Custom, dog-friendly home w/ a private hot tub, woodsy location, shared pools

Sleek design meets top-notch community amenities for an unforgettable stay at this dog-friendly home in Sea Ranch. Enjoy shared tennis courts, recreation centers with saunas and swimming pools, a private hot tub, and plenty of space for up to four guests and one dog.

Welcome to Sea Ranch, a luxury home community tucked into the Redwood forest 100 miles northwest of San Francisco. Stengel Beach, a popular surfing spot, lies two miles west, while other oceanfront communities, like Gualala and Anchor Bay, are a short drive up Highway 101.

Designed by Sea Ranch founder Donlyn Lyndon, this home features a modern aesthetic, brought beautifully into the great outdoors. From its carefully chosen decor, including handwoven tapestries and weavings, to its inspired furnishings, wood interior, and updated technology, no expense has been spared, ensuring a truly memorable stay for your group.

Pick out a book from the library to enjoy a quiet afternoon indoors, with wall-to-wall seating provided in the living area. Throw a few logs in the wood stove whenever there's a chill in the air, or head outside for a soothing dip in the private hot tub.

Back inside, you'll can enjoy more peace and quiet in the study, where you can journal about your day or get some work done at its desk, or simply admire the room's classic charm with modern and vintage furniture and even a historic dictionary and magnifying glass. Though this home is perfect for unplugging, there are two small televisions (connected via a Roku box) if you want to set the kids up with a little entertainment.

When hunger strikes, strike back with a home-cooked meal in the chef's kitchen. The exquisitely laid out galley-style kitchen features stainless steel appliances, wide countertops, and all the cooking accessories you'll need to make delicious dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And cleanup is a cinch afterward thanks to the dishwasher.

If the weather calls for it, enjoy the company of your group for al fresco dining on the outdoor deck, where you'll even find a gas grill that's perfect for summer cookouts. With a small nightly fee, this home also invites your dog along to join in your adventures.

After a hearty meal, why not explore the community amenities? Work on your groundstrokes at tennis courts at the Del Mar, Moonraker, or Ohlson Recreation Centers, or swim laps at the Olympic-size pool at the Del Mar Recreation Center. The centers also have children's swim areas (Moonraker does not), plus family and men's and women's saunas.

Head home when you're worn and tired to retire for restful slumber. Up to four guests are welcome here, with queen beds in both bedrooms - one of which is its own separate space that's connected by a walkway from the main house.

Wake to sunlight streaming in through picture windows and skylights, pull out a fresh pair of clothes from the washer/dryer, and connect to the WiFi to plan your day's adventures. Ready for some road trips? Head just west to the highway to explore the scenic California coastline, with stops at Stengel Beach, Shell Beach, and Walk On Beach. Then, travel 57 miles north to Mendocino for wine-tasting and scenic hiking along the majestic cliffsides of Mendocino Headlands State Park. Go 10 more miles north to find Fort Bragg, where you can stroll through the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, or sample a wide variety of local microbrews at North Coast Brewing Company.

We loved the unique layout of this home, the views from the deck, and the secluded feel.

Three nights in this wonderfully designed and very nicely outfitted home were just not enough. Windows everywhere made its forest setting bright inside and on view from every angle. The architect was a genius. I can't wait to stay there again.

This house was wonderful and quiet, and for us, the two distinct sections (separated by a a small outdoor walkway) were perfect. Husband could take his keyboard to the other section to play, while it was nice and quiet in the main house. All the windows looking out into the woods were so nice.

The kitchen was equipped with good basics, but if you want to do any special cooking or baking you should bring pots/pans/gadgets from home.

There is a trail that goes to the beach, but it can be tricky to find. You need to walk back up Westerly Close to Schooner, and then the trailhead (marker #249) is just off Seabird Road. It weaves through the forest and comes out by the stables, and you can cross Hwy 1 from there for easy access to Stengel and Ohlson Beaches. It's an easy trail, but if it's muddy you might want to find a walking stick.

