Large front yard. Plenty of outside eating areas. Right on the sound. Can dig for oysters and clams that were excellent. Enough inside areas for 10 people.
Extended family had a get-together here around a graduation. We had 7 adults and had plenty of room. The rooms are a little interesting in terms of beds and layout, but we all fit fine. There is plenty of room in the house itself and easy to find spots to split up the crew as well. Kitchen is decently equipped, although dishwasher was so-so at best.
It's not a "modern" place, but it was clean and everything worked once we figured out the front door lock.
One note of disappointment. We wanted to have a small gathering with some friends/visitors. The total number of people would be 12 for about a 3-hour dinner. I respectfully asked ahead of time if that would be OK, and was initially told by the agency that should be fine (I also explained some of us were in our 80's -- so it wouldn't be a loud party). They called me back a few days before our stay to say the owner would not allow it due to a strict policy. So I imagine the neighbors had complained in the past or something. I don't blame them at all, but you should know this strict policy before renting.
Summary: Nice older, funky, clean, fun place to stay for a family or two. It's priced right. It seems like a great place for kids too. Would stay here again.
I rented for the family to stay during my recent wedding on Fox Island. They loved the convenience of being between Gig Harbor and Chapel on Echo Bay. So convenient. Great location and wonderful accommodations.
Comfortable, perfect space for our family and little ones. Well stocked kitchen!
The house is dated and a little dusty but it has a real homey feel to it. We enjoyed our stay and there was plenty of room for our family of 6.
Our family loved hanging out at the house. We had plenty of outdoor and indoor space to spread out. The sleeping options were a little chanllanging for us with a few beds being in the same room. But we managed to work it out just fine. The antique dressers located in the upstairs room were lovely, but the drawers did not function. We had to place our clothes on the top. We were not able to get the key out of the master lock and just opted to lock the front door from inside, then head out the French that locks automatically. We really appreciated being in a well stocked house within a town that doesn’t have a huge tourist pull. Just a 30 minute drive allowed us to get the ferry out of Bremerton and have a great time in Seattle a few days as well. We will surely be back again.
Love, love ,love this house. It's so cozy, charming and comfortable. I wish I could live here
We loved the rustic feel of the house. It had an old wood fired stove and various old housing accessories scattered throughout. My kids loved bed the impromptu lesson on how the wood stove worked and thought it was the coolest. We f only they knew how quickly the fun wears off if that’s all you have!! Beautiful views. Great amenities. Only possible improvement would be a bigger sign at the entryway! We drove past it twice before we found it. Lovely stay overall, no complaints.
We enjoyed perfect weather and a beautiful view. The home is comfy and full of character. Our kids loved it, and the owner did not mind us entertaining there after asking for permission. Cant wait to return!
We truly enjoyed our New Years weekend. The kitchen worked great for cooking and there were plenty of chairs for our large crew.
Welcoming and homey!
Bettys Beach House, we will be back!
Very roomy with lots of beds. The view was great and access to the beach and water was excellent. Our visit was in late fall so sports activities were limited to touch football on the front lawn. With a dock in the front yard paddle boarding and kayaking would be great during the summer.
Dated but fun and very pleased with customer service and house!
Our youngest daughter was getting married in Tacoma and we had various relatives in town, including a family with 4 girls who stayed with us. It was the perfect base of operations: close proximity to Tacoma but removed from the hustle and bustle, and an absolutely gorgeous spot on the water.
The morning of the wedding I sat on the back deck,, sipping coffee, playing acoustic guitar, and reflecting on my little girl growing up and getting married, and watching the pleasure craft and board paddlers go by...it was idyllic.
The morning after the wedding we hosted a bon voyage brunch for the newlyweds with close family. Kids were on the beach gathering hermit crabs (we released them) and skipping stones in the water while the adults mingled and sipped Bloody Mary's and coffee.. It was a great way for everyone to relax and unwind.
