Recent Lincolnville guest reviews

The week we stayed here (late June) was typical of Maine weather -- often too windy for canoeing/fishing, so hot for two days (no air conditioning!) that the house reached 94 degrees inside, and then so chilly by the end of the week we needed blankets on the bed. Although you don't expect A/C in Maine camps, it sure would have been nice. One of the cleanest rentals we've ever had! There were a few spots of dust in some corners and a few cobwebs here and there, but all in all a very well kept and prepared property. The queen mattress is not very good. The two twins are much better. All the furnishings in the camp are charming, well chosen, and well cared for. Some camps have so much cutesy stuff, but not so here. The homey touches are just that, a feel of a family camp that's been enjoyed and cared for, for years. If you like to cook, as we do, you will be disappointed with the kitchen. It is a bit cramped and the cookware, etc. is a typical mishmash of second hand and bargain store stuff. We came prepared with homecooked food (we live just 40 min. away) that we could rewarm and with Hannafords in Camden a short drive away, we were able to keep supplied easily. The stove at the camp, and especially the refrigerator, were spotlessly clean - a rarity in our experience. Renters should note that the majority of the dock is not anchored, but floating instead, and it bobs in the wind like a potato chip in a maelstrom. We did not attempt to use the camp's canoe and instead brought our own, although we didn't get to use it much because of the dock and the constant wind. This side of the lake is "thickly settled" so if lots of ambient noise and distractions are not what you want, choose to stay early or late in the season.

View from front room is amazing . Very cute place. Great big screen TV in lower level - no bathroom on that floor but wonderful TV. Main floor view is amazing!

We shared the house with a couple who are our best friends, and we all loved it, particularly being right on Penobscot Bay with easy access to Camden, Rockport, and Rockland. We found terrific restaurants— lots of lobster— and enjoyed the home’s privacy as well as nearby hiking and sailing. Maybe a longer stay next time!
