Oceanfront home w/ a private hot tub, views & shared pool - steps from trails!
Spend time at this Sea Ranch bluff home and you may never want to leave! Up to six guests can relax and take in gorgeous ocean views from the deck and many picture windows inside. There's even a hot tub tucked away behind a privacy panel for a leisurely soak at the end of the day.
Located between Smuggler's Cove to the south and Stengel Beach to the north, this three-bedroom home is well-situated. Take a walk on the Bluff Trail for even more stunning views as you make your way down to the beach or follow through the hedgerow for forested views. A shared pool lets you cool off in style on warmer days. Swimming pools and tennis courts are available at the Sea Ranch Del Mar, Ohlson, and Moonraker Recreation Centers. Mendocino is just over 50 miles to the north and charming Gualala is about seven miles away for groceries or a meal out.
The open floor plan inside is light and bright with wood accents, while a wall of windows let the outside in. On chilly evenings create a mood and warmth with a fire in the wood-burning fireplace and music on the stereo, while you settle back and watch a Blu-ray, DVD, or cable on the flatscreen TV. There's WiFi, so bring along that camera and post some ocean shots!
The kitchen is stocked with major appliances, so after you pick up some groceries at Surf Market in Gualala, you can come back and prepare a feast. The dining table has spots for all six guests and you'll be able to enjoy dinner with a view.
The deck is a great retreat for sunny afternoon barbecues. Alternately, escape to the courtyard garden and enjoy the hot tub.
After a full day, choose one of the three bedrooms for a good night's sleep. The master has a queen bed and its own attached bathroom, a TV with a DVD player, and more lovely ocean views. The two other bedrooms each have their own queen bed and share a bathroom. This Whitewater Retreat is ideal for up to six guests.
The Sea Ranch offers an opportunity to get away from it all and relax. Meander along the Bluff Trail, walk through the Monarch Glen Trail, or spend time looking for abalone shells and exploring tide polls along the mix of rocky and sandy beaches.
Point Arena and its lighthouse is about 20 miles from your door and while in town, you can also catch a movie at the Arena Theater and then finish up the day with something interesting and tasty at the cash-only Uneda Eat. Other day trips can include a hike through the Gualala Point Regional Park or an afternoon of wine tasting at the Annapolis Winery, about nine miles east.
However you spend your time, this charming Northern California Coast vacation home offers great amenities, wonderful views, and the perfect home base for your Sea Ranch adventure!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Whitewater retreat. The house was updated, sunny, the perfect secluded spot with amazing views and trails. We wish we had an extra day to enjoy it. It was fully stocked and had the perfect deck to take in the view and enjoy a cup of coffee!
The house is in a great location and the layout was perfect for us. We walked the trails, watched the seals nearby on the rocks and sat on the back deck with a glass of wine and watched the whales go by. We will definitely be back!
This was a comfortable, well equipped home with big windows looking onto the ocean. It is right on the bluff trail so there is easy access to everything.
This was the perfect place to have a great girls relaxation weekend. Everything was clean, directions for check in were accurate, and even the people in the community and town were extremely welcoming.
Loved the views from the house and easy access to the bluff trail.
The house is literally steps away from the main cliff-top walking path and tide pools.
With 3 bedrooms, it's a good size for most families.
Kitchen had all the gear you might need.
Overall, it's a very good place to stay at Sea Ranch. We'd book it again.
Wonderful location, access trails right out your door. Enjoyed my coffee out on the porch every morning. Bring your own beach towels for the hot tub and when you go to nearby beaches (there are no extra towels besides one bath towel for each guest).
Great location, right on the bluff. Nicely maintained house. Perfect for families with kids.
Clean and beautiful home with amazing view. Well supplied kitchen and comfy beds. Hot tub was very clean and well maintained. Loved our stay here!
A great place to stay with a stunning view of the ocean. Cliff path is just a few steps away.
Spectacular view. Great house. Watched whales from the deck and living room
Wonderful view! Whale watching from the house. House well equipped and maintained.
Pro: good location, very close to coastal trail and we saw whales!
Con: VACASA confirmed one price and charged a higher amount to our credit card. They knew the correct charges as the home was rented before and after our arrival.
Great location by the water and close the sea lions reserve. House very cosy and kitchen well equipped. Master bedroom with view of the water. The 2 other bedrooms not so exiting
Excellent location, beautiful views, well furnished for a family of 6.
