We Loved, loved, loved everything here at Stone Lagoon Cabin. The beds were super comfy and plenty warm. We didn`t have to light fires at night, just once in the morning. In the surrounding areas we spent all our time hiking Lady Bird Grove, Fern Canyon (Do not miss) Prairie Creek & Fern Canyon Trails and a few short trails at Avenue of the Giants. We were delighted to get stopped by a herd of elk outside of Orick, they had stopped to graze on the trees lining the highway. We enjoyed breakfast at the Seascape Restaurant (Great views and food) and dinner at the casino: beautiful sunset viewing at a corner window. I wish we had more time at this special hideaway.
Great location in between all three Redwood Parks with plenty of coast to explore. Very cozy cabin with enough amenities to make your stay relaxing and provide everything you need. Went to bed and woke up with a very large herd of elk to make our stay even more enjoyable!
This place was terrific! It had everything that one needs for a getaway. We saw 25 elk while visiting! Beds comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. Decorations western and eclectic. Quiet location while also easily accessible from highway 101.
The cabin itself and location are gorgeous. It definitely seemed like someone hired an interior designer to purchase all the interesting artifacts and decor and dress the cabin. African artifacts, Old Western references, bright colors and glass baubles throughout while not taking away from the rustic woodsy appeal. Such an interesting and modern spin on a cabin while also feeling like it is from a past era. The back yard is lovely for staring into the rainforest and having a cup of coffee. The front yard boasts a seating area with this fantastic table made from a tree, sitting right next to a spectacular forest view! We enjoyed coming home and spending time inside the cabin just as much as hitting the beaches right around the corner. (I recommend Trinidad State Beach, Agate Beach and College Cove.) The kitchen is very “hobbity” and was a warm, nostalgic-feeling place to prepare meals. The owner really takes pride in this place and it’s upkeep. Also she is extremely friendly and very easy to get a hold of should you have any questions. She lives up the road , but was not invasive at all. We only spoke with her when we called to ask something and she was flexible about late checkout as well which was a great stress off our shoulders the last day.
The only negative take away was not the fault of the cabin nor the owner, but just something to be aware of. The speed limit is 15 on this road. We might have been doing no more than 20 tops at some point along the road. A neighbor (former Chicago cop) drove up our driveway and came up to my husband while he was sitting in the driveway and I was in the house. I heard some sort of confrontation outside so I came to the door. He was extremely abrasive and insisted that he gauged us with his eyes and we were doing forty. I assured him that he was mistaken as we were already keeping a check on our speed and being very conscientious as we drove up the dirt road. He seemed to have a hard time taking the hint that he needed to leave and kept repeating himself. It was a bit like the Twilight Zone and he seemed to not realize that he was saying the same thing over and over while also not listening to any of my responses. When he finally left, we made sure to check our speed again as we drove down the road. Not only were we definitely NOT going 40 miles per hour, it would have been physically impossible to have done so without our entire car shaking violently at every single bump in the unpaved rural path. Right when we hit 20 the car started to threaten to fall apart if we went any faster, something we definitely
Would have noticed if we had been traveling 40, which we were not. Not only that, but I distinctly remember driving most of the way with my foot OFF of the gas pedal for that very reason—the bumpy road and violent shaking if I put my foot on the gas for more than a second. So a senile old retired cop basically verbally confronted us on our peaceful vacation for what apparently was a flashback from his Chicago career and a severe abundance of time in which he has very little to do other than harass the vacationers on his street towards whom he is obviously somewhat bitter.
Anyways! Don’t let this deter you from a great host and amazing location and cabin. Just watch your speedometer so that you are a witness to how fast your car is traveling in case Retired Cop Man should give you a hard time.
