We recently spent 8 nights at this property in conjunction with a family wedding in Tahoe. While the actual home and location were ideal for our purposes and easily accommodated our group of 8, our initial impression was negative due to an apparent lack of inspection by the property management company prior to our arrival. The issues included: (1) a missing handle on the door leading from the garage to the interior of the home; (2) an overflowing garbage can in the garage; (3) inability to park our vehicle nose-in due to a support beam (had to back in thereafter – no issue); 4) incorrect WiFi password; 5) significant layer of dirt and dust in the kitchen area, on TV remote, etc..; (6) broken blinds in the master bedroom; (7) garbage strewn around the exterior of the property; (8) lower decks not cleaned off and littered with dirt, dust, pine needles; (9) inability to control the HVAC system due to an issue with the Ecobee thermostats…the constant blowing prevented our group from enjoying a restful sleep for a couple of nights. On the positive side, the management company was very responsive in responding to our issues and scheduled a cleaning crew to remove the dust and dirt in the kitchen area, dispatched an HVAC technician to correct the HVAC issue and discovered the correct WiFi password. The other issues were of minimal consequence. We found the property to be perfect for our group. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of space. The upstairs deck afforded a partial view of Lake Tahoe and was ideal for our needs. The kitchen was equipped with 4 coffee makers and all of the necessary tools, china and glassware we needed for our group. While the home was a bit tired in décor, it did not affect our experience whatsoever. Overall, our stay at the property this was a positive experience, and we would have no hesitation in contracting this property again with the stipulation that an inspection had been conducted by the management company prior to our arrival.

Ski resorts in Lake Tahoe

Our Lake Tahoe cabin rentals offer access to world-class skiing at resorts like Heavenly, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, and Northstar.

Just northwest of Tahoe City along Highway 89, Olympic Valley lies on the banks of the Truckee River. Home to Squaw Valley Ski Resort, this is the spot for world-class skiing and snowboarding. With a stay in a cozy ski condo, in addition to all the winter sports, you'll be ideally located to take the aerial tramway 8,200 feet to the resort's High Camp to enjoy dining, swimming in the heated pool, and a spectacular view of the surrounding peaks.

Not too far away, the ski resort towns of Alpine Meadows and Homewood are veritable winter wonderlands. From a private vacation lodge to a ski-themed condo or luxurious chalet rental, these two locations are a great choice for avid winter sports enthusiasts.

Truckee and Donner Lake

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, outdoor-focused Truckee is just a hair west of the Nevada state line. Boasting 270 trails, 43 ski lifts, eight mountain peaks, and six terrain parks, this town is for the true outdoor adventurer. There's also an abundance of dining options, coffee houses, galleries, and shops to satisfy a variety of visitors. Nearby Northstar-Truckee is home to the famous Northstar Resort, with year-round activities from skiing and snowboarding to golfing and hiking.

Things to do in North Lake Tahoe

Right on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe is Kings Beach, a community brimming with outdoor activities. Kings Beach State Recreation Area has over 700 feet of sandy beach for beachcombing, sand castle building, and just plain relaxing. Close to skiing and fishing as well, there's also casino gambling and entertainment nearby just across the Nevada state line at Crystal Bay.

An outdoor lover's dream, Tahoe Vista is a small community just west of Kings Beach, joined by its charming neighbor, Carnelian Bay. Picture yourself in a lakefront cabin rental in either of these two postcard-perfect spots on Lake Tahoe!

If you like a little more liveliness in your destination, lively Tahoe City is a vibrant, fun-filled playground right on the lake, with three great beaches: Tahoe City Commons, Tahoe State Recreation Area, and Lake Forest Beach. From here, you'll find plenty of things to do—enjoy a cruise around the lake, play golf at Tahoe City's historic course, raft the river, or in winter make the short drive to a number of ski resorts.

Things to do in South Lake Tahoe

Just south of Homewood lies Tahoma, an area surrounded by natural scenic wonders. From your cabin rental in the woods, it's just a short distance to dog-friendly Bliss State Park, with its amazing mountain and lake views. Close by there's also Meeks Bay Resort and Marina, a popular place for water skiing, picnicking, and relaxing on the pristine sandy beach.

What can we say about activity-filled South Lake Tahoe? There's the restaurants, clubs, and casinos. But then there's also canoeing on the lake, golfing on a sunny afternoon, and hiking in a grove of pines—all with the backdrop of the majestic Sierra Nevadas. This is a truly unforgettable destination with something special in store for every kind of traveler!

The communities and cities around Lake Tahoe are as diverse as the many different year-round activities available in this scenic outdoor utopia—and we have the perfect Lake Tahoe vacation rental just waiting for your next adventure!
