We found Caspar Daydream to have many features we appreciate in a rental. It was spacious, clean and well-equipped, as well as quiet and fairly private. The distant ocean view was lovely and the open space attracted deer and squirrels. The nearby houses and odd placement of the cottage by the storage barn did not detract from its charm.
The wifi was strong and although we did not have cell service we could make wifi calls. Vacasa was very helpful and responsive.
My only suggestion would be to add some window screens to keep the occasional fly out as you let in the ocean breeze. Would stay again!

If you want to disconnect from cell phones and Internet this is the ideal place to be! Very quiet and peaceful. Loved our stay!!

We loved this little studio

Quaint, small place, very nice, and as advertised with one major exception. There was no internet available for 90% of our stay (and no working TV either). AFTER booking (and non-refundable I might add) Vacasa said all you may need to do is reset the internet router as it could be spotty, but it never really worked. There was never more than 1 or 2 bars--EVER and it would not hook up and connect. It kept saying no IP address available which you get when too many people are hooked up to the internet. It was just 2 of us with our phones, and only 1 could get on at a time--and even then we kept getting booted. So much for getting a little work done while on our getaway. So if you want to unplug completely, a great little place for 2 people with nice kitchen and grill, but if you want anything to connect, you will need to go elsewhere.
Manager response:
Thank you for staying with us, Beverly. We do have internet available, but there can occasionally be an issue with the modem and extenders. This will be checked. We hope to see you again!

Very clean and spiffy place. Kitchen worked fine, bed was comfortable. Location was nice with a huge meadow outside, and a glimpse of ocean. Saw a deer and a coyote.
Bathroom had three problems. 1.) the toilet flapper leaked so that every 5 min the tank brought in a little more water to replace it.That amounts to 288/times day not to mention the noise with the refills, audible while in bed. Imagine the waste of water with a sign in the bathroom and kitchen asking guests to conserve water.
2.)The shower faucet extension overhead had a leak in the joint which spurted out water during a shower - another waste of water and bad for the ceiling and wall.
3.) bathroom sink was badly clogged so drained very slowly. A non-caustic drain cleaner would have easily done the job.
These problems had obviously been developing for some time and were not being taken care of by a watchful owner. An earlier review mentioned the same toilet problem and Vacasa replied that it had been fixed. The fix if it occurred obviously didn't work. We keenly felt the absence of an owner's watchful eye. We've rented many times on VRBO in the past with a direct owner relationship and never once had a problem.

The location is AMAZING. You can see the ocean from the front windows, and it is 2 minuets to two State Parks and only about a 5 minute drive to Mendocino. It is also the CLEANEST rental we have ever had. I couldn’t believe it! And the place is very roomy and super quiet. I highly recommend. We hope to be back!

We had a beautiful restoring time in this small simple quiet and very clean space. Grateful for this beautiful jewel we got to enjoy.

Very cozy, perfect for a couple. Located perfectly to access Russian Gulch, Casper Beach and Jug Handle Beach.
Very cute studio with a lot more space than we thought, clean bathrooms and a lot of sunlight. Would come back!!

We love how quiet it is at the Caspar Daydream. It is just the right size for two of us. Nice location as well....easy to get to both Fort Bragg and Mendocino.

Easy to find, close to everything. Nice spot for a quick get away.

We were very surprised at how clean and fresh the place was. Well equipped. Everything worked well.

We found this to be a nice getaway spot for our annual stay in the Mendocino/Caspar area. There was a problem with the well water one morning, but it was quickly fixed. Other than that, this was clean, great location, and everything we needed for the two of us. We’d stay here again if the timing works.

Quiet beautiful I could see the ocean from the house the lady that lives next door was really cool but don't lock yourself out cuz they take forever to get back ahold of you

You are full of yourselves. You want to hear what I loved but not the criticism, which I have plenty of: The first thing is the nonrefundable transaction; the second is the excessive charges and fees that I did not know beforehand; the third is that I stayed five nights and there was only one set of towels; fourth, I was charged cleaning for five nights and there was no one around (basically I feel I was ripped off). Fifth, the place is behind a three-story building with an exposed raggedly looking hut-tub to the side. In all fairness, the place is clean and the bed is comfortable. It has a good size bathroom, but the amenities were sparse. The kitchenette is adequately supplied with a fridge, utensils, plates, etc. In all honesty, I cannot recommend the place and I will not stay there again.
Manager response:
We are very sorry to see this guest was so displeased. The fees are all displayed on our website once a guest has selected dates so they can see their total cost before booking. We leave one set of towels per person in the home, and there is a washer and dryer provided for guest use if they need to launder their towels or other things during their stay. Thank you!