I absolutely LOVED the cabin. We were able to use GPS but I brought printed directions just in case. The emails with WiFi info weren’t 100% accurate but the binder in the cabin is always up-to-date and extremely helpful. I honestly can’t say enough good things about the cabin. It was clean, loved all of the decor, the property, views and etc. if you’re looking for a place to stay, this is ideal. It’s rural and remote, which is exactly what we wanted. You’re only 10-15 minutes away from a lot of places and right next door to the Redwoods National Park. Again, there aren’t enough words to express how much we enjoyed the cabin. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t consider hijacking the pillows and duvets/comforters lol. I didn’t!… but they were lovey.
Cabin is beautiful. We came from Kalamazoo Michigan to site see the redwoods. Fireplace works awesome (no problems). The only thing I would say the cabin needs is a fan. Redwoods are amazing, no elk at cabin but we did see them in the parks. Best place for Breakfast/lunch/dinner is in Eureka. Didn`t see any bears just poop..... We hope to come back!!! This was our first kid free extended weekend in 3 years.....
Best wishes and stay safe
Never been this far North! Came for my 31st B-day and was surprised by my boyfriend w/ this quaint cabin! Love the character & detail of this place. Funny thing , when we first got here, I was overly excited about the amount of berries, but when I went to pick some, I felt stinging in my arm & leg! Instant rash started to appear w/ bumps! It was a funny, but humbling experience. The first night we grabbed some pizza nearby and relaxed. Next day, we traveled to Fern Canyon, then up the coast to visit family in Brookings, Oregon and found Battery Point where we explored the lighthouse (watch out for hightide -when it's inaccessible!) Highly recommend Newton B Drury scenic parkway! Also, a MUST SEE is Trees of Mystery! Spent much time there in Klamath.
We loved the cabin! It's our first trip to Northern Ca., and this was the perfect place to stay. So cozy. The area is stunningly beautiful. We enjoyed meeting you Jill, and we'd love to make our way back again. Thanks!
Coming from New York, the weather reminded us of a nice fall day in Buffalo. The views were beautiful and your cabin was cozy and cute. It took us a little while to get the wood stoves up and running (we don't have them from where we live). One Youtube video and we were up and running! People looking for elk, we saw about 20 a couple minutes down the main road! (Scenic Highway). If your looking for a nice hike with lots of large redwood trees, try - Trillium Falls Trail. If you're looking for a beautiful viewof the ocean - beach or tide pools, try Patrick's Point Park (does cost $ to enter). Thank you for letting us enjoy your cabin!
Coming from a county in Florida packed with a million people, we needed an escape rom life, from work, from reality. Did we ever find it here - The perfect recipe to relax, relate, release - not to mention hike, kayak and see the wonders of the Northern California Coast. Tere were elk to greet us when we arrived, bunnies always on guard around us, and plenty of peace and quiet. The tv was never turned on. We had all we needed - and more. Your amazing place is magical indeed - Thank you for sharing it with us.
A beautifully and wonderfully comfortable cabin, where you can enjoy the outdoors and a peaceful and calming environment. Love to see the elk in the morning and the hummingbirds greeting you at the door. It’s fun to talk to locals and smell the flowers
This welcoming, rustic, cozy household comforts its residents. The birds chirping and singing in the background helps you appreciate the lush, awe-inspiring greenery surrounding you. The elk that cross the gravel drive and lay in the nearby grass gift this land an authentic nature feeling. As the morning sun rises and coats the vibrant foliage absolutely nothing is more inviting than waking up to this astonishing, mystical and ever so peaceful back door patio. The two chairs sitting in the vibrant grass is the perfect place to listen to natures calls. Wherever you look, there is vegetation of all kinds running as far as your eyes can stretch their sight.
The living room screams comfort and warmth. Spending the evening next to the wood stove cooks up a rustic feeling. The decor adds to the cabin feeling as well. Saws, fishing rods, and all sorts of decorations cover the walls. There is always something interesting to rave about.
We sure enjoyed this space while we could, the gorgeous nature setting sad tall redwoods stashed in the background hooks you on this location. A perfect getaway from busy, rushed Los Angeles lifestyle. This area gives you the opportunity to slow down and appreciate all the little details it has to offer. We surely enjoyed our stay!
