We chose this property based on location, screened-in porch, number of bedrooms and baths. And we expected the usual level of amenities and cleanliness as our previous 4 rentals on the island.
Kiawah’s landscaping is always impeccable... so not sure what happened or didn’t happen here - half dead shrubs, two small clumps of mangy flowers and a dirty, peeling front porch.
Speaking of paint, the entire inside needs a coat of paint. And a thorough cleaning. There are cobwebs EVERYWHERE, and greasy kitchen cabinetry. The furniture is badly stained as is the upstairs carpet. Also, the unspa bathtub in the master bedroom has a gross, unidentified dirt/mold/rust on an overflow drain. Not to mention the previous renter’s/housekeeper’s long black hair (I am blonde).
When we arrived, there was a half roll of paper towels and two cheap (dollar store quality) dish towels. I’ll excuse that a full roll of paper towels could not be made available, but two, non absorbent dish towels? And not one cleaning agent, except the $3.29 bottle of Lysol cleaner I brought along...and took back home.
So, let’s talk drinkware. 3 mis-matched wine glasses that looked like they were jacked from a local restaurant, one or two iced tea glasses and 6 rocks glasses. Happy NOT hour.
Dine In? Again, a mismatched jumble of plates, bowls and coffee cups. If you mind eating your dinner on a bread plate, not a biggie.
There is a really large refrigerator.....if only it worked properly. Upon arrival, it was turned off. Why you might ask? Because the thermostat was shot... and the alarm kept going off. Rather than being greeted with the fridge alarm sounding, it was turned off. So we turned it on to constant alarms and frozen everything. We also tossed about $100 of produce ... but our seltzer’s were nice and slushy. Very refreshing, actually.
Show of hands... how many of you have chewed your coffee in the morning? That’s what you get from the $9.99 Hamilton Beach coffee maker with wrong coffee filters. I wouldn’t mind one bit if $100 from my renter’s fee was used to purchase a new/better coffee maker and iron while I’m at it.
We were really looking forward to the screened porch. It was large, with two dining tables, 16 chairs, 1 love seat and 1 usable sitting chair. The other was broken. Our view? The fantastic golf course... and a pile of dirty mats/rugs and an open package of ping-pong balls. Also, no ping-pong table.
Did we get what we paid for? You decide.
Hi, Michele! We apologize the refrigerator was not working during your stay; the parts were on order and did not arrive in time. It has since been repaired. The owner will be replacing the dinnerware, silverware, and glasses. Carpets and upholstery are scheduled to be cleaned, and we will follow-up with housekeeping on reaching our high cleanliness standards. Thank you!

Lots of room to move around and to gather for small talks or the whole group. Worked just right for four golfers in separate bedrooms. Just two things, several light bulbs missing or burned out and hvac vents in some bedroom ceilings were closed. Got pretty chilly a couple nights.
Kedron, Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your comments. We will bring your comments to the attention of the local staff and see that the lightbulbs and HVAC vents are addressed. We hope to host you again very soon. Thank you!

The house was incredible, large spacious and very comfortable.
Everything was in order and the central location made for easy trips to the beach, stores, restaurants etc.
If you are looking for a family place to enjoy Kiawah then look no further.

This house was so gorgeous and was exactly what we were looking for. We were nested on the golf course and really enjoyed watching the golfers play during our stay. There was only 2 of us but the house can accommodate at least 10 people very comfortably. The kitchen was very well stocked with anything we could have needed and we really enjoyed the movie room. The best part of the house was the jetted bath tub located in the master. Normally, I would run out of hot water by the time the bath was filled up but that was not the case at this house. Hot water never ran out so I was very happy.
The house is super spacious and very well designed. The pictures do not do this house justice.
I would give this house a perfect 10 out of 10 and will probably rent again next year.

This is our third stay in Kiawah and this house was, hands down, the roomiest, prettiest and most comfortable for our family of 5. We certainly could have added more people to our party and still have been comfy.
The kitchen was well stocked with lots of seating. The natural sky lights made it really bright and inviting.
I especially liked the Home Theater Room; great selection of movies, comfy motion furniture and, best of all, OUTSIDE the living area so there wasn't background TV noise while trying to chat, read, cook, etc..
It was a short bike ride to the beach. This was great for checking out the Turtle Patrols in the morning. However, families may want to check out the areas of the beach with parking if they need to carry beach gear, coolers, etc.
We enjoyed the neighborhood feel of it too. There was lots of walking room to exercise our dog. It is outside the fray, but still really convenient to the main road and lots of activities ( Heron Park and Sanctuary.)
