We had family meet there for an early Thanksgiving coming from all over the east coast. We were minutes away from restuarants, Chimney Rock, and small "general store" type shops. My entire family would like to return next year. The boat house, kayaks, and deck on top were an added bonus for things to do. I saw a previous review about wood rot on the steps/decks, this was all updated and not an issue. The view is amazing, you can see Chimney Rock from the back porch! If you're looking for a home with extra space on Lake Lure then this is it. We never felt overcrowded or on top of each other with the amount of rooms and space. Only issues worth mentioning is parking (only 3 spots), the top room is a loft which was above the living room, and the wifi was in and out at times but we did have several adults using it at the same time. Looking forward to a return trip!

Keepers cabin is it a beautiful relatively new home with tons of space, a great layout and beautiful views. The boathouse living area is especially amazing. It’s right on the water, air-conditioned, beautiful kitchen with a subzero refrigerator and bathroom. Couldn’t be a nicer setting to be by the water. This is a great home and setup for large families or groups.

This is one of the better homes on Lake Lure, and offers an incredible view of the lake & mountains. The décor is great & the house is very well stocked & supplied. It fit our extended family group of eight quite well, & we loved that it was pet friendly. If you truly want to catch a fish or two, just drop your line inside the boat house – you’ll have a bite within five minutes!
We were “caught up” in the house listing transitioning between VRBO & Vacasa (meaning, we originally booked it through VRBO, & were then notified it had switched to Vacasa) & experienced some frustrations (being charged fees by both), but were able to resolve things after many phone calls, etc. This confusion included neither company charging us a pet fee (though we had told both companies about bringing a dog, & asked about paying the fee), which led to a call from Vacasa during our stay, asking us to pay the $200 pet fee, which we were glad to finally do.
We were there during a serious heat wave & the AC compressor froze up twice with the thermostats set to 74, but Vacasa was quite responsive in getting a local HVAC contractor out to service the system.
The road to the neighborhood was paved one day while we were there, & thankfully the paving company told us the day prior, since we were not able to come & go for around 5 hours, but thankfully, it worked fine with our schedules.
The house has management company contact info posted, including in a binder about the house, but be advised that that company no longer manages the property.
A previous reviewer noted that there is little space in which to walk a pet around the house, and I would echo that information – it’s not necessarily a critique, but just something of which to be aware.
Also, be advised that the owner has a Blink camera focused on the driveway – that’s what apparently led to Vacasa calling us about the pet fee. Again, it's simply something for guests to know.
All in all, it’s a really great house – we would there stay again, and the minor inconveniences we faced (Vacasa switch, extreme heat, & paving) were “one time” occurrences which shouldn’t be issues for others. The house provides an incredible location and venue in which to experience the beauty of Lake Lure, NC!

The view was beautiful. Peaceful, quiet relaxing vacation.

This was a beautiful property to celebrate a family Easter. The lake views were a delight. The home was clean but, for a 6 day stay, the home was stocked as a 2 day stay. We had to go purchase a lot more toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, bath soap, Kleenex, and dishwasher detergent. The tiny bars of soap for bathing felt like cardboard and did not lather up at all. Kitchen supplies were very scattered and disorganized. The facility was clean otherwise. This is too gorgeous of a property to go cheap on the quantity
And quality of toiletries, kitchen needs and paper goods made available to us.
The property should not be listed as pet friendly!! There is not one blade of grass for any pet to eliminate! This made for a stressful week with my dog! There needs to be some access from the staircase to the semi yard below.
Overall, the family did enjoy their stay on Lake Lure.
Manager response:
Lynn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We provide our guests with a starter kit of supplies to ensure the first night of your stay starts well. This includes cleaning supplies, toiletries, and paper products. Once these supplies run out it is the responsibility of our guests to provide any additional supplies throughout the remainder of their stay. Supplies are restocked before each guest. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your time with us. We make every effort to present clear, accurate descriptions of our homes in order for guests to make informed decisions on their rental choices. We encourage guests to reach out with any questions or concerns, as we are happy to help. Thank you for staying with us and we look forward to hosting you again.

