Founded in 1774 as Sudbury, Canada, Bethel is decidedly American in nature, with star-spangled flags proudly billowing in the summer breeze. The Atlantic and St. Lawrence Railroad in 1851 connected the sleepy town to bustling Portland and cosmopolitan Montreal. Wood manufacturing has long been a town staple and you'll find remnants of the old mills that once dominated the town.
