Tucked away in a rural area of Wisconsin, our Friendship vacation rentals offer a quaint village and peaceful getaway to the outdoors.
The town of Friendship is about 80 miles north of Madison and 70 miles west of Oshkosh. If you’re seeking solitude, then you’ve found it. Because the area is so full of opportunities to get outside and explore, travelers hoping to spend time in nature return to this hidden gem year after year.
One of the biggest draws to our Friendship vacation rentals is the proximity to multiple lakes. The closest is Friendship Lake which, like its namesake, is a well-kept secret of the area. Spanning 125 acres, it’s relatively shallow, with a maximum depth of 15 feet. But anglers, fear not: you’ll still find plenty of fish to catch, including Largemouth Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, and Panfish. The shallow depth means the waters are relatively warm in the summer, so be sure to pack a swimsuit.
Just west of your Friendship lodging, you’ll find the much larger Castle Rock Lake and Petenwell Lake, connected by the gently flowing Wisconsin River. Castle Rock Lake is much less developed, meaning there are more access points for boating, kayaking, and fishing. The shoreline around Petenwell Lake is primarily forested—you may even catch sight of bald eagles—but surrounding the lakes, you’ll find dining, golf courses, and shopping.
For land-based activity, Roche-a-Cri State Park is just minutes from our Friendship vacation rentals. Here you’ll find hiking trails that lead you up a giant rock with an incredible overlook. Even more exciting, the base of the bluff is home to ancient petroglyphs and pictographs carved into the sandstone. These amazing relics date as far back as A.D. 900, so be sure to stop by along your hike.
Whether you’re coming for the outdoor activities or to experience small-town charm, our Friendship vacation rentals are waiting to host your perfect getaway.
