Canal-view and dog-friendly home w/ shared pool and boat slip - fish from deck!

Relax canal-side and dock your boat at your very own boat slip behind the house. This dog-friendly vacation home in Jamaica Beach has all the ingredients for the perfect water-based trip, including views of the bay.

Located right on a canal that empties onto West Bay, this house has a boat slip for your vessel. Beach access is just a quarter mile away, a public boat launch is less than a mile up the road, and downtown Galveston is a 16-mile drive to the northeast.

The interior of the elevated house is warm and inviting, with sloped wooden ceilings and huge windows. Curl up on the couch and put in a rented DVD, or flip through cable until you find something interesting. If you're planning to go out on the water, log onto the free WiFi and check the weather report before you head out.

Take the time to prepare an elaborate Sunday brunch in the fully equipped kitchen, which has ample counter space and stools where people can perch and chat with the cooks. A blender and mixer speed up food prep, and the coffeemaker makes sure that you're adequately caffeinated while you work.

When you're done, bring your meal outside to eat on the shaded porch overlooking the canal. On a warm afternoon, fire up the gas barbecue on the lower deck and grill some burgers.

This home offers a queen and double bed, as well as a bunk bed in the newly converted garage bedroom, making this home great for couples traveling together. Six people will sleep comfortably here, and for a small nightly fee two dogs of up to 25 pounds are welcome to come along. In the garage space, a private washer and dryer keeps up the supply of fresh linens if you're staying for a while and there's also a full bath with a tub (no shower) and a bunk bed. There's also an outdoor shower available.

We loved the canal view, loved the kayak available for use. But this place needs a lot of work, the counter was very sticky I had to scrub it and it was still sticky so my guess is it needs to be re-varnished. The deck was soft and nails sticking up,
Manager response:
We have sent your feedback to the local staff for further review. We appreciate you letting us know there is room for improvement and will work diligently with the homeowner to make any updates and repairs. We look forward to hosting you for your next vacation!

Great home for a quick getaway - you had what we needed available - thanks
Alida K. Jul 2021
We enjoyed our stay. It just needs a few updates. A new shower head would be nice. And the boat lift needs fixed. A pan or something under the downstairs AC unit so that the patio wouldn’t have green slippery slim would be a great help.
All in all we enjoyed our stay.
Manager response:
Hi, Alida! It was our pleasure hosting you and we are glad you overall enjoyed your stay. Our property manager has checked the showerhead and confirms is working fine. We will discuss the boat lift and catch basin with the homeowner. We hope we can host you again soon!

We have shared your comments regarding TLC for the home with our local management who will work with the homeowner to address any needed updates. We hope to host you again!

It is a cozy place! The couch and beds were comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked! We had everythingwe could possibly need to make a meal. The deck is perfect to eat al fresco or just enjoy a cocktail and read a book! I would definitely stay there again do!
The only thing I would not recommend is, sleeping in the bottom floor bedroom, it smelled like mildew and one of the pillows had what looked like mold.
Manager response:
Hi, Anya! Housekeeping will check the pillows to make sure they are all in good shape. Thank you for staying with us!

We loved staying on the canal and loved the kayaks being there for us to use.

We liked the house, it just looks like it needs some exterior maintenance with the foundation.

Nice local

Stayed here for my birthday and had an amazing time. House was perfect and close to some pocket entrances to beaches that were practically private. Canal was also fun. My husband went kayaking and fishing. We will definitely stay again!!

While we had a great time on our visit to Galveston our cottage rental had some issues. The house overall was very clean and we pretty much had everything we needed, however there were some issues that other renters may want to be aware of. First, the 2 beds were not good at all. The front bed by the balcony was horrible (I had to sleep on the couch) and the second bed was not good either. The house needs some structural maintenance and some foundation work. The lower bedroom has a window AC unit that has water running out on the concrete creating an algae slick that is extremely slippery. The shower up stairs is extremely small with horrible water pressure. There was only one roll of toilet paper upstairs and one roll down stairs, so we had to go and buy extra toilet paper. The house served our needs overall but would probably not rent this unit again.
Manager response:
We are disappointed to see this guest would not return. The mattresses were purchased within the last 18 months, but we did discover the bed frame was broken and imagine that was the source of our guest's discomfort. This has been fixed. The air conditioner unit does leak, as it is supposed to, and the area where it leaks is not a common walking area. Maintenance is scheduled to inspect the water pressure. We are excited to announce the upstairs bathroom will be renovated this fall, and we look forward to sharing the improvements with our guests! Thank you!

