We love the Cafe on Hawk Creek. Also the flooded golf course in the winter! Lots of birds to watch and listen to. The beach is always fun, but what we really love about Neskowin is walking around town, admiring the sweet small homes that have been lovingly taken care of and decorated. The garden full of metal spinning sculptures. The walkway made of the bottoms of glass bottles. The whimsical weather vanes. And all the signs to slow down - so creative and fun. The Neskowin residents obviously love their town!

It was a nice balance of reasonably close to basics, not too far to Lincoln City and within a reasonably pleasant drive to Tillamook for day trips. The coffee at Neskowin's store was a pleasant surprise after having had a few off episodes at independent coffee stands at the coast...

LOVE that Neskowin is a small community....delicious breakfast at the Café-excellent service. Took classes at Sitka art center nearby-must do again next year. Mid Sept the beach is peaceful, very few people. And superb weather--sun every day for the 5 days we were there! Beach access is 5 minutes from the porch, cross the little gravel road, walk 6 steps down to the sand.

Location is unbelievable. About 100 feet from the sand. And this home has a special level path to use, so you don't have to use the difficult rock stairs. To sit in the living room and see the ocean and beach was awesome. We will come back, when the 2nd bed is corrected.
  • Neskowin

    Gayle L.

We didn't stay in Neskowin much but went to pacific city and Lincoln city. If I came down again I would do the same thing because when you wanted a quiet place to relax we stayed on the neskowin beach. The kids bought skim boards and built sand castles. At night we built a fire and roasted marshmallows.. It was perfect. If we wanted more actuvities we drove the short distance to the other small towns

The Neskowin Trading Company has a market/deli/bakery that has a great selection of things that you might need--far nicer than the usual hot dogs and Kraft Singles a lot of oceanside markets sport. So if you need some wine or a last minute block of Edam, they have you all sorted. They'll also hook you up with good cake.

During low tide, a forest that fell about 300 years ago below sea level can be viewed on the farthest southern part of the beach. It's quite remarkable. But to access it you will need to do some serious wading or walk the gated road into the community that has probably gotten so inundated with people they put up a gate. It's worth it!
  • Neskowin

For folks with kids, we'd strongly recommend Regatta Park in Lincoln City. It has a fantastic play structure. The store "Prehistoric" is also great if you have kids who are paleontology/geology buffs.

Roadhouse 101 near Taft has the best fish and chips, especially the halibut. Looks like a bar, which it has, but the back is a rustic restaurant for all ages...even has pizza. It also brews it's own beer. Tasty

This property is in a quiet neighborhood and is very peaceful. It is a short drive to Lincoln City for a nice meal, shopping, and fun beaches. The beach at the property location is beautiful, and there is a nice little trail walk to the beach. It is a little steep, but nothing most people is reasonable shape would have too much difficulty with.

Tucked in the corner of the beach between Proposal Rock and the cliff where the Cliff house is located is amazing. Most of the time it feels like your own private beach with a few friends.

The Dunes in Pacific City were incredible. Pelican Pub is amazing. Barnacle Bill's in Lincoln City is the best place for fresh and and freshly smoked seafood!

You must go into Willamette Valley for wine tasting by Horseback - Google Equestrian Wine Tours - Jack Price Stables!

We loved the trail down to the beach that's in the neighborhood. The beach is so quiet and perhaps the most beautiful beach on the Oregon Coast! We loved the quick drive to Neskowin store/Hawk Creek for supplies and for the kids to play in the creek and check out the caves.

Neskowin beach is our absolute favorite, as it has Scenery as well as sand!! Sitting on the deck and looking at the view from Wave Haven was fantastic, never saw a view as beautiful as that. The convenience store and little restaurant at the base of the hill were perfect for a getaway, too: I'm actually thinking of not packing food to take along, next year!! What a wonderful time... best "rental" we ever had.

There is a hidden set of stairs, 134 to be exact, to get you down to the beach. Walk down the road back towards the main gate and the first street that goes left, take it! To the right of the first house (grey one) are the steps that lead you down to the beach!

Neskowin Beach is great! Good lattes at Neskowin Trading. Depoe Bay area was great for more whale watching, went out with Whales Tail on a small coast guard boat for very reasonable cost - priceless! And don't miss Newport farmers market (awesome!) and Local Ocean for seafood.

I'd been to Neskowin before, so I knew it would be a quiet and small coast town. I love it there. The beach is beautiful and friendly to dogs and kids. We hiked up to the top of Proposal Rock, which was stunning, and we saw bald eagles. It's a short drive to the three capes loop, which is lovely and where you do so some easy but satisfying hiking.

This property is a bit far from everything!! The views are spectacular, especially from the hot tub and the huge front window. Unfortunately, it is a bit of a trek to the beach and the surrounding communities. We were surprised how long it took us to get to Lincoln City!!

We ate twice at the Hawk Creek Cafe. Excellent! The store carries basics as well as gourmet goodies and was also excellent. We hiked up
Cascade Head one day, and canoed up the Salmon River Estuary another. When we were being lazy at the house, we sat in the little outside nook on the bench and watched whales spouting on their trip north.
  • Neskowin

    Kelly G.

We loved Neskowin because it was not as heavily populated as Lincoln City and Seaside. It had a great cozy feel, but was secluded enough to feel like a private little sanctuary. There is a great little store right across the street that offers plenty of items for the discerning appetite. The view was delightful and beach access was just across the road.
  • Neskowin

Beach just north of Winema Rd. access ... but at low tide!
    Cascade Head, of course.
Seen from the deck: Osprey circling above lagoon and roosting in tree; Great blue heron (probably) building a nest. Bring your own binoculars!
Refill fire starters (one was empty and I didn't see the other one until later)
    Consider upgrading to BluRay-capable TV
Oops. We forgot to put out the garbage. Sorry!