What a special & unique place you have! We loved everything of this area and home. The 1st morning, we woke up to birds singing, the 2nd morning to, 3 huge Bull Elk in small meadow, 3rd morning to a strange sound - like a heavy wood ball rolling under the bed, perhaps it was coming from the roof? The 4th morning- woke up to sunlight and birds singing.
We warmed by your cozy woodstove in the living room, sipping on tea. The feeling of being at home, away from home, was so comforting.

Perfect place for a quiet, nature-centered stay. The cabin is decorated in a comfortable, charming way and the kitchen is stocked with quality appliances/utensils. Great location for hikes!
We had a great time here! We would definitely come back. One of our favorite things was seeing Elks! Thank you for letting us stay in your house. We went hiking and saw a lot of banana slugs and tall trees. the big tree in Prairie Creek was huge! This cabin is very nice because it takes a short time to get to the beach. T think Redwood is a awesome place to be. One of our other favorite things were sleeping in cozy beds after having a adventure day. Oh!, we also saw a small frog on the door. We also loved the rocking chair. We wish we didn`t have to leave.
This cabin is a gem in the midst of the Redwoods. It is the perfect place to stop and enjoy all the Redwoods has to offer and a perfect oasis to rest and relax. I highly recommend this cabin!
The cabin is located in a great location. The owners have created a great space to relax and enjoy the private property. We were impressed on how well stocked it was. We were lucky to see elk the first morning!
What a special place you have! Thank you for sharing. We enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for letting us stay here. It was so pretty and foggy in the mornings. We had fun here.
Hello from the Parson`s Family! We loved the cabin! Thank you for sharing your home. We had a wonderful stay.
Our first family trip in several years, it was so nice to get away to such a beautiful place and to stay in your lovely cabin. It's everthing we had hoped for and so much more. Until next time.
We had such a wonderful time staying here. The cabin is absolutely beautiful and had everything we could have needed. We stayed warm and cozy at night and even saw some elk at the start of the road in. Such a nice place to stay - we wish we didn't have to leave!
Celebrated my 31st birthday here. What a wonderful escape. We loved it!
Visions of elderflower, rhododendron, ferns, wisteria, and buttercups will be dancing in our heads from now on. Thank you so much for every thoughtful provision.
This cabin is a warm hug. a cozy womb for tired souls!! Our only regret is we couldn't stay longer... But we will be back! Thank you for giving us exactly what we needed to decompress. I love every detail. From the salamanders on the outside walls, to the budda on the pedestal in the hall. This place was created with love and it does not go unnoticed! Truly unforgettable.
What an incredible oasis. Pure inspiration found in every detail. The balance of refined/unrefined is delightful to the eyes. You've done an incredible job creating this welcoming abode. Our small family of four loved wandering the yard, picnicking, checking out Dry Lagoon, and toasting to the good days now and to come. We did an Elk dance but were never graced by them, much to my 3 year old's dismay. Love the ribbit of the frogs and trickle of the creek. Onward down the coast en route to Oakland. Thanks for this spectacular rejuvenating stop along the way.
What a great cabin in a beautiful part of the country. We traveled from Kansas City and had a great time here. We did Fern Canyon, The Ladybird Johnson Trail and had great seafood in Trinidad and Eureka. We rented electric bikes in Arcata. We love the cozy cabin, we haven't built this many fires, ever.
This is an ideal base for exploring the Redwoods. It’s spacious for a family, and has all the kitchen supplies you’ll need. It’s carefully decorated for extra charm. We would stay here again.
We have loved every minute of our spring break cabin getaway. We chased the waves at Trinidad State Beach, walked through the gorgeous Redwood Giants at Lady Bird Johnson Grove - which was the perfect hike for our 2 year old, and threw rocks in the quiet stream right outside of the cabin. Oh, and the cabin- Stone Lagoon Cabin is the perfect mix of rustic, cozy, and luxurious. Jill and Chris, you are the perfect hosts who here thought of everything. Thank you for your hospitality. We felt so at home here and are already planning future returns.
