very nicely decorated . very clean did not like the price that was charged for only 18 hour stay. would recommend for a longer stay not just an overnight .

It a small place but it was perfect
Boat ramp for us was great

The staff went above and beyond the first night I arrived. I chose it because it is at the end of town and on the water. It was quiet, beautiful and I loved every moment.

Cozy place to chill at the Island

The condo room itself was just what we wanted, small and simple. The room appeared clean and we had no issues with Vacasa management. The check in/out procedure was excellent, and all accomplished via app or text. This unit still uses actual keys in a lock box, which -while some may consider outdated- seemed at least a little more secure than WiFi controlled units or similar styled electronic locks.

The location is a tad outside the "main" area of South Padre and as such, it is a little bit of a walk to get to popular restaurants. With commerce growing the island north, this probably won't be a concern in future years. It is already next door to the Sea Turtle Inc, and just a little farther to the Birding and Nature Center. The condo's location on a small inlet from the bay is pleasant, although not quite the spectacular view as on the bay or beach. The balcony does provide with a small view of the bay, and of course the inlet the condo sits on.

The unit is simple inside and was basically a hotel room in size and features. Kitchen while small, does have a small full size fridge and a convection oven/microwave. Neither of these appear in the current pictures of the unit, so were a nice surprise. Although, had we known they were there, we may have brought alternative food to prepare instead of planning to eat out most of the time. The decor is slightly dated, but adequate. Queen bed and Full trundle were both nothing to write home about and fairly hard.

We most likely will not be staying at this location again due to the condo management. The complex is very dated. Elevator was an oven. Forced to buy a wrist band for each condo guest ($15 each) no matter if using condo amenities or not. We were leaving next day, had already been there two nights before the office was even staffed to provide us a parking pass and sell the mandatory wrist bands. The wrist band requirement is not in the description of the property, and was only seen in the "getting there" section of the Vacasa app after booking the unit.

Very nice and calm place to be!!!

It was a very private and quiet location despite the fact that it is the high point of tourist season and the island was full of tourists. My wife and I live 30 min away from the island but we like to rent a room when we visit. It's one of the better ones for the price

Tha Marina Retreat was just as described and a cozy apartment with great views. Silvia was very helpful with checking in and Anabel was very helpful with requests and questions that we had. Thanks again for making our stay special.

I loved this place, it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and it was close to the beach. I love that both beds where in the same room and there was a trundle under the smaller bed. The lady who worked downstairs was so incredibly nice!

Great place to stay very clean. Love the view of the balcony

The location is easy to access and the building is well maintained. The studio was perfect for the 2 of us and very clean.

Wonderful fishing spot! The boat slip area was teaming with fish!

We enjoyed watching the fish swimming and jumping while having our breakfast on the patio every morning. We're pretty sure we spotted a shark out there one morning as well. Just a small one, but neat to watch!

The room was pretty basic, but comfortable and met all of our needs just fine. Were not fussy. The air conditioning worked fantastically, which is very important to me. I actually got cold at night, which is very unusual! There were plenty of spare blankets available. Closet storage was a bit of an issue. The one narrow clothing closet was pretty full with paint cans, vacuum cleaner, and ironing board, and other stored items,so there wasn't any room to store our suitcases. It would have been nice to have more of that space available. In hindsight we probably could have stored suitcases under the beds. There was space available for us to hang our clothes.

The room included a queen Murphy bed (how fun!) and a twin bed with another twin trundle below. We were able to sleep 4 with no problem. Not much privacy, it is one large shared room, but it was manageable, and expected.

Lots of shelf and drawer space available for clothes and personal items.

The pool was meh. Pretty small and shallow, and the hot tub heater wasn't working while we were there.

All in all, we enjoyed this spot, and felt that the price was very reasonable. We would stay again!
Manager response:
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Shanna! We are delighted to hear that this condo suited many of your vacation needs. We appreciate you letting us know there is room for improvement, and we'll schedule a service visit to ensure there is adequate storage space for guests. In addition, we are happy to report that the hot tub is heating well. We hope to have another chance to impress you in the future!

Perfect fit for a small family of four! Loved the privacy of a condo with a hotel room style.

Nice and clean place to stay. Perfect for those who have a boat or PWC. Loved the option of paying a little more for an early check in and late check out. Wish more places had that option!