Once you get over the surprise of this house being attached to a huge storage building and go inside, it is a pleasant surprise. It is spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The deer eat, play, and sleep right outside the window. Fun to watch. The directions were a bit challenging but hopefully they will fix that.

Super quiet, loved the hot tub, comfortable bed and laundry a +

My wife and I rented Caspar Daydream for our anniversary weekend. The location was perfect, we were close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg and had access to several other recreational areas. The place was cozy, the small heater kept it warm. We could see the lighthouse from the hot tub at night and the satellite TV entertained us while it rained. We would not hesitate to book it again.

Great house! It was very relaxing and the out the front of the house was gorgeous!!!
Laura O. Nov 2017
Pros: can walk to ocean/light house. Close to both Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Clean. Saw 3 turkeys, 2 foxes and, at the ocean, a whale!!
Cons: excessive fees. (50% of advertised price), demand pricing, closet with carpet smells moldy. Very small toilet area--difficult for tall or wide people.
Manager response:
We will get the carpets cleaned immediately to address any odors associated with them. Thank you!
Priscila B. Oct 2017
Had everything we needed! The internet stopped working but our friends were staying at the main Caspar house.
Jennifer B. Oct 2017
We loved our stay at Caspar Dream. Clean, cozy, and spacious. The light from the gas heater was cheerful and it kept the house warm at night. Convenient to both Mendocino and Ft Bragg. We would stay again.
MICHELE A. Sep 2017
Casper Dream was clean, cozy and close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg.
Jillian F. Sep 2017
Enjoyed our stay. Wish it was longer.
Cindy R. Aug 2017
We enjoyed your place. It is a great deal considering its location. We had to cut off one day due to pet incident and then leave earlier than we wanted to to death in family. We were bummed all the way around. I always looks for things I would change if I owned the place but understand why a renter would not embrace my suggestions. We would have loved to bring our two small four-legged family members.
Brandy M. Jul 2017
Was hoping it was closer to ocean but overall great stay, very clean, hot tub was a bonus and the scenery is so beautiful.
Easy trips to glass beach, lighthouse, state parks, etc. thank you!
Gina C. Jun 2017
Beautiful studio and surrounding area it was very relaxing.
Hailey C. May 2017
Had a nice relaxing vacation. Was able to enjoy the hot tub with a view of the ocean and hear sea lions. The location is not very secluded from neighbors but quiet from traffic and beach-goers. Unable to get the heater to work but they did provide a space heater. Comfy bed. Great location in relevance to things-to-do in Mendocino and Fort Bragg.

The Caspar Cottage was in the perfect location to hike along the coast, visit the lighthouse or walk around Mendocino/Ft Bragg. The bed was very comfortable and the cottage nicely appointed throughout. Even the washer/dryer was a bonus if you needed. The area is quiet and set back from the road so minimal noise can be heard. The hot tub was perfect at night after a long day of hiking. The posting says the gas fireplace is good for ambiance but it's the only source of heat for the entire cottage and when the temperature drops outside it can take a while for the cottage to warm up. There is an additional space heater provided (which we needed) and was helpful. The internet was not reliable and when it did work, the internet was too slow to download anything. There is satellite TV with a decent number of channels. Also, there are some neighbors nearby so not as much privacy as we had hoped for. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the cottage had everything we needed. The location really can't be beat!

Cottage was nicely decorated and clean. Don't miss the great hike in the woods behind the property!
Ashley D. Aug 2016
Very sweet home, washer and dryer, hot tub, full kitchen, comfy bed!
Kay D. Aug 2016
Lovely walking access to the Point Cabrillo lighthouse and a partial view of the ocean. You can hear sea lions and walk through a nearby neighborhood to a public access point to see them. Jughandle park and the trails there are easy to get to and absolutely breathtaking. The place is decorated colorfully and the bed is comfy.
