We were very happy when we arrived but had a few issues within an hour of arriving. First we heard what sounded like a squirrel trapped in the bathroom wall. Next, the faucet head on the kitchen sink fell off when I tried to clean up the sink. Immediately contact Vacasa for assistance on both items. An exterminator and a plumber didn't arrive until the next day. Issues were easily fixed, but should be investigated/fixed further. Rest of our stay was enjoyable but a number of updates of the amenities would greatly improve the home. Oven was difficult to operate. Lighting was also sparse and hard to really figure out. Some simple updates would make the cabin a 5-star stay.

Beautiful aesthetic

Arrival was easy. Everything was pretty clean, as expected. There was so many fun things for the family to do-even the kids were entertained. We really enjoyed the movies, ping pong table, pool table and board games. The setting of the house was beautiful and pretty private feeling, which was nice. The kitchen came equipped with everything we needed, in order to accommodate cooking for the whole family. Though just about perfect, there were a few small issues that we disliked. Some of those negatives were: the carpet downstairs was kind of smelly (like musty ish), we saw several ants on the kitchen counters and table, the dining room light was flickering non stop and the hot tub could use a good cleaning(there was black moldy spots on the headrests and some slimy ish walls), which was kind of a bummer. We understand that some of that is difficult to maintain between vacancy and guests. Wish check out time could have been a tad bit later. We would definitely like to stay again sometime though. Thank you for hosting us and we hope to come back and visit.
Manager response:
Thank you for your review, Stephanie. The carpet is scheduled for a cleaning with plans for a full replacement in the future. The ants have been taken care of, and the mold and light fixture have been addressed. We hope to host you again!

I'll start with the negative — There was a blown circuit/fuse somewhere in the basement that led to there being no hot water for the first day. The same problem seems to have effected many of the outlets and the dehumidifier - leading to the entire basement smelling very musty. Vacasa got an employee and eventually an independent electrician out to fix the problem the next day, which was appreciated but meant we weren't fully free to go enjoy ourselves. Vacasa has been non-responsive to my emails asking for financial restitution for the inconvenience. To be clear: this is a property management problem vs. a problem with the property itself.

The positive — The house itself was spacious and well equipped. We had everything we need for cooking for a big group. The variety of games, movies, etc. meant we were never short on easy activities to do as a group. The hot tub was working well (though one person in our party did get a rash that a doctor attributed to unclean water). Bedrooms and baths are spread out enough that we didn't feel like we were right on top of eachother — if someone wanted to get to bed a bit earlier than the rest of the group that was possible. The location was great in terms of privacy and convenience — short drive to Meijer for supplies, brewery down the road, quick drive to DT Saugatuck, etc. While we abiding by all the curfew volume rules it felt private enough that if we were outside a little later I wasn't worried about disturbing neighbors.

OVERALL — I would say it's worth it so long as you're realistic about what you're looking for. It's good not great. Good value for the $ in terms of square footage/features. Wish Vacasa was more responsive in the wake of problems.
Manager response:
Hi, Sean! We apologize for the inconvenience your trip started with and understand what a frustration that was. Local staff has been asked to review your situation to determine a fair resolution. We will be in touch!

The layout of this house is great, with lots of fun things to do and room to spread out. The owners really took their time thinking of fun activities to add to the house. It’s definitely a party house. There is a disk golf course on site which is awesome. Some of the baskets are randomly placed though and its easy to lose a disk or two in the swamp area. Our family really enjoyed the house and game room in the basement. The land was beautiful and we were impressed that the owners pay to have the property sprayed for mosquitoes. The service was out to spray the second day we were there, which helped a lot. There were a few things that need improvement. This is for sure a house that gets flipped regularly and not cleaned well. It can use a deep cleaning and is in MAJOR need of carpet cleaning. There were splash/drip marks on the walls, lots of dust and cobwebs and the carpets really grossed us out. There were multiple areas of stains and spills, likely from parties and accidents from pets. When you reach the bottom of the stairs to the basement, a small carpet was placed over the main carpet to cover multiple stains and it smelled like wet dog. The coffee pot should be replaced. We turned on the hot tub and only two of the jets were working, not sure of that was user error. We really did love this house and with a good cleaning, it would be a 10 out of 10.

Enjoyed our stay at Chill n Grill
Very relaxing and peaceful to have coffee on the deck and hot tub evenings!