Excellent site for a girls` birthday weekend trip OR any large gathering. Plenty of space for 10-12 people and a spectacular view! We enjoyed the large living room with big picture windows, the large decks and the boat house balcony for sunset wine. The rustic decor was perfect. A few even went kayaking! There were a few minor house issues outlined below, but it did not detract from our wonderful weekend. The management team was very attentive and took care of things quickly, but do recommend that housekeeping be responsible for checking that all bulbs in light fixtures work:
1) trash instructions unclear
2) sheets are too small for many beds
3) hole in walkway to guesthouse
4) loft bed sinks in/need to turn or replace
5) lower level fan/light fixture missing bulbs
6) Main level bunk bedroom light fixture doesn’t work

Our family had a great week at this cabin. The place was neat, clean, and well equipped. The guest house was also neat and well taken care of.

Problems:

The bedroom on the second floor needed some kind of door. The open layout reduced privacy and allowed light and noise from the first floor to interrupt sleeping.

The boat dock needed some work. It had a good number of rotten boards, especially on the perimeter. The stairs nearest to the beach lacked a railing and were loose from the dock, exposing nails.

Also, there was a hole due to rotten boards on the upper level over the boathouse.

The stairway down to the boathouse needs some kind of lighting. The photocell post cap lights were inoperative and some were missing

WiFi reception was poor. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

We had a great week with our kids and grandkids! The location was perfect. Not too far from town and things to do. The kids had fun playing in the beach area at the house and the adults enjoyed floating in the water by the dock. Some also liked jumping off the boathouse. The kayaks were great. You do need your own life jackets and float tubes as we didn’t find any with the house. The A/C went out one day but the management company was very responsive and it was fixed by the evening. My only complaint about this rental was the weak internet and cell service. Fortunately none of us had to do any work while we were there. Even basic internet use was very slow. Exceeded Expectations. The home is in a perfect location with very good lake access. Our family had a great time! This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

The AC didn’t work on the main floor, the beds in the left and the main floor bunk room were very uncomfortable, the tv cable also didn’t work. While we ended up having a great time because of the group we were with we were very disappointed in the overall accommodations! We had stayed at this rental several years ago and had a wonderful experience but this year was not the same. The biggest disappointment was the house was not clean. That is bad any year but especially now with COVID. There are also rotten boards on the deck that one of my daughters stepped through. Fortunately no serious injury. While there we contacted Turn Key and received no response. Only until I contacted the owners, who knew nothing of the situation, did we get a response. They had Turn Key refund to us the cleaning fee. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

The cabin is spacious and accommodating; the setting is beautiful. The comments below notwithstanding, we had a great time at this property! We had more comments, but they would not fit in the space allowed.
TurnKey’s preparation and responses left a lot to be desired:
•The outside decks were littered with leaves, sawdust, small branches and cobwebs when we arrived.
•The light over the dining room table would not work. When TurnKey tried to fix it, they moved some light bulbs around to test them, and the light in the master bedroom went out. Neither worked during our stay.
•We used the BBQ grill for two meals. Next time we tried, on Saturday, it ran out of propane before even heating up. The “spare” tank was also empty. TurnKey came out on Monday.
•My daughter and her husband own a small business. My two grandsons are currently “attending” school remotely. ALL of them needed reliable high speed Internet access. The DSL WiFi was barely adequate for casual usage. They had to use a combination of our own phone HotSpots and a JetPack.

We recommend this property, but not TurnKey.

Clean and well kept cabin located on the best lot in Lake Lure. We rented a pontoon boat for the week which made our stay even more fun. All small issues were handled promptly by the property management. Local attractions were close with a grocery about 15 minutes drive. We would definitely return to Keepers Cabin another year for summer fun. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.
