The private beach is outstanding. They clean it twice a day. There is so much to explore along the gulf and bay without ever leaving the property. We loved the privacy of Pointe West. There is an excellent grocery store 8 miles from the location to grab things for meals. I think it's called Seven Seas Grocery.

Highly recommend taking the ferry, we spotted some dolphins, collected awesome shells and had a great time, and it's free! The beach was easy and convenient to get to. There is a great Mexican restaurant (Tortuga Mexican Kitchen) right across the street, and we went to Joe's Crab Shack for a meal that was delicious. Other than that we stayed at the resort and went swimming in pools.

We enjoyed several local restaurants, including Shrimp N Stuff (lunch/dinner)and Mi Abuelita's (breakfast/lunch)...both just down the street from the house. In fact, we liked them so much, we visited both twice during our 4-day stay! Miller's Seawall Grill (breakfast) and Rudy & Paco's (dinner/night out) were great, too. We also took the ferry across to Bolivar and stopped in at Hardheads for drinks/apps one afternoon.

Favorite experiences included walking along the beach in the moonlight and sunlight and in the evening watching the lights of the ships parked along the horizon. We also loved buying fresh fish at a market near the Strand and then cooking it in the condo for a quick, delicious meal.

The Rainforest Cafe was awesome. The Top of it actually "erupts" with fire! The indoor boat ride is fun for the whole family too! We also enjoy Game board Island on the strand. You can play endless board games while eating cafe style foods or sipping lattes! Then of course the ferry and the confectionery. The only down fall was the 2 rats we saw while on the beach. Stewart beach was better and worth the 10 bucks to park right on the beach and no rats plus a shower and a playground.
  • Galveston

    Christy H.

Fish Tales was great to eat at and hang out at. Mario's on the Seawall unfortunately has gone down hill in service. Our waiter and the team there were terrible. Food was good, service, the worst.

  • Galveston

    Tony H.

The location was about 20 minutes outside of the city, which I knew going in. The remoteness of the property was perfect for a family get together. It facilitated family bonding and mad going into town a to do. I'd definitely recommend stocking up at the supermarket on the way in.

Also, the relative remoteness of the property meant less ambient light at night and led to some great star gazing.
  • Galveston

    Robin P.

Make sure you bring everything with you or you will have about a thirty minute drive to Walmart or spend 3x's at 7seas with limited selection since its do small.

The ocean is very sandy. So, it is not your crystal clear water; but, the waves are fun to play with. We loved the ocean and powder beach. We spent sometimes in Moody Gardens and it was okay for a short trip. However, it is overrated. Galveston historic downtown has a lot to discover. Every time we go we find a new thing to explore.

We ventured out to town (which I wish were closer at times) and tried a few new places. Shrimp N Stuff downtown was a nice quaint place with delicious food and much less than Gaidos). We also went to Mosquito Cafe - quality fresh food (one of our must stops each time we come to the island).

We loved fishing in the bay, so close to our property. We rented a golf cart to go across the highway to the Beach Club, beautiful pool and beach access. The kids pool/lazy river was very close, but we didn't utilize it much because of very crowded conditions. A resort area this size needs to update with more pool areas and definitely an adults only area.

    Do not stay here.
    arrival we were meet with
1 both side tables ripped out of walls along with lamps
This was reposted to house keeping and upon departure nothing had been done
2 the electrical outlet was hanging out of the wall and shocked both my husband and myself
3 the bathroom had mold in the ceiling above shower
4 the shower curtain was dirty full of mold and I don't know if had ever been changed
5 the door to pirch was full of rust and jagged metal
We had to call kids pediatrician to confirm t shots were currant after daughter was scratched
6 chairs on deck were broken very jagged and dangerous to sit in
7 den chair was dirty, and fabric torn
    8 carpet was dirty
We sent email about these issues and received no answer-
The price of this condo is grossly over priced

We went Dolphin watching and saw at least 100 dolphins. Our guide said we must be good luck because that is more than he has ever saw at one time... We went to Moody Aquariums and Rainforest, amazing! We went to Pleasure Pier and had so much fun. We went to "The Black Pearl" to eat seafood and it was amazing. ( be prepared to wait but it was worth it). We went swimming in the ocean right in front of the house, several times and it was so refreshing. We toured Moody Mansion and Bishop's Palace and were totally awestruck. Our children and grandchildren said "This is the best vacation ever!"