We had a family week of vacation here with 8 adults and three kids under 3. We enjoyed the location and all the space. Loved the firepit and outdoor patios. The kitchen appliances were very outdated, thankfully we brought our own coffee machine and some pans or else it’d be difficult. Coffee machine needs replaced, seems a very easy solution to a significant problem seeing past reviews mentioning the same issue. Dishwasher isn’t bolted in which was problematic with infants crawling around and the racks are terribly unfitting and just old. Also the temperature situation in the house is terrible- freezing downstairs and so hot upstairs. Everyone who slept downstairs slept terribly every night, one person even left a night early because of it. The strict parking rules seem a bit over the top, there’s plenty space to park without being on the grass. Hot tub needs some maintenance- the lid bar is bent and the front left seat is broken and just floats around. We did have a great time and loved the seclusion and location but would likely not rent this house again unless all the above were fixed. Thank you for having us!
Manager response:
Hi Sabrina! Thank you for your review. The coffee machine has been replaced. The dishwasher was inspected by our maintenance technician and it is reported to be in good working order. We also had the hot tub checked out and neither the seat nor lid bar is broken. We apologize for the heating issues you encountered during your stay. To clarify, there is central AC, a thermostat, and baseboard heating in the home. Our guests are able to adjust the temperature as desired. We would have been happy to assist you with operating the thermostat if we had been made aware of your concerns. We hope to have the opportunity to impress you in the future!

The house had so many amenities: Frisbee Golf, small pond, hot tube, game room, screened in porch....etc. See images for more. The best part was it felt like there were several areas to hangout. Each location within the home and outside kept our trip exciting and fresh. There was a winery a 5 min drive down the road. We are already talking about going back. The absolute only reason I did not give it a 5 out of 5 star was 2 reasons. The washing machine was not bolted in to counter top. So that when the drawer was pulled out it tipped forward and nearly smashed several dishes. Really need that bolted down so when the drawers are pulled out with dishes it can tip. Second, was the coffee pot. The carafe (pot) did not fit the machine and we had to stick a utensil in between pot and machine so button would be hit to release the brewed coffee into the carafe. Otherwise, the place was nearly flawless.
Additionally, each room is separated throughout the house enough so so that everyone had their own space and it felt very private.

This house is SO charming. It's very well appointed, we showed up with our groceries and were all set for our few days of relaxation. Tons of games, movies, the hot tub was incredible. Just what we needed after not having traveled for nearly a year. Bed was super comfy. We loved it so much we've already booked it again in February.

This property was absolutely amazing for a small family gathering and our dog. It was sparkling clean, so much character and had such wonderful landscaping and grounds. Just beautiful. I would 100% come back to this house. We absolutely loved it. It was also equipped with everything we could possibly need for ourselves and our dog! 5 plus stars!!

The home was beautiful, clean and comfortable. We loved dining outdoors on the patio and gathering around the bonfire pit at night. The well-appointed kitchen made cooking a breeze. Appreciated the welcome treats for our dog, what a nice touch! Highly recommend this home away from home!

We had an AWESOME time at Camp Grill N Chill. The place has everything you can ask for - games, hot tub, fire pit, tons of space, and privacy coupled with a close proximity to town. Everything was extremely clean when we showed up. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Thank you!

We really enjoyed how spacious and comfortable (and clean) the house was, with a ton of different things to do at the house and only a quick 10-15 min drive to the beaches and best restaurants and bars of Douglas, Saugatuck, and South Haven.

Fantastic stay! The house was larger than expected. The deck was fantastic for all ten of us to do yoga in the morning. Plenty of beds and space to spread out. It was also close to the beach. We stayed in July but I would love to come back every season. Clean, comfortable, and well equipped for a long weekend. Gorgeous property!

Absolutely beautiful and perfect spot for family vacation! This by far tops any of our previous vacation homes. We will definitely return.

Plenty of room for everyone.

We enjoyed all the house and property had to offer! We played pool, shuffle board, and ping pong with our kids and friends, then relaxed in the hot tub and by the fire pit in the evenings. It was a perfect place for our 2 families to enjoy fall break! The hammocks are so peaceful in the sun. It was truly the best location to enjoy Saugatuck, as well as Holland and South Haven. We will definitely be back!!

This property is stunning! It's tranquil, private and only a few minutes from downtown Saugatuck. The check-in and check-out process was very simple. The property group provided text updates, which was very appreciative. The kitchen is very nice--gas stove with a built-in griddle was great for cooking eggs and bacon. The outdoor space is perfect for a large group. We spent most nights huddled around the fire pit. They provided the wood, which was even better. Hot tub was very clean and large. It easily accommodated all six of us. Overall, great location and service. I would highly recommend.
