Spectacular views from this roomy oceanfront home w/ shared hot tub!
Watch the surf break rhythmically on the sand of nearby Agate Beach from the upper level of this luxurious Newport vacation rental, just five minutes from the heart of the colorful fishing town with a hot tub for soaking (please note: hot tub is shared with the lower level duplex as well). There's room for six of you here, a beautiful space filled with new furnishings, offering not only wonderful views from just about every spot in the home, but proximity to shopping, dining, and all the recreational options available in this popular area!
Please note that this Oregon Coast vacation rental is comprised of the upper level of the larger Agate Beach home, available to rent in its entirety for groups of up to ten guests. The lower level, available separately, is open to groups of four or less.
After a shopping foray in nearby Newport, examine your treasures in the comfort of this spacious and cheery living room. As the sun dips on the horizon, it can get chilly. Click on the gas fireplace and pass the time before dinner with a book, or, bring up the laptop (free WiFi) and find the perfect itinerary for the next day. And make sure you pack some DVDs to watch in case the occasional gray coastal day rolls in. On sunny afternoons, step through the gorgeous French doors out on the covered patio and relax on the comfortable furniture, your face warmed by sun through the skylights.
When you're hungry, you can head into Newport and sit down to a meal at one of dozens of eateries in town, serving (of course!) seafood, but lots of other fare as well. Then again, you don't have to go anywhere with this lovely modern kitchen, complete with all the appliances and assorted utensils, pots, and pans to create a great meal, no matter what time of day. The space is brightly lit with lots of overhead and sunlight through the big windows. There's lots of room to work, and clean up will be easy: just load up the dishwasher. Gather at the luxurious dining set with room for six, a respite in itself with a gorgeous, ocean view with your dessert!
Take a soak in the shared hot tub while the sound of waves and the rustle of branches lulls you into deep relaxation.
There are three bedrooms on the upper level. The first is just off the sunroom. In this cozy space you'll sleep on a big king bed and enjoy private access to the patio. In the morning, your toes will meet the warmth of the area rug covering the beautiful hardwood floor, and you can freshen up in the attached full bath.
The other two bedrooms are located off the living area. One has a queen bed on a handsome Mission-style frame and sits next to a big window with a panoramic view of nearby Agate Beach. Bed the kids down in the third bedroom where you'll find a twin bunk. There's a second full bathroom - accessible by everyone - in the hallway. Out in the garage is a washer and dryer, so there's no hassle with laundromats!
You could just hang out at this lovely home and still have a great time, barbecuing on the patio, gathering around the shared outdoor fire pit, or walking on the sand, collecting the colorful shells and watching the sea birds. But fun and scenic Newport - just five minutes away - is loaded with fun things to see and do. If you're a golfer, tee up at Agate Beach Golf Course, right across the road. Cross the Yaquina Bay Bridge and visit charming Newport, a working fishing community with plenty of places to shop and enjoy the crustacean that puts this town on the map as the "Dungeness Crab Capital of the World." You'll also close to popular attractions around Newport like two lighthouses, including Yaquina Head. See beautiful starfish and anemones up close in the area's many tidepools, or head out to open waters to fish or witness the big mammals - whales - breach the waves in their native element!
Whether you're in Newport with the family or on business, there's no better place to call home than this lovely Central Oregon Coast vacation rental, centrally located to all the sites and activities that make this charming little town a getaway favorite.
*Please note that the trail leading to the beach is a longer trail and the end of the trail leads out to a creek that can rise during the rainy stormy season. The guests should use caution in the fall and winter months. A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.

Loved this home!! It was welcoming and comfortable, in a perfect location. Will definitely stay here again.
Scott S.Mar 2020
We really loved this house, wish we could have stayed longer! The setup was great for us, our kids, and my parents who appreciated the slight separation of the third room so they could sleep in when our kids were up early. The hot tub and fire pit are both in great locations. The view is amazing and the older house is adorable, comfortable and well-maintained. The heaters kept it warm and cozy and the beds were comfortable. The beach access is about 1/4 mile walk, not straight outside as you might imagine from looking at the pictures, and you need to cross a little river in the sand to get out to the main beach. Since we came in winter, we brought rainboots for that part and it worked perfectly! Finally, there were a nice amount of dishes, cups, mugs, and even normal stemless wine glasses. All in, a really lovely place to stay!
