Architectural gem w/ private hot tub, redwood views & shared pools - 1 dog OK!

Discover peace and privacy in your very own redwood grove at this two-bedroom Sea Ranch home, an architectural wonder with a wealth of innovative design, a private hot tub and patio, and a stunning location within earshot of the ocean.

Designed by the famed architect Joseph Esherick and recently featured in Monocle Magazine and Curbed, it was built as a demonstration house in 1968. This cozy three-level home sits on the eastern edge of Sea Ranch with no adjacent neighbors in sight. Here among the protected woodlands and the Timber Ridge Trail, you'll be one mile (across California Highway 1) from Black Point Beach; one mile from the heated pool, saunas, and tennis/pickleball court at the Moonraker Recreation Center; and nine miles south of downtown Gualala.

Step inside to find 684 square feet of living space designed in the classic Sea Ranch style, where works of art by Anthony Burrill, Robert Indiana, and Barbara Stauffacher Solomon compliment the woodland views, mid-century furnishings, and original architectural details.

Lose yourself in a novel on the built-in wool sectional or sit down to write at the small desk that overlooks the woods.

Move into the small galley kitchen to prepare breakfast as a soothing soundtrack streams on the Sonos Soundbar. This snug space makes innovative use of its square footage, offering black matte cabinets for your favorite Surf Market ingredients, a Nespresso machine for your morning espresso, and a selection of mid-century studio pottery to set out on the four-person dining table.

Leave the plates in the care of the dishwasher and head outside to the patio made from local redwood rounds. Curl up beneath the tree canopy with a fascinating book or monograph from the architecture-focused home library, take your dog for a walk on a local trail, and return home to light the gas grill for a lunchtime barbecue (please note that a dog bed and bowls are provided, but that a one-dog limit and a small nightly pet fee apply).

Spend your days taking in the view on Black Point Beach, and enjoy soothing soaks in the private hot tub. Back inside, you can throw your bathing suits in the washer/dryer, set out a board game or browse the WiFi on the cowhide rug, and settle in for a night of Netflix, Hulu, Blu-ray, and Xbox favorites on the 43-inch Smart LED TV (please note that a Hulu account with live TV is provided, but that guests must have their own Netflix account).

With two bedrooms and one full bathroom, this Sea Ranch escape will accommodate four guests. Head upstairs to find an open master bedroom with a queen-size bed and a bold vintage tapestry. On the other side of the hidden door is a bunk room complete with a concealed supergraphic and extra long twin bunks, each with its own window that opens to let in the sounds of the ocean.

Inside the full bathroom, you'll find a shower/tub, a heated towel bar, and a selection of peppermint shampoo, cilantro conditioner, and eucalyptus body wash by Malin+Goetz.

Whether you're an enthusiast of art and architecture or simply in search of a tranquil retreat, you'll be mesmerized by the beauty of Sea Ranch on the Northern California Coast. Take long strolls amid homes designed by Joseph Esherick, William Turnbull, and Charles Moore; check out the work of local artists at the Gualala Arts Center; or spend hours perusing the shelves at Four-Eyed Frog Books in town.

Pick up fresh bread each morning at Twofish Baking at Stewart's Point, and walk along the Bluff Trail to observe playful harbor seals and the occasional whale spout. Tee off at the cypress-lined Sea Ranch Golf Links seven miles north, take a drive to watch the sunset at the Point Arena Lighthouse 28 miles north, or sit down for dinner with a view at Coast Kitchen 16 miles south down Highway 1.

Come and enjoy a house with a style all its own - book your unforgettable trip to Sea Ranch today!

Truly in love with the property. Sea Ranch is totally gorgeous. What a wonderful way to start our love journey. The city is clean. The residents are very friendly. Love that the property is private and very safe. Just what we wanted, beachy forestry. Just a perfect place for us. Congrats to the property owners J. C. B. For such a beautiful place. Will be back.