The pictorial of the history of the house hanging in the den was interesting. There are some really nice antique pieces of furniture in the house: I especially liked the antique (coal? wood?) range in a corner of the kitchen. The appliances were quality and modern, and the kitchen had everything we needed.
Thanks for being great hosts!
Wonderful home old but well kept. Neat, kitchen well supplied, comfortable beds. Quiet neighborhood great place to relax and enjoy family and the water.
Betty's Beach House was a great spot for a three-generation family vacation. There was plenty of indoor space, although we spent almost all our time outdoors--on the deck, playing on the grass, and enjoying the water. The household is fully equipped--lots of games and lounge chairs and water toys. Some things to know: Two of the upstairs bedrooms relied on AC from the downstairs and fans--there were not windows with screens. This was a problem only on the hottest days. These bedrooms had ensuite baths. The third bedroom has a window AC, but no door and no access to a bath other than through the other bedrooms. Also, there's no railing on the deck, so if you have little kids, that's something to be aware of.
Great place to stay and enjoy the Puget Sound. Close to fishing, water sports, and local amenities.
Very comfy house on the beach
Overall, it was a great experience. We needed a place to stay near Raft Island and Betty's beach house was a great location. The house is cozy and unique, with lots of beds to accommodate many guests. The porch and lawn were a great place to relax and enjoy having the water right at our feet!
We fell in love with the house and property the second we arrived and wandered out back to view the yard and surrounding area (shoes off- bare feet in the cool/soft grass). The beds were comfortable and sleeping with the windows open in that fresh air was a dream. There was plenty of space for our family to congregate together OR to sit out and have down time when needed. The various sitting rooms and living areas were wonderful for all. The deck was a great place for our family BBQ and other meals. We found ourselves WANTING to get back "HOME" after sight seeing in the Harbor or Seattle. We really enjoyed being on the property and sitting outside and watching the wildlife (ducks, geese, cranes, squirrels, otters, sea lion...even a coyote) wander by. The kids loved paddling around in the boats and exploring the area. It just was a great spot and a lovely time.
Older home filled with charm and well stocked. I was so pleased to find everything we needed. Even a full size ironing board and iron. We had a nice time at your place. It felt like going to Grandparents cottage on the water. Very cozy, loving and familiar. Thanks again Nancy and family.
We had three couples and the layout is perfect for providing space for different interests. The deck and views are gorgeous. We did not want to leave!! This was a gem!!
So relaxing by the water.
The gardens and outside areas of this home are lovely. The kitchen has everything you could need. The bay is pretty narrow, much narrower than the photos make it seem. We found it noisy, lots of pressure washers and leaf blowers. We had a dog with us and we're glad to find a place that would allow us to bring her.
We had the most wonderful relaxed weekend here. There were 4 of us with our dog. The setting is spectacular with a large deck, grass backyard and on the water. The house was warm, charming and welcoming! It is the perfect house for a family reunion, sleeping 9+, and allows dogs! We sat on the deck and watched a seal popping it's head up and down, a bald eagle flying past, and geese on the sea wall. We had paddling races,
running games with our dog and made somores at the water edge at sunset. We didn't go anywhere except to get groceries.
Oh, the bed mattresses are superb and we all commented on what great sleeps we had.
We were sad to pack up. It is a beautiful get away!!! I highly recommend it to anyone....enjoy it , you too won't want to leave.
This is a wonderful property that the owners have held through several generations. It was interesting to see how this property started out in the early 1900 and has gone through a few renovations and additions over the last 100 years!. They did a great job at expanding it and modernizing it as well. The house is very spacious and it is located on a large and scenic water front lot that is directly on an inlet from Puget Sound.. One could spend hours just sitting out in a beautifully landscaped yard and enjoy the water front view. The kitchen was well equipped and with a gas outdoor barbecue there is not need to escape into town for a meal. This is a vacation property that I would definitely hope to return to someday.