Mike S.Oct 2019
The house was neat & clean, accommodated our life style ,very relaxing. Looking forward to the next opportunity to enjoy Agate Beach.
Bridget L.Oct 2019
The home was perfect! The views were amazing and we had everything that we needed. My only issue was lack of access to the beach....but overall it was an amazing weekend!
We are so happy that you found the home to be perfect for your girls' trip, Bridget! It is about a 5-minute walk to beach access where you will find a path to lead you to the beach. Thank you for your feedback, we hope to host you again soon!
Kathleen L.Jul 2019
We loved that there was enough space for grandma and the kids. The views are incredible and it made for a very relaxing and special few days. We used the hot tub each night after a long day. We would absolutely stay here again and again.
Deanna M.Jun 2019
It has a million dollar view. Oregon coast can be pretty chilly, so if your stuck inside, it is still gorgeous.
Dennis C.May 2019
The house was very clean and well maintained and we had a great stay at the home. Thanks
James M.May 2019
The home is beautiful and well furnished. As a senior I found the beach access to be somewhat challenging.
James H.Apr 2019
We loved the views and the overall layout of the home. It was private, clean and had enough amenities to make things work. The location and proximity to Newport was more than ideal. The hot tub was well used and loved by my kids.
We struggled a bit with the beach access and the strain it took to get to the beach from the house, but that is beyond the owner's control.
The house was a little short on blankets and spoons. That is about the extent of my complaints! Not much to complain about here. Wonderful place!
Chad S.Apr 2019
We loved this house. We visited during a partially rainy week and this was the perfect house to cozy up with some board games and watch the weather do it's thing over the ocean. Kids loved the bunk bed room. The master bedroom was nice and private. The sun porch is nice. Our only complaint was the access to the beach but as long as your willing to do a short drive to Agate Beach State Park, it's fine.
Jordan S.Dec 2018
My friends and I absolutely loved staying at this beautiful home with the MOST amazing view of the ocean. Despite the bunkbeds & the slightly noisy downstairs neighbors, every aspect of this home fitted our needs perfectly and we hardly left the whole weekend!
TERESA S.Oct 2018
The view from every room was spectacular! The home was clean and well supplied, very nice weekend
La vue est magnifique le logement est très agréable les chambres sont grandes. Un bel emplacement calme.
Vanessa M.Jun 2018
We had a great time at the agate beach house! Awesome views from every room snd very comfortable. We will defiantly be back!
rebecca h.May 2018
The house was very nice and clean. The kitchen had all the necessary cooking equipment we required. It's a wonderful house if you enjoy watching the ocean. Beach access is difficult, but it's a great house.
Sue H.May 2018
We loved the large windows overlooking the ocean. Being high on a cliff made it even more dramatic!
Kevin O.Mar 2018
You could not beat the view... You are on a cliff over looking the beach and ocean with great sun sets. The property needs a little update inside and out, the kitchen needs a good cleaning and the painting needs finished, the overall house inside needs a deep cleaning. The lights on the walkway to the hot tub needs repaired.
The owner is currently working on the updates mentioned in this review. The kitchen will be painted after spring break, a deep clean is scheduled for April, and the hot tub is going to be relocated to a spot with better lighting. Thank you!
LINNEA R.Nov 2017
Beautiful view. We enjoyed using the hot tub and the fire pit. Close by to town.
Paul P.Oct 2017
The view from the living room for sunrise or sunset is fantastic. The house has a old time feel, from when I use to go to the coast as a kid. The master bed was soft and comfy. Just really liked the place. Would definitely rent again. And if you had a large group, I would probably rent the lower suite as well.
Roma M.Sep 2017
This house is not beach front while the photos do make it seem like it would be... very family friendly.
