The stars shine brighter in Serene Lakes. This cozy cabin in the woods is the perfect retreat for you to escape the hustle and bustle of city living. The propane fireplace adds warmth and ambiance without the work of building a fire. Enjoy a board game or read one of the many books available for your use. The cabin also has two large decks for you to take in the outdoors while enjoying your morning coffee, reading a book, or lying on a blanket to watch for shooting stars at night.

You are less than 15 minutes away from Truckee and 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe.

It was a good little cabin as advertised

Perfect little cabin for a small family to stay in. Close to everything.
Craig G. Feb 2022
Very close to Royal George (snowshoe, xcountry) and Soda Springs. Otherwise as described.

We were so happy to get a last minute reservation at this house to visit with friends in the neighborhood. It is a beautiful, quiet neighborhood, and it’s close enough to everything we wanted to do. The Soda Springs Market was useful, but others stores such as Raleys and Safeway are a bit of a drive (15-20 mins).
We stayed for 4 nights in July with a family of 5. It was just the right size for us with our kids aged 9, 6, and 2.5. The only issue we had for this age group was the vent at the top of the stairs. We have to cover it with a small mat so that the kids wouldn’t be tempted to remove the vent cover.
We had no trouble with heat or cooling. We didn’t need anything for the summer, the temperature was perfect in its own.
We did notice, as others have said, that knives were a bit dull. It might make sense to bring your own. The kitchen is small, but worked fine for us. Most needed items are there (most importantly, a coffee maker!). We appreciated the small bottle of dishwashing soap and new clean sponge for dishes.
One final note: there is a lockbox, but our code was for the door, not the lock box. The info we received clearly said “lockbox.” It was just a bit confusing, since there is a lockbox there.
We had a nice stay at the house and would stay again. It’s a great area!
We found the water pressure in the shower was amazing, but we also had trouble not getting the floor soaked with showers.
The back porch light did not work for us, but we didn’t really need a light with the sun setting so late in summer.
Manager response:
Hello Sarah, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to host you again soon1

We had a great time here. Other than the terrible wifi and back deck flood light not working this was awesome. I read reviews before going and took my own good knife and utensils for cooking. Place was clean, beds comfortable. Construction going on across the street made it a bit noisy but overall a great spot.

I think this cabin might be perfect for a couple, a family of smaller kids, or a family that plans to eat out mostly. As a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 preteens), this cabin was charming but had a few drawbacks I wanted to warn other families about, if they happen to be things they care about. First, the kitchen has a very cold floor (needed to wear shoes to cook), older utensils, and dull knives. It was very difficult to cook a regular dinner for 4 people. Second, the house takes a while to heat up since the heat is from the freestanding gas stove in the living room, which takes a while to warm up the living room (for us, several hours). The bedrooms need to be heated by the electric heaters.

The things I enjoyed about the cabin was the charm of all the Tahoe memorabilia, the coziness, the comfortable beds, and the close location to Sugar Bowl.
Manager response:
Hi, Leslie! We have recently added a space heater to the home to help the fireplace keep our guests comfortable. The kitchen knives and utensils will be inspected and replaced if necessary. Thank you!

The cabin was cozy and in such a peaceful setting. It felt like a wonderful "family" place. We enjoyed looking at the stars and drinking our morning coffee on the deck outside the master bedroom.

Traveled in July 2020; even with temps up to 85 degrees, cabin cooled down @ nite w/opening windows. Newer windows, bathrooms & kitchen remodeled. Kitschy cabin decore. Propane stove & water pressure good. Wifi good, but very slow. Cell reception good. Ants on floor when arrived, but even with pandemic, property manager response good via text. Easy entree w/keypad door. Lovely front porch that stays cool throughout day. Beds very comfortable. Would stay again!

This was a nice quiet stay during the summer months.

We absolutely loved staying here. It was perfect for our two girls, my husband and my mom. I read the previous reviews about heat but the fireplace was on when we arrived and quite warm the entire trip. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to renting again. It was the perfect distance to soda springs and a 15 min drive to trucker.

So affordable for the location, easy check in and check out

This is exactly what my family was looking for. Nice enough to feel luxurious but not so nice I didn’t feel comfortable. We have this place on our list to visit again!!
Jonathon B. Aug 2019
just as advertised really nice , except the internet reception was iffy at best ,otherwise great stay
Manager response:
Jonathon, thank you for your feedback following your stay. We apologize for the inconsistent wifi connection. We always recommend resetting the router to try to boost the connection, but the service in the area can be spotty from time to time. We look forward to hosting you again!

Great location for a quiet getaway. Rustic master bedroom was perfect and the shared bathroom between the two bedrooms was a plus also. Truckee was super-busy on July 4th when my family was there, but this location while close enough to be convenient, was far enough away to avoid the hassle.
Kathleen W. Jun 2019
It was a nice home. Great location with easy access. I little bummed that the TV seems to be strictly for DVD as there is no cable and it is not a smart tv.

We went up to enjoy the last ski weekend of the year. This cabin was perfect for us. Good size (for our family of four + dog), lots of games, close to skiing, etc.

Vacasa is a disaster. Provided wrong info, and is a poor cabin manager. When we arrived, there was 10 feet of snow blocking the cabin and what we had to guess was the front door (and only entrance). The second story balcony was covered entirely by a 15 foot snow drift. Literally, there was no way to get into the cabin. We had to go get a shovel and we spent the afternoon digging a path into our pricey (4-digit $) cabin for the weekend. No way this is acceptable - what if we had we arrived in the evening? Or if we were senior citizens or handicapable? Or we just wanted to spend our time skiing and relaxing vs. doing your cabin’s housework? More issues: There are no curtains in one bedroom - it was hard to sleep, and I was forced awake by the moonlight and morning light. Heat inside was also a problem - only a small fireplace stove as the cabin’s heat source. The living room was dark, because the main light doesn't work. The mini space heaters upstairs (needed because of the lack of heat) kept shorting out the circuit breaker in the bedrooms. Took the better part of 10 hours for the cabin to warm up to a habitable 68F, everyone was super cold. Endless amount of "housework" needed on Day 1 to just not freeze, to find things in the cabin (like the fireplace remote control to turn up the heat to a human temperature), to cover the windows, to look for a house manual onsitfor (which doesn’t exist for the cabin). Vacasa was incorrect on several details of the cabin, which they're supposed to manage. The local Vacasa manager sent one text back, then we were SOL for the 3 day stay despite our necessary questions. Why bother. As it is, the cabin is certainly not worth the several hundred dollars per day we paid to stay over MLK weekend, and I definitely will never stay and pay for a listing "managed" by Vacasa. Stay away. The goods: Beds, bedrooms, kitchen were good to fine. Hot water is limited (runs out after 5 mins). Good water pressure. Overall rating: Thumbs down. This cabin is not for the faint-hearted. For that much money, I will definitely not be returning...
Manager response:
Hi Triane, We deeply appreciate having the opportunity to talk to you regarding your experience. Our sincere apologies that the home was not prepared for your arrival. We completely understand your frustration regarding the massive snow drifts that prevented you and our staff from accessing the home to complete the cleaning process. Our local management team has been made aware of the situation and it is their goal to prevent a similar event from occurring in the future. Thank you for notifying us!