  • Neskowin

    Robert T.

During low tide, one could witness the "Ghost Forest" of Neskowin. Ancient tree stumps that were recently unearthed with the regression of the surf.

Cafe on Hawk Creak is a really find, but it was discouraging that there was no convenient beach route to that part of the town. There is a creek/river that cuts right through with no bridge and only a short-term possibility to cross during low tide.
  • Neskowin

    Lynda M.

Hawk Creek Cafe was fantastic-great food, great folks.
  • Neskowin

Whalen Island north of Tierra Del Mar is a nice place for running/hiking/dog walking and not at all crowded even during Christmas holidays. Lincoln City has some nice Christmas light displays. The marsh below the property through which the beach trail goes is really nice if you like birds. You need waterproof calf-high boots to navigate the trail but it's a nice area. Saw an owl one evening and many other birds.

At the lowest low tide of the day, hike to the south end of Neskowin Beach up against Cascade Head. There is the most amazing of tide pools there with starfish, mussels, barnacles, caves, and other sea creatures. Make sure to leave by the time the tide starts to shift from low to high, but it is a treat!

  • Neskowin

Short drives to Lincoln City, Pacific City, Tillamook and Depoe Bay for great places to sight see and do things. Besides Neskowin Beach being a nice little beach, Fogety Beach State Park is a quite little beach with very little beach goers.

The beach was perfect, and all of Neskowin is a treasure. We stayed during the month of August and the cottage gardens were in full bloom. It reminded us of a Thomas Kinkade painting. We enjoyed walking through Neskowin almost as much as we enjoyed playing on the beach.

We loved the walk down to the beach. Also we loved the the more secluded beach just down the road, but felt like we may be intruding a little. No one said anything, but where we parked we just felt that way a little. We loved the trading post and the hike to proposal rock. Saw eagles early one morning. On Saturday there was the nicest farmers market.

The house was more than nice. It was clean and comfortable. The view from the large windows in the main area was spectacular. That alone was worth the rental price. Little things like extra dish and laundry soap, shampoo, conditioner, paper products, wood for the stove etc. were a very pleasant surprise. The ping pong table was lots of fun for old and young alike. We were all very pleased. We will definitely rent again.

The house itself is beautifully situated in a quiet little neighborhood. The back yard is like a little secret garden where all kinds of birds come to visit. There are lots of porches for relaxing outside and plenty of space inside. Unfortunately, you cannot see the beach at all from the house, but beach access is not very far by car and pretty accessible.
There is a nice look-out to view the beach just a short distance (maybe 2 minutes) up the road (by car-toward Tillamook). We enjoyed exploring the nearby beach (the other direction) near Proposal Rock at low tide, and at sunset we had a little bon fire on the shore. We enjoyed the beach near Haystack Rock...walking on the sandy beach, lots of tide pools at low tide, people flying kites. Cape Mears is another beautiful place with the octopus tree, lighthouse, look-out to see Three Arch Rocks and whales. The Tillamook Cheese Factory is only about 30-40 minutes away, and they have a free tour almost every day. In Lincoln City (only about 15 minutes away) we drove around the lake, shopped at the outlet mall, and ate at Mo's right on the water.

The walk to the beach is an experience! It takes about 15 minutes through a winding fairy path thru woods. It was delightful. We did it with children aged 4-7 and they loved it. Coming back up the trail requires a few resting spots but there are darling benches made from branches along the way. . . mushrooms, wildflowers, butterflies. And warnings for bears! Oh my!

The reopening of the Market and Hawk Creek Cafe was a welcomed back tradition that makes vacationing in Neskowin the best on the Oregon Coast!!

This is our favorite beach in Oregon and my husband and I have been going there for nearly 20 years - he grew up going there and our kids just love it too!

The view is fantastic. There is a trail below the house that connects to the beach and the town of Neskowin if you don't want to get in the car while your there, you don't have to.

Neskowin Trading Co. was such a cute little place to stop and grab any forgotten items, or a pizza or sandwiches! Also the small little grocery store in Pacific City. Their seafood selection was excellent.

The views from the house were even better than expected from the photos and amazing from both sides of the house looking northwest and southwest. We also experienced 2 of the prettiest sunsets I have seen on the coast. The beach at Neskowin is one of the most picturesque, great for walking, and we found several sand dollars.

Well, our favorite spot to be was the house. It was so comfortable and relaxing. We did venture out every day. It was nice not having to travel very far. We went to Newport (we love the Aquarium), had lunch in Depoe Bay on the way back and had the best clam chowder. Spent some time at the Casino in Lincoln City one day. We are not big gamblers but it was fun and we all came out ahead. Purchased a few items at an awesome antique store. It was always nice to come back and relax.

Neskowin is a sleepy little town. Close to the Lincoln City with all of the city life. Yet a perfect place to unwind and recharge

Bob Straub State Park is only about 10-15 minutes away and was wonderful! The hike to the beach from the property was quite grueling...may want to alert guests that they need to be in pretty decent physical shape and have very few physical disabilities or medical issues. The hot tub was marvelous!

Neskowin Beach and Cascade Head trails, Hawk Creek Café is a must visit and Pacific City is 15 minutes away, although Neskowin is much more charming.