Small bathrooms but clean and workable. Great location with a beautiful view!
Alyson M.Sep 2017
We had a lovely time at this rental. The walk to the beach is about 10 minutes but it is a fun and adventurous walk. We spent a lot of time playing at the beach...sliding down dunes, collecting rocks and shells, observing birds and crabs, and wading in the water. All appliances in the house were functional and the kitchen was well stocked with cookware and dishes. The only complaint is that the king mattress needs to be replaced. Otherwise, it is a lovely house to relax in and the view can't be beat...especially for sunset!
Taylor A.Jul 2017
I became overwhelmed trying to find the perfect rental. I went ahead and booked this agate beach property a little skeptical of it being a duplex having children. We had THE BEST time here. The pictures hardly do the view justice, the location is private but very close to town, Fred Meyer, Nye beach, Agate Beach, and Yaquina head lighthouse and tide pools. The team had our unit very clean and had just drained and refilled the hot tub so it would be fresh for us. The beach directions are clear but you have to follow them carefully, take a cell phone pic of the directions, there is an ankle deep creek you have to wade but a great place to leave the sandals. We loved this rental and will be back.
Ron G.Jul 2017
Not sure why guest can't use the ping pong table. Maybe due to the shared parts of this rental might make it awkward.
Dennis C.Jul 2017
The view was fantastic, I just wish that I would have brought my good pair of binoculars. It was very quiet and relaxing.
David D.May 2017
Magical Place people.....
Laura S.Mar 2017
The big picture window looking out on the ocean was my favorite part about this property.
Shane And Brenda S.Feb 2017
There's a very nice clean house nice view but make sure they have the hot tub working before you go could use some nice LED lights shining down onto the beach at night
Carla C.Jan 2017
We enjoyed the beautiful view of Agate Beach and the ocean. There is nothing like waking up to an ocean view framed by lovely pine trees! The house was warm and spacious. We cooked all of our meals and found the kitchen to be adequately stocked. The view from the hot tub is lovely, and we spent lots of time there. The house is surrounded by trees and feels secluded even though there are houses on either side. Be aware that there is not beach access from the house. For us, driving 5 minutes to the nearest beach access was not a big problem. We would definitely choose this property again.
Haley B.Oct 2016
We really enjoyed our stay here in Newport. The home was cozy, had a beautiful view, and clean. On our last day we sat in the hot tub and watched whales playing in the ocean from the back yard. We hope to stay here for our next trip to Newport.
JP G.Sep 2016
Beautiful place really. But...unbelievably cheap and poor bed linens and towels. Only a couple of face cloths provided and those had stains on them - they looked more like rags. Main master bed wasn't made up and we were challenged to find sheets that even fit the bed. It didn't appear that any cleaning had been done aside from kitchen. Dirty floors, etc. Dishwasher had 2 wheels missing on the lower pull out, making it hard to load. Clothes washing machine was broken. Considering what we paid per night plus cleaning fee, while a beautiful property, we wouldn't advise staying there again unless these issues were fixed.
We apologize that this stay was not more enjoyable. The home's linens and towels will be replaced in the near future once our new linen program begins in this area for all of our Vacasa homes. The Property Manager has addressed this review with housekeeping so they can be more thorough in their jobs. The Property Manager has also been actively searching for replacement wheels for the dishwasher rack, but he has not had any luck yet. As it stands, while inconvenient, the dishwasher is still functional.
Joanne H.Sep 2016
We loved the view from the dining and living areas through the large windows, but not being close enough to hear the surf was a disappointment. The hot tub was a nice spot to relax and watch the waves (through the trees). Beach access is ridiculous... we were fortunate to run into a kind neighbor who directed us to the "path", but also gently ranted about how vacation renters are ruining life for the locals (I think we won him over). Just to smell the sea air, and hear the crashing surf, next time we will opt for a place closer to beach level.
Emily S.Aug 2016
Nice place to stay. Beautiful views of ocean and plenty of room for everyone.