Thank you. Perfect stop to stay and see the Redwoods and the coast. We enjoyed.
I arrived on the 29th and immediately knew I would have a wonderful trip. I had an amazing time and the decorations were cool. I like how there is stoves for heating and not a heating system like normal houses now. I loved the elk and had an amazing time. See you again soon.
Beautiful cabin with rustic charm and eclectic decor. Simple but has all the amenities you need. The notes and personal touches from the owners made us feel very welcome. Easy access to great hiking. We would return in a heartbeat.
From the moment I arrived in this area , I knew this was going to be the best part of my 40th birthday trip. I love the solitude. I love the town of Trinidad, I love the trees and the flowers. I love the creek, the elk, the coast.....I love it all. I feel so blessed to have found this place. I know I'll be back as often as possible. Here I am surrounded by and filled with life.
As our great nation has so much to offer, this Stone Lagoon Cabin does as well. The days prior to our travels here, all we wished to do was "power down" and explore all of natures splender. Though we experienced some days of rain, we were spirit strong on hiking. This area is epic to the soul. Wonderful to be grounded with Mother Nature... Thank you Jill & Chris for our pleasant stay & now another fond memory.
Very much appreciate your cabin. Lovely and cozy few days stay. Stay safe & healthy
Our first trip, it will be etched in our minds for a lifetime! Thank you for making it special!
Thank you for sharing your stunning cabin! It has provided such an enchanting respite location along our Journey South. You have a very special place, we have been delighted with our stay here.
What has already been said: This place is pure magic. Thank you for your thoughtful curation and warm hospitality. Best place to celebrate the end of 2020 and welcome something new. Costal too, diffuse light, majestic elk. There's hope in 2021.
We had such a peaceful stay over the holiday in this lovely cabin! We loved the peaceful & serene setting, and the cabin is just perfect for a getaway. We enjoyed hiking in all of the Redwood Parks and visiting the beaches, and were amazed by how few people we saw on the trails. We also got a full range of weather, which was lovely since we got to see the majestic trees in mist, rain, and sun. Thank you for a lovely visit!
This Vacasa cabin is the perfect get-away place. It’s in a peaceful area, it’s beautifully decorated, and it has everything you need to have a pleasant stay. This is worth every penny.
My brother and I took a well needed road trip and this cabin has been the highlight of the trip. A lot of love has been put into the making of this cabin which gives it such a home-like feeling. I appreciate the beautiful decor. My brother Jack loved the coffee table, it is a work of art! I liked your welcoming committee - a beautiful huge elk was waiting for us in the road when we arrived. I work as a nurse and this has been such an overwhelming year for me and the hospital I work at. I have been extra careful to social distance. It's so peaceful here. I needed this. The weather was perfect for hiking and sightseeing. We were able to see the stars and the quarter moon! This place is Perfect.
What a beautiful place for my husband to surprise me with a birthday trip. We love everything about your cabin. We hope this will be the first of many trips here to come.
What a way to spend a few days in the mossy forest. We loved waking up to a view of plush green, and sounds of birds outside. Fern canyon & tall tree trails are a must. the waves at the beach were magnificent to watch from old tree trunks on the sand. The cabin served as a lovely retreat from the pandemic world out there. Everything was beautiful, relaxing and easy! No service & little internet was a plus. Thank you for opening this home to us was delightful.
Cool 105.5 is awesome. We had a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday here. It was a joy to bake pie in your cabin kitchen and warm our socks on the stove. I perceived a strong sense of the value of repurposing in your home and it was much admired by all of us. I left the recycling in the kitchen and started a load of towels. Thank you for the gifts of hospitality and craftsmanship.