Enjoyed our time at the cottage. It was cozy for two adults and 2 kids but suited our needs quite well. Was pretty disappointed key to kayaks was broken and not replaced. Attempted to call vacasa but never heard back from them. Kids were really looking forward to this feature and was a big contributor in our decision to rent this property vs others. Great view of the canals. Very relaxing with Close beach access and about a20 minute drive to Galveston. House was well maintained
Manager response:
We apologize for the broken lock. We are unsure of what number this guest was using as we have no record of any calls from this guest during their stay. The kayak lock has been replaced. Thank you!

We loved staying at this house with our family. The location was exactly what we were looking for this summer. Owners were clear and easy to work with compared to other rentals.

Had everything you needed. Very clean and very homey. Felt like it was your own place. Plan on booking again for the summer

Nice views, close proximity to boat launch.

We stayed here to be close to friends staying two houses down. We found the house to be better than expected. Nicely decorated and comfortable. The house certainly had more room than we expected and was well stocked with towels, blankets, and kitchen accouterments. Too many amenities to list here. We had a wonderful stay.

The place is clean but we rented the canal house for fishing and it’s not a good fishing spot. The place is a great place to just hangout if that’s what you’re there for.
Anthony C. Oct 2017
It was cozy and comfortable. Surrounding area was quiet.

The Cottage was a nice place for a family gathering. It was September and the crowds were gone. Only a few locals visited the beach. There were no lines to wait in. The hurricane was gone and damage was minimal. Weather was great and the winds were not enough to stop a good kayaking adventure into the West Bay.

The house is pretty. Colors are inviting. The location is easy to reach and right on the canal. A bit of a walk to the beach, but only a 5-minute drive. The kids loved the beds. The couches were comfortable and the deck made a great place to sit and watch the sun come up or go down. The descriptions is almost perfect.
This is a small house. It has 3 bedrooms, but two are upstairs and fairly small, though comfortable and adequate for sleeping. The 3rd bedroom is downstairs in the lower level, separate from the top. It has bunk beds. My adult daughters did not want to sleep there. The upstairs couch worked well. The room did have a big claw foot tub and was very adequate for teens or younger, though you wouldn't want to put young kids in there (no way to protect them).

But this is not a negative review. This is a great place for a smaller family, a family with teens, or several young adults. There's much to do. But for my family, we need a bigger place. I will look for that and probably with Vacasa. It's a good company to rent from. Just read the descriptions more carefully and ask questions.

Otherwise, come here and enjoy the vacation.

My family (3 kids - 11, 8, and 2) and I enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home in mid September. We had everything we needed. The neighborhood is very friendly and quiet! The beach was great and in September it was not crowded at all! The drive to all the tourist attractions in Galveston was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this house for a family vacation or just leisure time!

The pictures of this cottage does not do it justice. This home is beautiful. The area is quite and peaceful. This is the ideal space for boaters. The boat ramp is one block away and you have the convenience to lift your boat out of the salt water while it is docked at the home. Boaters will adore this spot. We loved it and will be back!!!!!
David A. Aug 2017
House on canal was exactly what we got , able to fish , has a boat lift...had a great time

Wonderful couple of days for a fishing get away

Nice canal location, loved the upstairs balcony.

Great weekend getaway
Chad B. May 2017
Small little issues that could be fixed but for the price as location of the house it was worth it. Nice little house. No issies with neighbors. Bed in master needs to be replaced. Made popping sounds every time you would move. Didn't sound too sturdy. House needs to be sprayed for bugs. Ants and other little bugs inside. Other than that the house was good. We enjoyed our stay and these issues were not a huge bother to us but could be for someone else.
Manager response:
The home has been sprayed for bugs and the bed has been replaced. Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay over Spring Break!
Susan W. Feb 2017
Owners are very new. They are very receptive to any and all suggestions on how to make this property better. We really enjoyed our stay except for people with barking dogs that leave for work early in the morning and leave their dogs out all day to bark. No sleeping in here!!!!!
