Our stay at Jakes was nothing short of wonderful! So cozy it felt like a home away from home. The house is fully set up for living we watched a ton of Christmas movies and made waffles for breakfast. We look forward to visiting again (:

A nice, modest home away from home. The highlights were a great neighborhood and location. Easy driving access to lots of Tahoe highlights, a quiet street that the kids could safely play on, nice streets to walk, and great trails very close to the house. We also appreciated the flat street and driveway since we were there during snow. Our next favorite part was the comfy living room with a great sectional couch, a cozy fireplace that works well, and some windows looking onto the trees. Another positive was the nice spacing between the 3 sleeping areas to give each area some privacy.

The downsides are that it's not that well equipped or maintained for a stay. The kitchen had some basics, but we found quite a few things missing, including no salad/mixing bowl, no cookie sheets, no baking/casserole dish, no ice maker or ice trays, no measuring spoons (except the 2 tiniest sizes), and no liquid measuring cup. You'll also want to bring extra plates and utensils as the house is listed to accommodate 10, but only had 7 bowls, 7 plates, 7 spoons, and 4 butter knives. There were a number of items that needed maintenance attention. Several broken window shades and numerous burned out light bulbs (like around 7-8 of them, including both front porch lights). We did raise the light issue to vacasa to ask that they get fixed before the next renters as light at the front door is a safety issue. They did offer to send someone out that day, but we declined because we had plans didn't want to sit and wait for someone to show up to fix the lights on our vacation. Probably the biggest downside for us was that we found the master bed to be exceptionally difficult to sleep in. The frame is so very wobbly that the slightest movement causes the entire bed to shake back and forth. Sleeping alone in it is OK, but with two, any tiny movement by one person will disturb the other. The poor sleep was a drag on our vacation. We also found one of the bunk beds to be extremely wobbly, but had our son use the other one. The house also smelled like dog. I love dogs, but don't necessarily love smelling dog as soon as I walk in the door. Burning scented candles for a few days helped, but definitely something to be aware of for anyone with allergies. Overall we had a good stay and the location is a highlight, but we'll probably try a different house next time we are in Tahoe.
Manager response:

Our stay was simply amazing and a lot of that was thanks to our amazing host, Jake. Who was quick to respond to our questions and went above and beyond to help us with our stay. The house was very clean and organized when we arrived, we truly fell in love with the neighborhood. The trails and off-roading was literally around the corner from the house! We are all truly grateful to have been able to spend our get away at your place Jake! Thank you so much! And also thank you for helping us with our luggage that was accidentally left behind. You are simply amazing and I would without a doubt recommend staying here. Thank you again!

Location is great, if you're going to Heavenly for winter, this is a killer spot. There were trails nearby, and only took 10 minutes to get to the marina down Ski Run Blvd. Neighborhood was quiet, and neighbors were friendly. This house had potential to be great, but it fell short. The major issue was the cleanliness. Dirty/sticky floors, used tissues on floor, broken glass in closet, dead rat in closet, and ants just to name a few. Wasn't enough utensils to serve a meal for everyone, not a lot of dining space. Bedrooms were spacious, especially master, but again there were a lot of stains. There were damages to the house that were an eye sore but nothing that would affect you. Backyard was nice but also didn't have enough seating. Fridge was nice and big but were set to the warmest temperature which took a while to get cool especially after loading it full of drinks and food. Stove/oven was nice and clean. Toiletries were nice, TP was like sand paper, and hot water ran out quickly between showers. Check-in process made no sense, could've all been done online especially when there's covid19 around, no reason to risk transmission by standing in line where people didn't respect social distancing in the middle of a parking lot in a strip mall. Customer service was hard to get a hold of, long wait times at all times. Again, this house has potential, but a lot needs to change. While Vacasa might be a great company to stay with, this listing did not reflect the quality we came to expect after seeing that they have 4.5 stars across thousands of reviews on their other listings.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Raymond. We apologize for the disappointments you experienced and will be sharing your concerns with the owner for their consideration. We hope to see you again!

Our stay at Jake's was more than we could have asked for. The house is beautiful and comfortable. It has a wonderful outdoor space. It's a quick drive to the lake and all that Tahoe has to offer. Jake was easy to reach and communicate with. His house was a wonderful find and we look forward to coming back in the future.