We were only there 4 days and coming from Missouri so we spent the majority of our time at the beach or in the swimming pool. We loved Moody Gardens. Also, the neighborhood pool ($5.00 per person) was great. Not overly crowded and very clean. Mostly, we enjoyed the house and deck. On the deck, you had afternoon shade, which was wonderful. The grandchildren really enjoyed the fishing in the canal. Caught trout & croakers (I believe). We did catch & release - and now both little ones can bait a hook and cast on their own. Sweet, sweet memories.

Galveston is a great place for history, food and fun! Although I, personally, am not a Galveston beach fan due to the water/sand color compared to other prettier beaches along the Alabama/Florida coast, I must say I was quite impressed with the city of Galveston's efforts to clean the beaches of seaweed, debris and trash! I have lived in the Houston area all of my life, and this particular visit to Galveston was one of the best in terms of beach cleanliness!

historic downtown offers gems, just avoid the chains, tourist trap food and souvenir shops seeking out instead the longstanding legends, art galleries and creative local cafes. Eat Cetera, Oasis vegetarian, Olympia Grill, Star Drug, La King, Hey Mikey's, Rosenberg Library, Tree Sculptures Tour in historic district, Post Office Gallery District around 21st, The Grand 1894 Opera House. Walk around and enjoy the architecture.

The Pier is a lot of fun! However PLEASE if you love seafood and that's what you are there for, AVOID at all costs Bubba Gump Shrimp, and Fish Tales restaurants. They have incredibly long waits, the food is not very good, they are VERY VERY busy and you will pay about 5 times more than you should for a decent meal. ?Instead, follow the locals to favorite spots such as Shrimp & Stuff or Bennos on the Beach. Both are reasonably priced and offer a much much better and FRESHER seafood menu than the big touristy places!

Loved the location of the condo and the secured parking. Very pleasant views of ocean, but not too congested.

Gaido's was a good dining experience, but Salt Grass, although a chain, served a brilliant red fish and was just a short walk from the condo. The Tremont House was a good place for a nice brunch or lunch.

We sailed on a bareboat out of Sachets (Bay Area Sailing School) out of Kemah- very nice people and great boat. Johnson Space Center- Thumbs up- take plenty of time there. The Drilling Rig Museum was equally impressive and interesting.
We plan to return to experience more of the area.

Crystal Beach, take ferry to Port Bolivar- free and you can find plenty of hermit crabs!
Bishop Palace to feel and understand Galveston's history, family of 4 $37
Ocean Star Museum, great for kids a learning opportunity to teach them about science and all the things oil does for this country and what it makes, family of 4 $25
WIth Walmart being so close it is really convenient if you forget something
Take time to drive "downtown" the antique shops are great and the kids can get something different.
Lastly the Pier 21 Theater, there is a discount brochure in lobby. The Great Storm is something everyone needs to know about Galveston, a quick 27 minute movie. Another opportunity to teach kids about science, weather, water, and earth's crust gets them thinking.

The only spots are the ones covering the carpet. I would NOT rent this unit out to anyone else UNTIL the carpet has been REPLACED. I thought that I had booked a BEACHFRONT condo on the SECOND floor in which I could walk to the beach over a boardwalk and also walk to more than one pool. None of this was what I got until I complained and got moved to another condo on the beachside a day later. This unit is NOT worth over $200/night until some maintenance and real cleaning takes place.

First trip to Galveston. It's nowhere near as bad as the typical tourist-trip beach. A very limited number of souvenir/tourism shops, a good selection of restaurants from chain brands to local selections. Aside from restaurants and beachside bars, entertainment is fairly limited but plenty enough options. An overall great place to hang out and relax.

My friends ,family and I loved the property! It was clean, has an updated furnishings, and most of all it has an easy access to the private beach. We wished we stayed longer but we plan to go back and stay longer next time. We stopped by their beach house ,it looked beautiful and it would be fun to cool down come hot Texas summer months. The only suggestion for you, bring your food for your whole stay unless you want to drive about 30 minutes to pick up things and food yo might need.