We very much enjoyed our stay in your awesome cabin! We first visited the Redwoods 2 years ago and we absolutely fell in love with their magnificence! When the pandemic started, we were planning our wedding and were looking for a place to honeymoon that was safe & didn't require air travel. We thought.."why not go back to a place we love so much"! So we road tripped from Chicago to Trinidad & it was definitely an awesome first adventure as husband & wife! Your cabin offered us everything we wanted. A romantic, quiet getaway nestled in the forest we love so much! It was perfect! It also offered us the rest & relaxation we needed to prepare to return home & continue the fight against covid-19. Thank You! We hope to return someday (with friends)!
Thank you for the beautiful and much-needed retreat! Your house is gorgeous and comfortable- every little thing was clearly done with care. We look forward to coming back!
We had an amazing stay at the cabin. Very charming and well decorated. It was raining heavily the first morning as we set off to explore the parks and beaches. As we started to drive down the road away from the cabin, we had to come to a full stop because there was a herd of elk walking in the road and in the neighboring field. What a start! Even with a full wall of rain coming down everywhere, it is great to see the trails, trees, and wild life. Enjoyed our time!
Had a wonderful 4 nights in this eclectic rustic cabin in the woods. So happy to celebrate the end of Trump and have a reprieve from Covid, fires and unhealthy air. We hiked the Trillium Falls Trail, the James Irvine / Miners Ridge loop and the Boy Scout Tree Trail. Rrecommend them all! Rain came on our last day and it was great to stay snug inside and read and listen to the rain. We were lucky to see a magnificent male elk on the gravel road to the cabin but they were not near the cabin during our stay. It was all good. Lucky and blessed for our time here.
We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin- it was eclectic and rustic. Heads up- you must be comfortable using a wood stove as there really is no other heat other than a small bathroom heater. Anyone with a smoke allergy would really suffer here. Also- just to be a little picky- there are spiders. We killed about 9 in our bedroom the first night, made for a rough night for myself as I am an arachnophobe. The surroundings are charming, birds everywhere! We would definitely come back.
Hi, Ellen! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your feedback. We do our best to keep the spiders at bay, but being a cabin in the woods, they are a natural part of the ecosystem that helps keep other pests under control. Thank you!
We are feeling refuge from the turmoil and anxiety which this presidency and pandemic have brought! This cabin was a lovely secluded place to "reset". Thank you.
Thank you for creating this magical space for us to relax and forget it was 2020 for a little while.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was very clean and cozy. Near lots of great activities from the ocean to the redwood forest!
Thank you! We`ve enjoyed this super place. Your cabin is very cozy, nice and beautiful.
Beautiful and serene. Exactly what we needed to reconnect. Thank you!
My husband and I just got married Monday at Ecolor State Park. This is our favorite place we've stayed so far! Thank you for sharing this place! With love, from Florida!
What a magical cabin in a moss covered wonderland! We loved walking around the area and seeing some really majestic elk! We were blown away by the views through the windows and the crackling wood burning stoves kept us cozy and warm. We half expected to see fairies out in the yard...so cute! We enjoyed great times...Mom & Blane & Cory & Rose...a special time for us to share just the four of us! Cory & I love the cabin so much we are taking note of the layout and vibe for when we build our first home in the hills in the next couple of years! We can't wait to visit again. Thank you for the hospitality - having plenty of wood, kindling, and a full kitchen was so sweet.
Thanks for a lovely stay! We enjoyed looking up at the giant redwood trees at Prairie Creek State Park. Fern Canyon was also a major highlight. At this lovely, cozy cabin in the woods we celebrated our first anniversary together by making a delicious salmon dinner - enjoying it while we stared at the fire blazingin the wood burning stove. This spot is truly special and we cannot be more grateful to have stayed here! Looking forward to the next time we can stay here. Yeeeew!
