enjoyed all our favorite artists and songs on youtube. Watched our favorite shows on netflix. Bbqd steaks and lamb chops on the grill one night. All the restaurants were great in the area! The view was great at all times of the day! The interior design and decorating was very nice. We will definitely be back.

This is a wonderful house at a great location. My husband and I stayed for 10 days July 13-24 2020) to escape the COVID madness from the big city and found a very relaxing retreat. The house is brand new and build at the edge of the 2018 fire. You have a beautiful view into the valley looking towards Mountain Center. In the morning, we just sat on the patio, drank coffee and watched the wildlive. We saw squirrels, wood peckers, coyotes, deers, rabbits, vultures, ravens - all from the patio. After sunset, we enjoyed the fireplace and the hot tub. During the days we often went hiking. There are great hikes in the area just 10 min drive from the house.

Inside the house we enjoyed the living room/kitchen area, which is beautifully set up. We used the beautiful master bedroom/bathroom, which is downstairs and has a separate entrance. From there you can look into the wilderness in the morning. It is the coolest room in the house in summer. The upstairs adult bedroom is spacious, but be aware that it is the warmest room in the house (even with AC on). We don‘t have kids but if you do, they will enjoy the kids bedroom, which has all kinds of toys, a chalk board, and a play kitchen.

We don‘t agree with previous reviews that the kitchen is well equipped. It is OK, but if you stay for longer and are into cooking there are a couple of things missing. We left a list with suggestions for the house manager. Bring a can opener and a scissor!

There are also a couple of other things that were either defect (e.g. roller blind automatic) or broken (e.g. umbrella, patio pillow) or missing (e.g. towel holders in master bedroom) when we arrived. We also informed the house manager about it.

Given these small imperfections, we gave it a 4/4.5 Star rating. But we would easily upgrade to 5 Stars if some of the issues would be taken care of.

Our house manager Nikki was very approachable and helpful. Our first contact was a bit difficult to make, because we had to wait for 2 hours on the phone line before we got through. This seems to be a general issue with Vacasa during the pandemic. But after making this first contact we could easily communicate with Nikki via text messaging and this went very well. Thanks Nikki! :-)

Some tips for the next visitors:
- The TV has all kinds of Apps to log into your Netflix etc. accounts. If you bring your own streaming box or video game console, bring also a multi-outlet extension cord (not enough outlets free at the TV!).
- WiFi is good for HD streaming. Upload rate is not too high, but doing Facetime was not a problem. Some webpages seemed to be blocked (we informed the house manager).
- The TV comes with a nice Sonos sound bar. Great to play Musik. There is also a large bluetooth speaker.
- There is a guitar in the living room! We can‘t play, but if you can, you will enjoy it.
- Setting up the patio umbrella can be an issue when it is gusty. When we arrived, the old one was broken (probably due to winds). We got a new one, but could not use it much, because of the gusts. As a solution we moved the kitchen table/chairs and some of the patio furniture to the main entrance side of the patio, which has shade until about noon, and there we were able to have breakfast or enjoy coffee in the morning without getting cooked by the sun.
- They are currently doing power constructions in the area. The day we arrived we had no power until 6:00 pm. The rest of the days we were fine.
- There is a house construction site just beside the house. It was quiet the entire time while we stayed but they started with some wood constructions just when we left.
- Idyllwild has some nice shops that are currently open (coffee roasting, creamery, wine tasting etc.). Try out the brewery! There is a growler in the kitchen to bring beer home. They also sell crowlers. Several restaurants also offer take out. Note that most shops and restaurants are closed on Wednesdays. The supermarket has most of what you need and is open every day.
- If you go hiking, you need to leave a pass in the car at most places. Note that the Ranger station in town is currently closed due to the pandemic, but you can purchase a daily ($5) or annual ($30) Adventurer Pass at the Country Farms shop next door. The AllTrails App was very helpful to find informations about trails close by.
- The town and hiking paths apply strickt COVID rules (masks and social distancing), which we found exemplary!

The most amazing place to stay in Idyllwild! Gorgeous in every way.

