Islander Beach Resort - Fort Walton Beach Vacation Rentals

This was our second year staying at The Islander, we stayed in a studio last year. We decided to go with this 2 room unit this year and it was well worth it. Hands down the best part was enjoying meals on the balcony. Will return to this unit in the future!!

First I will comment on the Islander as a whole, then on unit E 2007 specifically. I really enjoyed our stay at the Islander. The walk to the beach from our room was one of the shortest I’ve ever had. The beach was beautiful white sand with emerald water. There were patches of seaweed in this area, but enough open sand in between that it wasn’t a big issue. I interacted with several staff members and they were consistently friendly, helpful, and professional. I appreciated having 2 beach chairs and an umbrella included with our room and took advantage of that service each day. The pool was also nice and my middle school age children enjoyed it. It was a busy weekend while we stayed, but noise was not an issue as the pool closed at 10 each night. As far as our unit in particular, I was very pleased. This 2 BR 2 bath unit was very roomy overall. The space was a little tight in the second BR with 2 twin beds, and the second bath was small but functional. The decor was beachy but in neutral colors. The unit was clean with newer white appliances. It has some areas showing wear and tear, but just cosmetic. The counters are Formica, not granite, but that’s fine with me. I don’t have granite at home either. This unit is priced lower than the other units of this size because it hasn’t been updated, but for our family that allowed us to have the space we wanted on a budget. I was very pleased with the space, especially in the kitchen, balcony, and master suite. I was able to find everything I needed to prepare the meals I had planned. There is a Publix grocery store on the mainland just past the connecting bridge. I used the drip coffee maker, but I saw that there was also a Keurig in the cabinet. I plan to bring laundry detergent the next time to take advantage of the washer and dryer. I will definitely rent this unit again for future trips to the gulf coast.