What a lovely surprise at the end of our honeymoon trip down the 101 from Olympia, WA. Though not quite as sunny & warm as our original wedding/honeymoon planned in Kauai, we found that our own ceremony & vows at our yoga studio (2nd home) in town was even more special than an elopement to a tropical paradise. Ending it here , in this peaceful cabin was really a treat. Amongst the Beautiful Redwoods & Beautiful sunny skies of the ocean beaches. We enjoyed such a glorious time in nature that we are heavy hearted to leave. But we are thankful for such a wonderful time & a lovely little cabin to round out our adventure. We loved the Boyscout Trail in Jedediah State Park & the drive there is just astonishing. The Lady Bird Johnson Grove is magical as well. We enjoyed sightings of elk, Blue Heron, Quail, and some bird w/ rosy cheeks in the trees that we absolutely could not identify. Thank you so much for sharing this slice of peace & happiness w/ us. We are so grateful to have been here (and will certainly be back!).
Location was ideal for exploring the redwoods, nearby lagoons/coastal areas, and seeing elk at the end of the dirt road as well as Golds Bluff Beach. Interior was as expected - cozy and eclectic. The exterior of the home is a bit overgrown. We didn't use any of the outdoor seating areas.
We had a lovely time on the North Coast and LOVED this location as our home base. VERY quiet, loved seeing the Elk come down through the trail behind the cabin to join the herds in nearby pastures. A bobcat was seen lurking and so many birds! Thank you for the comfortable well furnished and appointed cabin. A VERY welcome respite from the smoke and head inland. We will be back!
We have been making our way up the coast to Portland, from our home in San Diego. What a perfect cabin getaway here. We explored Fern Canyon, Patrick's Point, Stone Lagoon Beach, and Trinidad, and saw many Elk. This was a beautiful place to relax and escape. Thank you!
We had a wonderful stay at Stone Lagoon Cabin. It was so peaceful & restorative to wake up to the beauty outside the windows. A very special place we were happy to stay in and sad to leave. Thank you for this oasis during difficult times of fires & covid.
Thank you for the quiet and peaceful stay! This was a beautiful cabin inside and out. We are unfortunately ending our honeymoon earlier than expected, but this was a nice way to end it. I'm glad we were able to escape from the troubles of life during our time here. I enjoyed experiencing the warmth of a wood fire stove for the first time! God bless!
This cabin was beyond perfect. Highlight of our vacation.
Overall it was great. Could've used another bathroom.
Beautiful location, great time
It is with nostalgic but satisfied hearts we return the key to the lockbox this morning. The exceptional people who maintain this cabin exemplify what it means to exceed expectations! The Stone Lagoon Cabin is not a vacation rental, it is a portal to a utopian world where humans and nature unify amidst peace and serenity. During our stay in Trinidad, we enjoyed a celestial honeymoon like no other setting could have offered. We hiked forests with trees which created awestruck wonder with every step. We savored spectacular sunsets at area beaches. We roasted marshmallows under the crackling flames which warmed the cabin each night. We sipped coffee and listened to the creeks rhythmic flow. On the morning of our last full day, we gaped out the front window as a herd of bull elk sauntered by us. They returned for an extended stay in the afternoon and indulged in the lush offerings of the cabin's grounds. Several elk fed just inches from the cabin. Then, in a shady patch beneath the trees, they rested their large frames for hours as their long ears flapped away flies and their antlers teetered in the cool breeze. We will always cherish the memories we shared during our unforgettable stay. Enjoy your adventures at the Stone Lagoon Cabin! There are no wrong turns off McDonald Creek Road. While you are here, whatever you do, wherever you go, you will experience awe. These transformative moments will expand your thinking, calibrate your connection with life's true purpose and deepen your love and appreciation for the people who matter most to you.
Nothing short of everything we expected. Our adventures began and ended evey day, comingHOME to our cabin. PRICELESS
Thank you so very much for such a beautiful cabin. Being able to wake up to the sound of birds chirping, frogs croaking, and elk grazing right outside the window was an experience like no other. The cabin has such a uniqueness with all of the little touches and a coziness with all the large windows that look out into the wilderness. Staying right next to the Redwood National and State Parks could not have been more enjoyable because instead of staying the night next to other people, we got to stay on a secluded property down a gravel road and the closest neighbor being the creek. Thank you again for providing this amazing cabin to go along with an adventurous trip!