My husband and I had a great time at Sea Ranch thanks to the comfort this cabin offered and also because of the thoughtful touches from the hosts. We really appreciated the information guide the hosts provided with recommendations for what to do and where to eat. The provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soaps were really nice, and I really liked having the towel warmer. The kitchen was well appointed, the general decor of the cabin was tasteful and fun. The hot tub was situated under tall trees and was clean and well maintained. You get a lot of privacy at this cabin, which we liked since many cabins at Sea Ranch are near hiking paths. There's good internet connection at the cabin, which is helpful for even if you're trying to unplug (to look up directions to places etc).

Lovely home, architecturally interesting, and beautifully appointed. By far my favorite was sitting at the desk, the trees keeping me company literally inches outside the window. Magical!

Location, location, location. If you love the California coast and The Redwoods, this spot is perfect. The property is accurately represented in the photos. The tank for the butane grill was filled and a spare was provided. The hot tub just the right temperature. Kitchen stocked with clean, well appointed equipment, plus many unexpected extras. Better than home! An issue singular to our stay was resolved with one phone call. Reassuring to know that courtesy and civility is still alive somewhere. Highly recommend!

Just returned from a beautiful weekend at the MiniMod, which truly is a gem. Location, beauty, weather, attention to every detail and deep peace and relaxation. The owners must be very dear people. They've thought of everything in this tiny jewel. We will return for certain.

This clean, quiet, and contemporary dwelling is the ultimate in relaxation. The ability to be surrounded by nature, a hot tub, and the accessibility to technology is truly something magical. My family had such a great time at the MiniMod, that it made returning to work more difficult. ;)

My husband and I and our pup were looking for a quiet getaway for a couple days and couldn't have been more happy to have found this cabin. Serene, surrounded by trees and wildlife - we saw wild turkeys, rabbits, deer, a fox and woodpeckers all from the cabin! Bed was comfy and kitchen was well stocked, appreciated the Nespresso and nice bath amenities. Wonderful attention to detail!

Absolutely wonderful. Our family of 4 (2adults, 2kids) and one tiny dog fit just right. The dishes were of high quality, the water was hot, the thermostat worked great, and the fireplace was a nice touch at night. There are w/d to keep your beach towels fresh and the community was fun to explore. The beds and pillows were comfy and the hot tub was so relaxing in the evening! We only wished we could of stayed 2 more nights.

The accommodations lent to optimal relaxation, enjoyment, and ease. The MiniMod is packed full of charm and amenities. We were pleasantly surprised and impressed with the attention to detail. We loved staying up in the trees and driving down to the beach, and are already looking forward to our next stay!

Our stay at the Esherick house was a perfect first stay at Sea Ranch. We picked this one because it was obvious that the owners have a real appreciation for the architecture and the era in which the house was built---we loved the artwork and the architecture history books and the general '60s feel of the place. But we also loved the modern touches, and being able to stay in a cabin in the redwoods without ever feeling like we were roughing it.

We're also big fans of this house because it introduced us to Sea Ranch. We fell in love with the landscape and the architecture, and all of the hiking trails, beaches, and recreation centers made us quickly realize that we need to stay longer than two days next time.

I really enjoyed my stay!

It's mini and it's mod. That, plus the opportunity to stay in an Esherick designed home and a personal experiment in staying in the forest, as opposed to the meadow as we usually do, is what attracted us. Furnishings are minimal and efficient, which suits the house. The kitchen was well outfitted and the sharp knives and quality pots pans were appreciated (we usually bring our own knives, but decided to trust the property description and were disappointed). The hot tub was clean, hot and privately situated.

If you're considering this home, realize that it is up on the ridge and in a completely forested location; there is no view of the ocean. The redwoods are beautiful, however, and we enjoyed this location at the south end of Sea Ranch, just a short drive from the beach and town. Mornings and evenings in the hot tub were particularly delightful and our dog loved hanging on the nearby deck.

Very cool cabin in the upper woodlands of Sea Ranch -- nicely renovated small cabin with great modern design touches. We really enjoyed our stay!