This is a gorgeous house and we really enjoyed our time here. However potential visitors should know that there is a large construction site right next door. The neighbouring house burned down a while ago and they are now in the very early stages of rebuilding. On our visit in mid June that meant heavy duty machinery and a lot of construction noise, starting at 7am and continuing until late afternoon. Our plans to spend the day hanging out at the house and relaxing on the deck had to be scrapped as a result. That turned out to be fine because we really enjoyed the hike that we went on instead but if you are choosing this place envisaging lazy days of peaceful solitude be warned that you might find yourself having to revise your ideas too. On the other hand if evening and night time peace and quiet are enough for you then it’s a really great pick. The kitchen/living area is terrific. The beds are mostly comfy. The downstairs bathroom in particular is brilliant. The view is lovely. The local Vacasa representative was helpful and very friendly, although she was not able to offer any form of partial refund for the place not being quite as advertised.

Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Ben! We are pleased that you enjoyed the home and amenities included. We are sorry about the noise from the neighboring home. As discussed with the local staff we were not able to offer any compensation for the noise. We hope to host you again very soon. Thank you.

We love this house!!! Easy to access from town or the highway, but tucked away enough to enjoy nature without any awareness of neighbors. Hike out into the national forest from the back door or pick from local hikes just a short drive through town. Breathtaking views of the forest can be seen out the floor to ceiling living room windows that open up to the fully furnished outdoor deck with fireplace, outdoor couch, dining table and of course, the hot tub. Every detail is considered and nothing overlooked in this beautifully updated home from the natural light flooding in from the skylights to the relaxing soaking tub in the downstairs suite. No reclaimed wood, rustic deer sculptures you find in other cabins... just elegant renovations that enhance the relaxing, spa-like vibe. With a fully furnished kitchen, we cooked every meal and didn't have a reason to leave the house throughout our entire stay. In the evenings we lit an indoor fire and enjoyed a glass of wine in the hot tub. This home is our ideal and we can't wait to come back and stay again!

We had such a good time here! The view and deck were amazing. It was very clean and stocked with everything you could need.

very nice place to stay, great for kids especially during snow season you can literally walk outside and have a blast. My wife doesn’t like the cold or the snow at all but this place changed her mind we will definitely come back. We plan on making this a yearly trip. Might need 4x4 if heavy snow I wouldnt take a car. Overall 5star place had plenty of cooking utensils and made my experience great.

This place is amazing. The view is the best I have seen in the area. You feel like you are the only one on the mountain. Everything is brand new in the house, it is so clean and fresh with plenty of room to spread out. I don't know if I loved the hot tub or the amazing kitchen more. We did not bring our kids this time (it was so romantic) but I want to bring them back. The deck was child safe and they had sleeping options for the whole family I highly recommend staying here. You will love it.

After having a crazy busy month at work, we decided to get out of the city for a few days and recharge in Idyllwild. The Idyllwild Overlook was the perfect house. It was decorated perfectly, sparkling clean and in a great location that was private but close to the town center. We were able to relax in this comfortable house and even get some creative ideas down for our small travel company. The stay and the house were exactly what we needed for some relaxation and inspiration! I would highly recommend it to anyone!

My family and I absolutly loved this cabin! The view was so breathtaking. I loved how the house was designed to incorporate the views in just about every room. can't wait to go back!

Our stay from the very start to finish was everything we needed. It was very easy to find and close to so many great local spots. We wanted to get out of the city for a few days and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. The killer view and back patio was amazing. There's a fire with a seating area and table and even a jacuzzi. This place has it all. It had everything we needed to cook and make coffee so that was a nice plus as well. The decor and attention to detail was impeccable. My favorite was the shower with the window that made you feel like you were right outdoors. My husband and I couldn't have had a better time. Would def recommend to anyone! Can't wait for our next trip back.

We had a great time staying here. The view is beautiful and the house is clean and modern. Our kids enjoyed the kids room and it was nice how the hot tub was set into the deck. We look forward to coming again!

The home is wonderfully placed on the edge of the San Bernadino National Forest which captures the amazing views and fresh mountain air. Newly renovated and spotless throughout with all the amenities for a family of 5. Perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway or an extended stay.