Ryan M.Aug 2016
So, first off, we'd just like to say that we are not strangers to the VRBO concept. Our family has one also. We maintain the crap out of it, and still think of it as "ours" but that it just gets borrowed occasionally. This property, was in a great location and had an awesome view. Beach access was not as easy as walking out the door (it's on a 90 foot cliff), but you could get there with maybe 5 minutes of walking down the street and a narrow path. The potential was spectacular. But it really didn't feel like somebody's home. My wife mentioned that it felt like a hedge fund investment; do the basic maintenance and provide bare bones necessities, and pocket the money you make out of it as an investment return. Simple things were broken (sliding door), dining chairs and lawn chairs were clearly the absolute minimum quality possible, bed comfort was average at best. For what we paid, we had just expected a little more attention to detail, and if this really was somebody's home for some/most of the year, I expect these simple things would have just been dealt with.
That being said, real estate is location/location/location....and this place nailed that part of it. Easy 3-5 minute drive into Newport, felt remote enough that we had privacy, had a tremendous beach view, and an outdoor hot tub/yard/grill. There was a downstairs 1 BR (separate) unit that our in-laws took, and overall we had a great family vacation.
So I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but between my issues with value (do you really get what you pay for?) and the little things just not quite being right, I just couldn't. It has great potential and with a little re-investment, this property could be awesome. I can recommend this VRBO to friends and family, but with the above caveats so they walk into this "eyes wide open".
Cory J.Jul 2016
The view is fantastic, and the beach is accessible via a short walk. The beach itself is gorgeous.
Brent F.May 2016
Amazing views and large spacious property. Felt "at home" the entire stay and watched some pretty amazing sunsets. Would come back in a heartbeat.
Alison O.May 2016
We had a great stay in this vacation home. Incredible ocean views, pleasant decor, comfortable beds. The kids enjoyed roasting marshmallows around the fire. We had the feeling of being remote while the location was so convenient to Newport.
Harold A.May 2016
Would definitely stay again.
David D.May 2016
Great place. Hope you'll let us stay again next year. Loved the new hot tub
Dena R.May 2016
This place has plenty of room for my family. We loved it . The only problem is there really isn't beach access with in walking distance. If it is 2 adults who feel like roughing it and walking through some water it's doable.
Aja R.Feb 2016
Beautiful house with a beautiful view!
Hollie B.Feb 2016
The house is very charming, and stylish. The view is perfect, with plenty of big windows to admire it from. We had one big problem that spoiled the trip which was the hot tub water was changed during our stay. leaving us with a cold tub for half of our stay.
Elise W.Jan 2016
We really like this quaint home and the view is just wonderful. We loved the convenience to Yaquina Head and its wildlife. The hot tub was nice and felt great after a rainy day. Its a very pretty home, very homey with the comfortable furniture and beds. Loved that there were tubs not just showers. The directions on how to use the fireplace should be included...took us an hour to figure it out, likely because we do not have such an item in our home. Would love a recycling bin...we just took ours with us. Make sure people know that if it is raining, there is no getting across the "creek" without hip-boots. But the State Park is literally 2 minutes away and you can park right at the beach, so we did not mind this at all. Newport has two quaint areas for eating...the Nye Beach and the Old Town...both offer great food and neat things to see. Newport is a great little coastal town.
Chris C.Jan 2016
This house will pleasantly surprise you. My family didn't want to leave.
Darla L.Jan 2016
This is our second experience with Vacasa. We would highly recommend Vacasa. The experience both times has been great! The rental properties were clean and the locations were exactly what was advertised.
James M.Jan 2016
We have only rented a beach house once through another company so we weren't sure what to expect. When we got to our place, we didn't realize that we were the top floor to another rental down below. We had a wonderful view from our home, where a telescope was provided to see ships out in the ocean and a bald eagle landing in the sand. Overall, it was amazing.