The Whitewater house was fabulous. Warm, inviting, incredible views from the dining room, living room, and master bedroom. It feels homey and inviting - everything was smooth from start to end. They thought of everything so no hiccups, no stresses - except deciding when to go for walks along the bluff ;). The house is right on the path - you can’t go wrong whichever direction you choose. Marine life and stunning views await you. Thank you for making it such wonderful experience!
Located at an idyllic spot in Sea Ranch, steps from the trail along the coast, with gorgeous whitewater views of the ocean. About 1/4 mile to a Seal Rookery, good whale watching, short walks on the trail to access several beaches. About 10-15 minute drive to the grocery in Gualala. Kitchen is well equipped. Hot tub is on the driveway (non-ocean) side, but you can retract part of the fencing so that there are ocean views from the hottub, which is a clever touch. Working fireplace, beautiful stars on a clear night.
Only qualm is some minor maintenance issues, which I didn't care much about but some might. One couch had a prominent stain, the handle for the screen door was broken, and one bed frame was shot such that the bed sagged in the middle (luckily, we could use this as a kids' room anyway). But overall, recommended for the amazing views and location.
We were able to fix the broken support leg on the bed, and we have ordered a replacement part for the screen door that will be installed as soon as it arrives. We are glad to see everything else was enjoyable!
Master bedroom and living room are great and filled with light and amazing views. The other two bedrooms are small and fairly dark so better for children than 3 couples. Loved that you can see both sunset and sunrise from the house
A wonderful way to get away from the busyness of life and just relax and enjoy the beauty of Sea Ranch. You can walk for miles only hearing the sound of the ocean. In the darkness of night you can see nothing but the stars. You can read for hours. taking an occasional break to just sit and watch the waves roll in. You can enjoy all this while staying at White Water Retreat. The only regret is when you have to leave and go back into the real world.
My husband and I met up with 3 adult children at Sea Ranch. The house we stayed in was in an ideal spot for walking the beach trail, listening to the ocean and viewing seals and wildlife. The dining room table fit the 5 of us, and the kitchen roomy enough for several cooks. Listening to the ocean from the hot tub was a nice ending to the day. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. We were able to find all of our groceries at the Surf Market in Gualala, and spent some time in Mendocino as well. Great location for our vacation.
This is a very cozy home adjacent to the sea bluff with beautiful views. Paths along the bluff allow for miles and miles of scenic walking.
Nice and comfortable house at a perfect location overlooking the ocean.
Great house and amazing location with beautiful views. Only slight downside were the ants (I think common in areas close to water).
From the main areas of the house, master bedroom, living room - you can see the ocean quite nearby. the small deck is a great place to have your coffee in the morning, watching the water for dolpins, etc.(I saw one!). Bedrooms are good, the master is the best with a huge window looking out over the Pacific. Ohter bedrooms hold two people in a tight double bed, but adequate. Beautiful finish, using lots of wood and stone in the well-designed house, many objects by local artisans and artists decorate the place. We will be back!
When searching for a vacation rental online it's sometimes difficult to know if the property and location will live up to the photos displayed. I can assure anyone contemplating a stay at Whitewater Retreat that it delivers as advertised. Enjoy!
stargazing from a hot tub; sunsets; seals; tide pools; patios good for groups
We enjoy our stay in this house, which has everything you need and has a perfect location with views over the Pacific Ocean from most rooms and from the nice outdoor jacuzzi.
However, considering what we pay and that we pay for cleaning we would expect the house to be cleaner at arrival than what it was. For example, the bathrooms had lots of hair on the floors and around the toilets. There was even an old contact lens lying on the middle of the bathroom floor. When using paper tissues to clean the bathrooms at arrival, the tissues turned yellow when cleaning up around toilets. Not what you would expect from a clean house of course. The kitchen had lots of greasy/dirty china and tools. The garbage room was overfull so not possible to put garbage in the bins. When we were about to use the barbecue we had to clean the grid and empty the barbecue from several containers of old ashes. So, while we were very happy with the house and the location, we have been disappointed with how it was prepared for us. We contacted Vacasa about this and were told that they would contact the local management, but we never heard anything about this again which of course was even worse. This was a big disappointment to an otherwise very nice place.
We're very sorry the guests arrived to a home that wasn't clean to their, or our, standards. We pride ourselves with having the home prepared for a guest to check-in and relax. The property manager contacted the guests personally, apologized and refunded their cleaning fee. Thank you.