Cute unit, very quiet. Soft queen bed. Single bed with trundle also in the room. Small kitchen provided what we needed for a long weekend. Bathroom has issues that we contacted the management company about in hopes that they address them. Hubby loved the dock that he fished from everyday. Overall a nice stay but I’m not sure that I’d pick this unit again due to the bathroom issues.
Manager response:
We are glad to hear this guest enjoyed their stay! We are working with our local staff to address the bathroom issues right away. We hope to host this guest again soon!

We really enjoyed the patio view. It was very cool and breezy the entire time. The rug was wet at the sliding door area - maybe due to rain when we arrived. Stained rugs but comfy. I wish the stove heated properly, as it took 1 1/2 hours to make breakfast, lol. Other than that, i would go back again. We did some fishing at the boat dock but didnt have any luck though.
The pool area was great. Heated pool, nice. Manager was very nice. Highly recommend if you want to get away and relax. We will book again.
Miguel J. Jul 2018
The room was clean and neat, plenty of fresh towels and clean bed sheets. TV worked great but a little small. The balcony had a great view of the docks and the sunset looked amazing.

Everything

Great amenities. Fluffy towels. No kids channels on TV. Dinette was wobbly and needed fixing. No ironing board or hair dryer. They supplied coffee filters and coffee maker but bring your own coffee. Deep tub but water doesn't stay hot enough to fill it even half way. Very clean unit overall.

This condo is perfect for a couple. It's small and has all the amenities needed. It has a great view and is located in a quiet spot. Loved the gift bag that was left for us! We will definitely be staying here again.

Musty Smell & Maintenance Issues: When we entered the room the ceiling fan was on, but no A/C! Called Vacasa local property manager for assistance...no response, left voice mail with no returned call during our stay. We finally called the condo manager (i.e., "Pete") who was very polite and courteous, and told us to contact the indivdual property owner. After further investigation of the rental, we discovered the batteries to all appliances (i.e., thermostat, clocks, and remotes) had been removed or were inoperable. We went to the local store and purchased batteries, installed them, and the A/C began to work...thank You Jesus! This nearly ruined our vacation. We also encountered a musty, mildewy odor upon entering the property. We immediately attempted to fumigate the condo with Lysol. The next issue was bird droppings on the patio and the furniture due to the Purple Martins' nest on the outdoor light fixture. This caused us to clean the table and chairs thoroughly before use. However, the droppings on the patio and the birds' nest remained causing us limited use of the patio...definitely didn't eat out there! New towels provided, however, not washed causing lint everywhere...clothing, bodies, etc. Utensils provided were dated and did not appear to be clean...we refrained from using.
Compliments: Nice condo overall with a great sunset view, boat piers, pool & hot tub with outdoor shower, and laundry facilities. We appreciated the clean bedding and linen...very comfortable Murphy bed. Updated kitchen and bath were in good taste...great freezer for the fish caught. Peaceful and the residents were friendly.

The check-in process was pretty good, however, the 24-hour confirmation process is a bit tedious and inconvenient to those making reservations with a credit card that is billed immediately. We had to make contact with Vacasa Properties to confirm reservation. Very helpful and professional to this point. Upon check-in & encountering the maintenance issues, we did not get any one to answer or follow-up on our concerns at the condo. We did not receive check-out instructions or extention information until after we had checked out and returned home. Immediate communication and customer service is paramount...it would have been nice to receive a text or phone call after check-in to ensure the property is good standing. This should also be done on the last day of the stay to offer extended check-out time or reserve an additional stay...we may have extended if offered.

The room's appearance was neat and clean, however, the inoperable A/C, the musty & mildewy smell, and the bird droppings on the patio were unacceptable. We were left to discover and rectify these issues. The property owner(s) should have been contacted immediately concerning these issues prior to our arrival.

Beach Access #4...great evening stroll with "My Boop"; Speck Ops Charters with Capt. Jason Wisdom...limited out on the speck trout; the condo...caught fish right off the boat dock; Jim's Pier of Swordfish Avenue...will clean & bag your catch for a small fee, Hilton Garden Inn's $9.95 lunch and dinner specials...great for families on a budget; Isla Boat Tour; Sea Turtle Rescue & Rehabilitation Center; and Dirty Al's Pelican Bay Restaurant in Port Isabel...great seafood!
Manager response:
We sincerely apologize for the way this guest found the room. There was an oversight in home inspections due to the property manager having a day off. The matter will be investigated so we can follow-up where necessary.