Things you should expect, there are dishes and dish washing soap already provided, along with several basic things, like coffee filters and coffee in the kitchen area. Also, there is a washer and dryer with detergent already present. In the bathrooms, there are larger hotel style soaps and shampoo and conditioners. Beyond the basic linens, there were additional blankets, pillows, and even a Pack and Play for a baby. The fire pit and hot tub are shared, so be prepared to possibly get to know your neighbors. It also comes with a BBQer for the upstairs, which we used! We had all essentials we needed for a fun and relaxing weekend with family.
From the other reviews, yes, it is difficult/impossible to get down to the beach from the trail provided, as when we went in December, a small creek divided the beach entrance from the beach. It was super deep, but you would need at least rubber boots to cross it and stay dry. The good news is that Agate Beach entrance is literally 3 minutes away and has super close parking right next to the beach. We tried both methods, and parking at the beach entrance was by far easier.
Nancy B.Sep 2015
We enjoyed our vacation very much! The view was great and we could sit in the living room and enjoy the view for hours! It's very private, even with people staying below us. We did manage to find the beach access but we weren't willing to wade across the small stream to get to the beach. We drove south to Nye Beach when we wanted to enjoy the beach. The house was very clean with extra blankets, sheets and towels if you need them.
Tom H.Jul 2015
Beach access issues notwithstanding, we had a great time. Windy but it made kite flying fun and the weather was very nice.
I left a jacket in the closet and the mgmt team mailed it promptly, thank you.
Cedar W.Jun 2015
There should be stairs built down to the beach like that house next door has built. The map for beach access is extremely confusing and we could not find our way down walking. The map took us to a large construction site. A better picture or an easy access stairway would be perfect. Also, we had no idea that there was another rental below us and people staying there. But this house was incredible and has a amazing view and was perfect for our girls trip. Thank you!
We are sorry that beach access is not currently easy due to construction. We will work on providing information for the next best thing. We are glad you enjoyed this home as it really is a great choice if you want a view to relax to. Thank you!
Nicole T.May 2015
Incredible views in the living room! Pictures are very deceiving, the beach access is not a 5 minute walk away its under major construction and you would be better off driving, so if you have small children it's really inconvenient. Overall we enjoyed our stay but given the chance to choose a different beach house, we would have.
We are sorry to see that you were disappointed in your choice of beach house. This is an oceanfront home with an amazing view, but there is not direct beach access from the house. The closest access point is under construction, but will be available soon for public use again. We hope you made wonderful memories here. Thank you!
Ryan K.May 2015
I would stay here again. The view was even better than expected, it was clean, comfortable and the sun room was great. As many other reviewers have noted, beach access is not ideal but it's not terrible either. A five minute walk and a short wade through two feet of cold water. the map was unclear to us but we found the way - follow the trail that parallels 101 to the south, turn right at Wade St, where it ends keep going west into a yard and follow the fence to the trailhead.
Suzanne M.Apr 2015
The home is lovely with sparkling bathrooms and a well stocked kitchen. Knockout views of ocean and a fireplace for when the weather isn't perfect. No beach access from house due to a high bluff and a stream, but we were ok with that and you will be too, once you see the house. The wind blows almost constantly, so if you're a beach walker, plan on visiting it in the morning, and take a hat or hood. We also loved the indoor porch.
Travis P.Mar 2015
The location and views were wonderful! Just a short drive into town with many local conveniences nearby. The house is very open and comfortable. The only downfall is there is no direct beach access. Luckily it's not too far a drive to get there!
Thanks for the fantastic review. We are really happy and excited that you had such a wonderful trip. Please do come visit us again soon!
Phyliss N.Jan 2015
The pictures are a bit deceiving. It looks like your right on the beach. You're not and it is a fair walk to have beach access. If you're a viewer a great place to stay. if your a walker great place to stay. If not a walker or a viewer someplace else might be better. Loved the property, especially the lay out. Very comfortable. The heat is overpowering if you set it on 70. 60 will do it.
