This 1925 Vermont farmhouse invites couples, family, and friends to reconnect for a quiet retreat amid Northern Vermont's natural splendor, with year-round activities and recreation on your doorstep. This private retreat, just four miles from Jay Peak Resort, boasts a spacious yard and patio with a private hot tub and seasonal, in-ground pool available during Summer months. Immerse your senses in the sights and sounds of nature; hear the crunch of the snow, leaves, grass, and pine needles underfoot, smell the sweet scent of pine and maple, see the night sky illuminated with stars. The home backs up to the Jay Recreation Area, a 300-acre natural area full of trails for hiking, jogging, mountain biking, skiing and snowshoeing. Access is a quarter-mile away. The Catamount Trail (the length of Vermont on skis) passes across the road on its final miles to the Canadian border.
The main level level is generously furnished with cozy sitting areas and space to gather. A spacious living room features a plush sectional and sitting area anchored by an inviting wood stove. An adjacent den/media room offers a sofa, oversized beanbag chair, and a 65-inch smart TV. The kitchen is fully-equipped with stainless appliances, all cookware, and small appliances. A five-seat breakfast bar opens to the dining area which features an eight-foot, antique dining table and fairy light lanterns in the bay window.
All five bedrooms are located upstairs. There’s the second, full bathroom with a double soaking tub and a front-load washer and dryer also on this floor.
The small surrounding communities offer a variety of activities that vary by season. Montgomery has a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, trails, covered bridges and summer music just over the mountain . Berry Hill Farm in Westfield has amazing, fresh, local produce in season. Big Falls State Park and the Jay Gorge offer the best of the best natural swimming holes, if you manage to leave the pool on a hot summer day. The tiny town of Jay is a quarter-mile mile away, with groceries, deli, gas, dry goods, gifts, and a restaurant and bar. If you enjoy the Jay Rec Area, please consider dropping off your deposit beverage cans and bottles at the shed by the Jay Town Hall to benefit the Rec Area.
Come, visit and enjoy the warmth of natural, rural Vermont.