Great, place! Relaxing with wonderful views :)
Amazing view, wonderful home, better then we imagined it would be. Great location and very cozy for our family of 6. Home has steps up and down a couple of levels so might not be good for those less able-bodied...but WELL worth it if you can make those few steps up or down.
What a delightful home in a beautiful spot. Loved every aspect of it.
It's great to wake up and to see and hear the ocean right out your door. And then go down to the bluffs and see the seals. And then watch the sun set at night. With nothing but nature.
The location is a nice one hour walk from the lodge and a short 20 min walk to one of the rec centers. I really liked the size and layout of the space inside the home. The living room is very comfortable and it was great to watch the sunset from the window. Everything was clean and tidy.
Beautifully and thoughtfully appointed home. Great ocean view location with only a few steps from the coast trail.
The view from this home is amazing and we really enjoyed the outdoor patio! We loved waking up in the master bedroom to see the view of the ocean from the large window. The house is cozy and we really enjoyed the spa. The living room furnishings and some of the cookware could use updating. I have stayed at the house many times and will most likely stay again.
Enjoyable stay. We saw deer, hawks, herons and seals – but, sadly, no whales :-( In fact, we didn't realize how close we would be to seal activity (the headland directly in front of the house is great for observing during high tide) and the rookery is just around the bend (be sure to go there during low tide). Binoculars are especially helpful, but not necessary.
We really unplugged: watched shooting stars at night, used the fireplace, went for walks and enjoyed our time together. It was a great week overall. We were lucky to have come during a sunny work week when we saw fewer than 10 people walking past the house the entire time. So privacy is definitely a word I would use to describe the location, but I cannot speak for a weekend or holiday break.
The window/chairs sold the place for us! All the equipment worked without any problems. We used the two black chairs, which were comfortable, although I agree with another reviewer that the master bed was uncomfortable. We were just two people, and the space is cozy but has a good floor plan to accommodate more. On a practical note, be sure to bring a hair dryer. Although the rental is toasty, not having a hair dryer makes a difference if the weather is cold and you plan to step outside.
One unpleasant matter that hit us upon arrival was coming to a house full of bugs: ants, house flies and fruit flies. We called the office right away and the next day they brought some traps, sprays and a vinegar bath for the fruit flies. According to the rental office, the house had tenants the night before so it hadn't been sitting unused. It was a disappointing first impression that left us questioning the cleanliness of the kitchen/hot tub.
Like I said, we enjoyed the stellar location, but because we had been looking forward to this week away, this initial detail kind of left an unpleasant taste for us.
We stayed at the Whitewater Retreat House which is close to the shoreline with wonderful views. Out weather was perfect; a few showers the first morning, but then cleared up to be sunny and beautiful the remaining days. Home is comfortable and well equipped.
Great view. Great location. Very comfortable house.
House gives a sense of complete privacy along with access to whitewater ocean view. Very Nice!!
The house looked very much like the pictures. Great views of the ocean. Awesome waterfront deck. Clean and comfortable. Lots of easy walks to great beaches. House had many nice touches. Hot tub was very nice. View from master bedroom was especially great.
This is a place you will never forget and has the most beautiful view of the sea. The hot tub is excellent and you have a view of the sea on one side with a beautifully landscaped garden on the other side. The house is well equipped and although the couches are not the most comfortable the two chairs make up for it. We love this house and always feel rejuvenated when we leave!
We stayed at Whitewater Retreat in Sea Ranch for 10 days in July 2016 and had a wonderful time. We would definitely recommend it as a scenic, ocean view place to stay in Sea Ranch. While looking out the window as we were watching videos, the ocean was so close we could almost touch it.
Great house, very peaceful. Really great layout and view. Just bring your own sheets and towels!
We own a home at Sea Ranch but it is being rented out full time now so needed to get up and rent another home. As always, the weather was perfect. We arrived in the rain but by Saturday morning it was dry, clear and crisp. The home was perfect for our needs (four adults), and the amenities (other than wifi which had no signal on Sat and Sun) were just what we wanted. Beautiful view, home and accommodations. Would definitely recommend this home to anyone wanting a view from the bluff.
Beautiful white water views, comfortable furniture, on bluff trail near seal rookery! Front courtyard was charming!
Went to sea ranch with my immediate family for my 50th bday. Could not have been happier with our choice of house. Was perfect, the beds are very comfy.