Thank you for your review. This home is an oceanfront property, but the closest beach access is approximately a 5 minute walk away. We are glad that you enjoyed this comfortable home. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
Sharyn S.Jan 2015
This was a perfect place for our annual plan and review. My husband and I spent lots of time inside, and the ocean views were gorgeous! Beach access is really only feasible by driving to Agate Beach - there's a very cold mid-calf high brook to wade through if you walk to the beach access from the home.
Janet F.Dec 2014
Very hard to find and when we finally did, there was an uncross able river between us and the beach. 😵
We are sorry to hear about your difficulty in finding and accessing the beach. From this home it is about 5 minutes to the nearest beach access - there is a gravel path to follow that takes you over the stream and down to the ocean. We hope that this did not affect your enjoyment of this home and its beautiful ocean views. Thank you for choosing Vacasa!
Michael W.Sep 2014
Loved the house!! Nice when splitting with another couple as the 2 main rooms are fairly even - one has a queen bed and smaller bathroom but has an amazing view. The second room has a king and a larger bathroom but not much view. Incredible views from the main living rooms and dining room. An easy 5 minute walk to the beach. Would recommend to anyone going to Newport!
Lisa M.Sep 2014
The view of the coastline from this house is amazing! It is he first thing you see as you walk into the house.
The walk to the beach is on a dirt pathway which is not flat and may be hard for some to navigate. It is about a 5-8 min to walk to get to the beach. The beach is not flat and has small dunes you have to cross before reaching the water.
The house itself is clean and comfortable and the Master Suite is exceptionally nice. There is also another bedroom that has a beautiful view of the coastline.
The location is good for short drives to restaurants in Newport and Nye Beach.
We would chose to stay here again (and again, and again...)!
Thank you for the nice review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. Please come back again soon.
Steven B.Sep 2014
Suggestions for the owners. Th broiler did not work. The knives and the vegetable peeler were very troublesome to use. When we go there the homes smelled musty..just needed to. Be aired out. The. views were awesome and we were. Very comfortable.
Judy Y.Sep 2014
The house did not have its own beach access. The pictures were deceptive and notes said there was access. Plus I did call and was told the house had access. I suppose they were referring to the access south of the property- across the lots, down the street, and down the long hill across the stream to the dunes.
Kristina G.Jul 2014
Everything about our experience was simply wonderful. We can not wait to come back!
Beth R.Apr 2014
Loved it! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Cant wait for next time :)
Thanks for your review. Please come visit again!
Bethany S.Apr 2014
The instant we walked in we were welcomed with lots of comfortable seating and a beautiful view of the ocean. Every room was inviting and comfortable. We had our 5 and 6 year old girls with us and they enjoyed playing games, coloring and making smores in the fire pit. The 4 adults were all happy with the spacious living room and sun room which provided a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy each others company. The dining room also overlooked the ocean and we were able to eat our meals while enjoying the serenity of the view. The kitchen had plenty of storage for our groceries. It was so easy to relax in this home that I can't wait for our next visit!
We're glad that you enjoyed the beautiful ocean views from the home. It sounds like this was a great match for your family. You can't beat making smores in the fire pit! Please come visit us again.
Chris S.Apr 2014
View of the beach was breathtaking! Loved the cozy fireplace for the cooler evenings and the sun porch was great! We would highly recommend it!
Laurie I.Mar 2014
Excellently appointed home. Inspired me to clean house when I got back to Corvallis. Didn't care for the little Creek separating us from the house and easy access to the beach in front of the house, but everything else was great.
Barbara J.Jul 2013
We very much enjoyed our stay at this house on a rise above the beach. The huge windows look out on a large expanse of beach and ocean, framed by big trees. The kitchen is well furnished, the beds are comfortable, the TV is excellent, the wi-fi works well. Plenty of common areas, well-set up for group activities or nesting in. The house seems to be an updated and expanded older cottage, with many nice touches, and a few funky or awkward things. Nothing that will get in your way of a good time. The only downside is that the beach access is not straightforward. You have to follow the directions exactly to avoid some very sensitive neighbors.
So happy to hear you enjoyed your visit! Thanks for your suggestions. We look forward to your return.
