This is a beautiful cabin with easy access to the ski area and other local attractions. Very clean and fully appointed.

I could not say enough good things about this cozy home! We stayed 5 days with a group of 10 adults and slept very comfortably with plenty of room for luggage as well as suitcase stands and hangers. The house is also immaculately clean. The kitchen is spacious and open to the living and dining room so it is perfect to cook for and entertain a big group. We also easily parked our 4 cars in the driveway and were thankful for the garage door opener provided for our use. This home is very ideal for skiing as slopes are only about 20 minutes away. Boot warmers and a small heater in the garage were such a nice touch! In a time where everyone is very high strung this town and house rules were very laid back and it was just what we needed! Pagosa Springs is about an hour away and has hot springs and cute shops but was quite a bit more strict than South Fork so we mostly stayed in South Fork which has several great restaurants and a friendly little hole in the wall bar within walking distance. Needless to say we will be back as soon as we can!

This place worked great. Four of us came out to go snowmobiling, and it was a great little place, especially since we were gone a majority of the day. The water was very hot and all of us were able to shower in the evening without running out! (YES!). Bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen area worked for us to make most of our meals.

Where is South Fork, CO?

Nestled on the eastern edge of the Rio Grande National Forest, South Fork is a peaceful community at the juncture of the South Fork and Rio Grande rivers. 43 miles north of the geothermal waters at Pagosa Springs, and just over 100 miles from historic Durango, our South Fork vacation rentals offer a convenient escape into the Colorado wilderness.

Things to do in South Fork, CO

Explore beautiful South Fork on foot and hit the trails, which offer easy and challenging hikes ranging from one-half to five miles in length. Wind your way through the forest into the wilderness or set out on horseback to take in the stunning mountain scenery.

Launch a raft on the Rio Grande and take a gentle float on the river's headwaters, or seek out a more challenging water adventure and head for the Class II and Class III rapids on the river. Anglers might do some fishing and bring home rainbow trout to cook up for dinner in your rental's kitchen.

If you decide to take a day trip, head 43 miles southeast to rustic, yet bustling Pagosa Springs for dining, shopping, and art galleries, then finish your day with a luscious soak in the geothermal hot springs.

Children and kids at heart will have a blast sledding at Rickel Park while the local rink offers ice skating and pick-up ice hockey games with the locals. Wolf Creek Ski Area is 19 miles away for those who want to indulge in some sublime downhill or boarding in powdery perfection.