We had a great time at the Stone Lagoon Cabin. It was perfect for us. Down a private lane off the main highway and deep in the woods. We were minutes from the Redwoods Forests and down the lane from Dry Lagoon. The elk sometimes hang out right in the lawn! The owners have done a great job making it very miner's cabin with rough cut woods and corrugated tin, but at the same time comfy with deep couches, good beds, and, my favorite, the bent-wood rocker. During our week stay, we found everything we needed right there.
This place is so unique I would recommend it to everyone! It's 1 mile off the 101 but you feel like you're deep in the hills. We woke up to elk in the yard both days. The inside of the cabin is so unique it's difficult to describe, everywhere you look is something different. We would highly recommend it 4 or less people. Just watch out for poison ivy.
Isolated, but with all the amenities... Full kitchen, WiFi, sat TV and two wood stoves for heat. Creek running by 15 feet from bedroom makes this an idyllic escape location. Easy access to all the park locations... Also, Orick general store is 10 minutes away for groceries.
Our trip to N California from Iowa was enhanced greatly by this wonderful cabin. The pictures on the listing are good, but the place in person is so much better! We loved the seclusion, the wood burning stoves and our neighborhood Elk we named Eddie :) We spent our days checking out all the Parks and enjoying the Redwoods, and coming home to this cabin was so relaxing. Everything was as expected and then some.
As I sit here with coffee on the morning of our final day, I consider my favorite things about this place: the art!, the frog songs, the river flowing by, the birds - no artificial noise! coffee by the fire, reading by the fire, the details of the décor - creative - open - cozy. Delicious food prepped in the adorable kitchen, sleeping with the windows open for fresh air and natures sounds. The tapestries, the bathroom door, art from different cultures !(intriguing - I'd love to know the stories!). It's simply lovely to be here! Oh, and the moment I discovered the hand blender so that I could make smooth avocado lime dressing! I read, journaled, sat in silence, beat my love at scrabble (or, did she win? I don't recall!), explored, ate well - a true re-energizing and re-setting of my cells! I'd love to return and will highly recommend this lovely home to anyone seeking refuge in this area
We had a wonderful stay at the Stone Lagoon rental. The wood burning stoves are plenty warm and toasty, even throughout rainy days and nights. The solitude can't be beat if that's what you are looking for in a vacation, however there was enough adventures yo be had close by! Highly recommend :)
Warm, welcoming home that we couldn't wait to get back to at the end of our day's excursions! So many lovely details in this magical place on a quiet road with Elk all around. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay, we've raved to all of our family and friends about it!!!
Truly an amazing place. Very well located. Great owners, well stocked. I really enjoyed my personal retreat! Thank you so very much for sharing this magical place.
Amazing stay at a gorgeous eclectic cabin, loved the wood fired stove and comfy beds! Will be back!
The Stone Lagoon Cabin north of Trinidad fit all our needs and expectations. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, but we were actually just a half mile off 101. Easy access to all the state and national parks. The cabin had wonderful views from all the picture windows. The main bedroom was a great size and the bed extremely comfortable. We loved all the decorating touches except for the kit fox. It was kind of creepy. LOL The cabin was spacious and yet very cozy. The kitchen was small but very functional. We played horse shoes by the creek one night and my husband grilled every night except one. My husband said this was the best place we had ever rented on our vacations!!
A secluded cabin with everything we needed. Loved the fact that the wood stove was all ready go with kindling etc. Very quiet and peaceful.
We loved our stay at this cabin in the woods next to the Redwood Forest. This was a luxury cabin equipped with everything you need and then some and the decor was apropos to the area, giving it a great authentic feel. The hosts were wonderful, welcoming and attentive yet very respectful of privacy. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to visit the redwood forest and have a peaceful getaway.