Speaking of trails, the Sag Pond Trail (marker #109) is just up at the end of Schooner Dr, and from there you can get on the Ridge Trail and a few others. If you can get a copy of the TSRA Trail Guide, it'll be super helpful during your stay on the forest side!

Lastly, all of the local staff at Sea Ranch were very nice to deal with! Great stay at Hidden Treasure!

We booked this last minute and it was perfect for 2 couples. Beautiful views of the forest and a short walk from the beach. Great trails nearby.

We have been going to Sea Ranch for years. This place is amazing! A quintessential Sea Ranch home — great design, wonderful location, comfortable furnishings! Thank you for a lovely vacation getaway!

You can’t ask for a better getaway. It’s truly a hidden treasure such peaceful surroundings and the so many beaches so close.
We just wish we could have stayed longer. Next time we will stay here again for a week at least.
Great Home ... Thanks for allowing us to share it.

This place was an absolute “hidden treasure” and gave us such a memorable experience. To cooking up great meals in the nicely equipped kitchen for cooks, to relaxing in the hot tub out in nature and reading in the office nook...this place was amazing and inspiring. What a wonderful and well built home for comfort and function.

Great house and location. We loved the bedroom in the second attached building, kept the heat low with lots of covers on the bed to make it super cozy. Clean but the trash from the prior guests was under the kitchen sink, and the outdoor trash can was full to overflowing. The kitchen is generally well stocked. However, the silverware is in bad shape, very few forks. Somebody needs to spend about $40 on a good set of everyday forks, knives and spoons. Also a few essentials such as a mesh strainer are missing, but nothing that couldn't be worked around.

This is a pleasant house, but so deep in the woods that it was a bit dark, at least in the winter. Too many dog-related artworks.

Beautiful forest setting. Quiet and peaceful surrounded by tall trees. Detached library and second bedroom/bath a plus. WiFi works! Small TV in kitchen and another small TV in one bedroom.

My husband, dog and I LOVE Sea Ranch. We make the drive from Las Vegas NV. every year to enjoy the lay back lifestyle, magnificent surroundings and endless walking and hiking trails. We tend to stay on the coast but when we saw the images of Hidden Treasure it spoke to our souls. We arrived just before dark and the house greeted us like an old friend. From the moment we walked in we felt like we were home. Our dog instantly made the big deck off the living room his favorite space to watch the wild life in the woods. The tall pines surround the entire house making it a magical setting. We loved having the second bedroom/office separate from the main house allowing my husband his own space to write and work in. We are in the entertainment business and appreciated the creative "vibe" Hidden Treasure" provided. Our week went by way too quickly. We will definitely return to Hidden Treasure!

There are so many intimate vistas in and around the compound that are spectacular. The trees are so Tall with this custom-designed, European-influenced contemporary home. Go...

PS. A trail head is at the top of the block to take you and yours down to the horse stables, rec center, and pool. 15 minute hike. Lush.

PSS. The natives are exquisite in intellect, humor, and goodness.

Hidden Treasure was the perfect place for our family to visit. We have stayed in different houses before at Sea Ranch and this place was perfect for 2 couples because of the unique floor plan. It was modern, spacious, and had incredible views!!! We enjoyed our morning coffee sitting in the wooden chairs off the back deck wrapped in nature. Our evenings were spent spending time together laughing "unplugged" from our work world. Thank you for sharing your home with our family.

We were lucky enough to stay at this home for a week. We loved everything about it. Every window has a beautiful view of the surrounding grove of towering redwoods. We could work online in the studio's office, hike on the trails nearby, cook in the generous kitchen and the relax in the powerful hot tub. It was so
peaceful, it was hard to leave!

We loved our stay at Hidden Treasure. The home itself is gorgeous and comfortable. The countless windows including skylights give the feeling of living in a tree house. We made a cozy fire, soaked in the hot tub under the stars, and cooked our dinner on the gas grill. Our kids stayed in the second bedroom that's separated from the main house. A note to parents: the house is not entirely kid friendly. Lots of stairs and fragile furnishings kept me on my toes around two young children. Also, the second bedroom's location meant kids were sleeping in essentially a separate house instead of down the hall. I'd recommend more for a pair of couples on holiday together.
