Very rustic retreat with a secluded location and great ocean views!
A perfect middle-ground between modern comfort and basic camping, this budget-friendly retreat provides a secluded spot for your next Sequim getaway. Unplug and enjoy peace, quiet, and views at this unique set-up that includes an open floor plan with a shower and sink inside.
A step above camping, this home puts you far from city noise with a private location east of Dungeness Bay. You'll be right in the middle of a wonderful bird habitat, with year-round hummingbirds and eagles nesting above the property. The coastline is a quick walk away, while exotic wildlife awaits at the Olympic Game Farm a short drive to the south. Hike the trail to the Dungeness River or visit Sequim for the Lavender Festival in July!
Things to know:
Full kitchen (no dishwasher)
There is a separate porta-potty outside (no toilet inside)
Your neighbors are the eagles, television is watching ships pass and the sun set. Very quiet (except for bird songs). This place is not fancy at all, but its comfy & very relaxing and plenty close to everything you want to do on the northern peninsula. Book it -- don't let the port-a-potty downstairs stop you.
What a cute little cabin! Easy to find and access, great for a short weekend stay huddled inside from the cold and rain. Beautiful view to Victoria, clear view of the start sky at night.
The area around was pretty marshy and not great for adventuring (well, not in sneakers, anyways), but for a cozy indoor cabin weekend it was great.
Like other reviewers, we missed the fact that it's got a portapotty instead of a bathroom. It's clean and well kept but a little frustrating to use in the dark or rain.
It was a cold windy evening when we got there, so we were pleased that the electric wall heater made the place cozy quickly. The furnishings and all were comfortable and the views beautiful. We did feel let down because the toilet being a port-a-potty at the bottom of the steep metal stairs seemed to be a fact almost hidden in the on-line description and photos. We managed ok tho and really enjoyed our stay.
Clean, cozy, great views, bald eagles in the yard and a telescope to check out what gets the seagulls all excited in the bay there.
If you're looking for a peaceful stay at a beautiful location this is the place for you. The scenery was gorgeous and the duck shack was very neat and tidy.
Nice View, bird watching possible but you only got a portable toilet which was not stated.
We loved the stay at the duckshack. Kids were a little freaked out by the outhouse. The neighbors on the way there were nice, but homes very run down.
Plumbing set for toilet, so looks that might be added in future. I would recommend adding a mirror in bathroom.
View was great, although we could not find a path to beach. Lots of signs stating private property, so didn't want to venture too far.