Amazing cabin...very quaint and cozy
Thank you for opening your Home away from home to us. We loved the hours we spent here making and eating special meals, checking out the wildlife from the comfort of a bed and the views of the trees and plant life alone, through the window frames are breathtaking in their own right. Personally, I wish I could've kept my eyes open longer when we were here to enjoy the furnishings and collected objects that abound here further. Being visited by a Big Man Elk who slowly ate blackberry's out front was a treat! We will always remember our time here with great fondness. Our awe of these lands and the ocean plus the full moon last night are etched into our hearts and minds! Love it here!
Stone Lagoon cabin awed us from the moment we walked in. The cabin feel is homey, and the decorations are unique. There is one full bathroom that is off the kitchen, a master bedroom on the far end of the cabin, and a full or queen bed (don't quite remember) in the living room. For 4 people, this is perfect. The bathroom is clean and rustic, and the shower has the distinction of having two shower heads on opposite ends of the tub which i have never seen before, but I turned them both on and can now die happy. There are a few steps from the master bedroom to the living room, and from the living room to the kitchen, so be careful wandering around in the dark. The kitchen is a bit tight, with a moveable chopping block obscuring the path to the stove a bit, but it wasn't a problem. You shouldn't have too many cooks in that part of the house anyway. We made use of the two-burner grill just outside the front door, but unfortunately never capitalized on the picnic area 30 yards from the house. Next time. We hiked the James Irvine trail to fern canyon, the redwood creek trail and nearby Lady Bird Johnson grove, and the coastal trail, all trailheads of which were within a 15 minute drive. The cabin is also very close to the Humboldt Lagoons State park, and a paved road leads to a beautiful beach. Thank you for the great vacation!
This was the last stay of our 14 day adventure in CA and we loved the quiet peacefulness of the cabin - more than enough specs for the two of us and could easily have accommodated 4 adults!! Fully equipped and ready for your relaxing comfort - fireplace in the bedroom was a special treat since the nights were cool. The elk were in full force our second day - there were 4 our feeding in the field by the Adirondack chairs!! Thank you for a great stay!!
Stone Lagoon Cabin was a wonderful place to call home for a few days of our stay on the California coast. The cabin itself was warm and inviting, exactly as pictured. It was in a great location for everything we wanted to do, whether it was hiking in Redwood National Park or checking out the local beaches. Very private and quiet, and so fun to see the elk grazing just outside our windows one evening. We hated to pack up and leave. Would highly recommend!!
To be honest I was a little reticent about booking Stone Lagoon, what with the tin walls, but I am so glad I did. It is marvellous, the location the decor, just everything was perfect. Being in the woods, it is nice and quiet and we relaxed from the moment we arrived.
It was good to know we needed to buy supplies before arriving, there's a Safeway in McKinsleyville.
We happened to meet Jill when we arrived who is lovely.
If you're heading up to this area, I would absolutely recommend you stay here.
We rented the Stone Lagoon Cabin for HSU graduation weekend. The cabin is small and cozy but is also off the beaten track off a dirt road. The cabin is a unique mish mash of rooms and floors and design but the setting is spectacular with beautiful nature views from every window.
We had the most lovely and enjoyable stay at the Stone Lagoon Cabin. All the comforts of home are at your fingertips. Our only regret was that we only booked 4 nights! I asked my kids and husband to sum up our stay in one word.. they agreed on 'magical.'
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your beautiful cabin. We appreciated it's rustic charm and the extras, like the well-stocked kitchen and plenty of firewood! It was the perfect place to call "home" while we took in the beauty of this northwest corner of CA! Viewing the elk grazing in the area across the road several mornings was an added bonus! Thank you for all you've done to make this cabin a "home away from home"!
A delightful house in the woods. It's close to the Redwoods and great hikes, easy to difficult. Literally a stone's throw to the ocean as well. We are already planning a return trip.
We had a very nice time at the cabin. It is a perfectly quiet and private place to unwind. It is a REAL cabin, and a little rustic which just adds to the charm of the place. perfectly located to enjoy the Redwoods or beaches.
